The results are the same... Drop or lean they both equal a drop in the elevation of the deer's body which can result in a missed or bad shot... My point is if you can get them to stand still for that spit second you might have a better impact with your arrow. Calling just before or even better as you shoot might result in a better placed shot as long as you can keep your prey in the same position as when you released your shot... I do the same thing with stopping yotes as I try my mouse squeak to get them to stop...

I refer to this as "deer drop" and is biggest reason why most of us miss with the bow. IMO... I have watched so many missed shots on deer over the internet and most shots where on the money IF the deer stayed still. This is why I always tell my fellow bow hunters to aim LOW... A well placed heart shot will still be a good hit if the deer "drops" but if you go for a double lung you might miss completely. This is the main reason I will not shoot past 50 yards with my bow even though I am good out to 65... I try to do a maahh call when target shooting to "freeze" the deer just before the shot, another thing to do while aiming but I think it can work, what do you guys think about that? I have not shot any with my bow yet so I can not say it will work... But it sounds like a good idea.

http://living.msn.com/life-inspired/the-daily-dose-blog-post?post=015dab3c-f660-4e99-91fb-b1fbea94f859?icid=blogmsnliv And they wonder why we do not want more laws put in place. Ahh because you already have enough laws to make ANY person a criminal just by saying "resisting arrest"... Without video proof, you are guilty... And No it is not illegal to carry a gun... Wait 10 more years and it might be... Thanks for serving our country now go to jail and give me your guns... Pathetic!!! I hope some really good lawyer helps him out of this injustice of our goverment and it's untrained workers...

Question for fellow NY hunters and sportsman
NFA-ADK replied to Adkhunter1590's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Sounds like a good idea if you can get the clients... Could offer tree planting and trimming along with bush/shrubbery, many possibilities depending how far you want to go. You could rent the equipment that was not too expensive. Advertising would be key I would think. If that is your route landscaping could be another part. Remote cabin/property maintenance specializing in deer/food plots free estimates... If you start off with local advertising you can build up from food plots, sounds good if you know what you are doing. Food plots are not perfect science due to nature usually... As Growalot said you need the backing for all that stuff, cost is not cheap but you can start off small and work up. Land owner should be informed about proper maintenance, watering, bug and pest control, soil and climate effects to properly protect yourself... Ex: Get a waiver signed... And inform them that you take no responsibility for natural disasters be it bugs, rain, sun or vermin. Good luck what ever you try! -
It was funny!

I propose a new law. The Justification Law: When it has been proven that an individual or group has committed an act such as the Boston marathon massacre. Those persons proven responsible should be locked in a room with the surviving family members (And guest if wanted or preferred). After said person or people have been incapacitated the week and lame will start the process leading up to the strongest and most deviant individuals for last with the last persons enforcing final justice. May be we should just call it the Traitor Act... God Bless America As I make my pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America! Funny how this type of stuff is removed from school and morals are eroded every day. It use to be My Country over the individual. So much for that moral lesson... No prayer in school!!! All guns are bad! Seems I was in a better time when all I had to worry about as a kid was thermo nuclear war, lol. Seems rumors are coming out about a mid east connection, what if this turned out to be an attack by N. Korea? With coordinated mail letters send to our president and elected officials. What if we find it was Iran. I pray no American would do such a crime on innocent people... GOD bless these poor victims and lost ones of this most shame full terrorist attack. Lord I ask the you give the FBI and Boston police the skills and knowledge to track down these traitors so that justice may be enforced. Amen

What a conversation over a dead yote. Look everyone brakes the law. If you say "not me" then you must not drive because I do not care who you are everyone who drives brakes the law at one time or another even if just by accident... Everyone drives too fast, slow, now cell phones, etc. Point is we all are law breakers at one point or another. Most cops let minor infractions go as most of us know. Yet the newbie officer in town is giving out tickets for everything he see's including loitering, littering, and failing to signal. As far as he is concerned any law broken is an offense. As he tires in his exuberance to excel at his job he becomes hardened and less apt to hassle people over minor infractions. So the new DEC officer is on patrol and ANY infraction is considered worth following up in his eyes. He tickets everyone for anything even if the person says that is not my apple core officer, does not matter it was by your dead deer, I have to write you up for baiting... And take your deer! Remember perspective... Yes some laws I agree with and other not so much. Speed limit 55 mph lol only that way to get more money when ticketed... Certain taxes I disagree with, like fuel, oil and cigarettes. My right to bear arms! And the degradation of its fabric the second amendment. If I lived in upstate and had to deal with coyotes all year as a threat then if one comes in the back yard and I can take him then he is done... And it would be legal as long as you owned or occupied. Funny how some of you get up on your high horse and state that the person will be tracked by IP address for a DEC check... Seems this post was meant to start something... I do not like coyotes. I hate poachers more... But at times I can understand someone who is perceived as a poacher due to some overzealous officer... I know some serious hunters who have been ticketed for unproven infractions yet it makes them look like poachers... I can understand a poacher who is doing this to feed his family, call me wrong and say that encourages bad "ethics" but hell if he need to do this to survive, well not much more to say... Just remember perspective. The beginning of this post was about if he took the animal legal or not. It seems if he took it in NY he would be justified as per the law stated above. No one is going after him for this because it was legal... Eventually I hope to have a different perspective once I finally move where the deer roam free... And I can shoot them dam YOTES!!! LOL LAAA

Not ok for us to talk about this but it is ok for Obama to exploit the kids killed in Conn. Typical thinking of a liberal... I am sorry but with things like this starting to happen you can bet I will defend my right to gun ownership no matter what is in the news!!! Take your 24 hour thinking somewhere else... And yes you are a troll...

Wow, hope everything work out Growalot!

Hopefully he is the 6 pt that was following you last year. I would think he is a 2.5 but hard to estimate. Looks young, could be a 1 1/2.

That first pic stinks! LOL Nice paint job on that one! Cool pics! Wow that buck is a brute! Hope to see you with him later this year growalot! Surprised they still have their antlers at that point. Do you know when they shed them, I would figure it would be shortly after those pictures. I know typically on the island they start to loose them after Jan.

Happy Easter to all!!!

Totally awesome as always!!! I had a Canadian geese about 1 ft away from me today at Suffolk archers. I had to wait to let the pair get past my deer and fox target before shooting, then one was bold enough to check me out while pulling my arrows... I will take a pic next time... Pretty cool stuff.

Very cool, glad you had a good time and all got home safe!

A centralized data base will make confiscations and access to the information simple. No more dealing with local authorities for the info... It will give access on the state level as opposed to the local level. (Bad for us, good for them...) This will give a much broader range of information to the state and is the next step in confiscation. And will give more power for the state to enact new laws and enforce them to all registered owners. If you do not think they will tax these know gun owners you are living in a fantasy... IT's coming... The state will do anything for more money and this is just the next step in that process of eliminating gun ownership. IMO All though we do not have all the info on this, more control is the goal. Next to include all long rifle purchases and assault rifles. This way when they do come to your house they know how many guns they should leave with. More control at the state level is bad for owners plain and simple. Even though we don't have all the info, you can bet they have a larger plan at stake and this is just the next step to removal of all weapons, anyone who can not see this is not realizing what is happening. NYS does not want you to own fire arms... Plain and simple... And they are working to take that away. With the assault rifle ban, registration, state data base on all gun owners and more laws being enacted every week it's hard for me to see it any other way... More control is the goal... They do not understand it so they want to control it... No I will not support any gun registration or data base at the state level. It is just more government control over something they see as a direct threat and if you can't see that well I don't know what to say... Every law we LET them pass is another part of watering down your rights as a owner... And that I will not support no matter how insignificant it might seem... That includes any state controlled data base. NFA-GETSOME
