I figure as an American citizen if any group feels the need to wipe my fellow country men, women and children off the planet then we have every right to justify your demise by any means necessary. If you feel the need to attack the USA then I have no remorse when we attack you, or you are tortured or mistreated. Valid points on both sides Mr.VJP and Doc!

I was lucky today and finished putting up a few stands with my buddy before it rained. Some nice rubs and a scrape. Looking forward to hunting this area for the first time, not use to suburban hunting but dam these areas hold big deer!

Nice buck, most NY hunters would be proud of getting something like that. Would be nice to let him spread his genes but to say I would not shoot him would be a lie. I think what some are saying is this: Do not put a deer on your hit list because you are thinking your neighbor will shoot him. That is just selfish. Put him on your hit list because he is a nice deer and you would be happy to take him and would be proud to show off his beauty.

I had a girlfriend just like that. She would say DON'T get one as I went off hunting, she jinxed me every time. I try to explain the connection to nature and the circle of life. The balance of nature and how I help with population control and overeating of their food supply. I also explain where meat comes from and it is not the supermarket. I also inform them how hunters have been green before any vegan ever was in existence and how we would not be here if people did not hunt. In the not so distant past hunting was a part of life vs a sport. Sometimes nothing you say will change their view but at least they can get a better understanding of why we love the outdoors so much and why the creatures we support greatly benefit from our labors of love with our land.

Be glad your OK! A bow is not as big of a deal as an eye or limb!!! A good bow shop should check over the bow for any issues you might not see VIP! Otherwise good luck, glad your OK, it could have been much worst. A guy did that at Suffolk Archers a few days ago, momentary laps caused a dry fire, it happens to the best of us. I know it sucks but you have plenty of time to get it fixed or replaced. Good luck, let us know how it works out.

Not much of an outdoorsman if you have to break into houses for food and supplies. How many winters did he spend in one of those cabins? Interesting read and 27 years in the wild is pretty crazy. Sounds like he is a hermit and a thief, possible speech problems causing his disconnect from society? Interesting read, wonder if his survival details will ever come out.

IF I knew the patterns I would jump on them, I try to slow down my stalks and pay attention to every detail in the woods to give clues about habits, travel paths and food. Then I try to make a game plan. My scouting is usually the first few days of hunting and previous years experiences. 2-5 days depending on time allowed and hunting area available. Not the most effective way to hunt but its FUN!!! The fact that I have NO clue what is in the area conjures up dreams of 10-14 pointers running rampant. Ignorance can be bliss at times.
