I doubt this guy is advocating shooting this far for deer, he his just showing what todays bows are capable of in the hands of a expert. Dont get me started on X-bows lol...
-
See what happens when I am not out shooting my bow, Im on here talking perspectives and junk, lol... On a good note my back is getting better... This is better than work day at the archery range thats for sure, at least my back thanks me...

I do believe we all need to realize each persons perspective. If I hunt and have my own land and see people hunting small game when I am hunting deer with a bow then all the deer on my 300 plus acres of land are missing for the week, I will think that small game shooting will affect deer activity. If I jog 7 miles every morning and see some crazy deer most hunters would litterally kill for after a bunch of shooting in the area and they are not spooked, I will say fire arm shooting has no effect. We all need to realize we each have our own outdoors viewing of wildlife which will dictate our though process. Try to put yourself in the other person's shoes. I claimed the deer population was going down in the ADK area I hunt, knowing full well certian area's were abundant with deer yet those area's were off limits to me. Many close to towns and private land were prime food source was availible. I had many on this site claim deer were in abundance in the ADK, again it is your perspective... If I have a friend in BO that gets shot and killed, you think I care what statistics say about safety and BO. Yet if I am a idiot and almost shot a BO person I would say BO saved his life and use it... I have passed on more deer bow hunting then I have ever seen in the ADK, yet I have not found one worthy of ADK type status to shoot... Yet I am considered a "bad" hunter by some because of this. Again perspective. Some bow hunters are brown and down thats what we are here for animal control, others for meat others for trophy as seen by most. All are needed! Yet I hunt for mature bucks wich could be considered trophy by most standard. I am told by my non hunting devils advocate buddy this is wrong. I should only shoot for meat and nothing else and that makes me a bad hunter... Again perspective. I explain the fact that I let so many go and he say then I am not hunting for food, wich is in part true. I do not hunt for food, although I eat my prey. "I guese I hunt for the joy of the outdoors" I explain, and that is where he is accepting as NOT killing an unworthy prey allows me the time with that animal and the experiance of the day... And that is my perspective.

Good points on both sides... Being a bow hunter myself I am a little bias. Yet I do feel the bow season is being washed away. Between small game, muzzloader, crossbow, a special firearms season for youth and a early bear season the archery season is basically shotgun, rifle and soon to be crossbow season. And in so far as the excuse as me wanting the woods all to myself, that is a false accusation...(probably stated by a land owner who has this...) That would mean no one would use a bow which they can if they want to I am not resticting use of public lands, I just believe each should have thier own season... (big game) Not everyone can afford land... I believe many do not care about this because of that fact that they own private land and are not effected by these laws... And yes I do feel underpowered and in more danger during these times as I am in full camo, yet I will not wear orange as many sudgest here, if you want me to wear orange make it mandatory for every person entering the woods, including hikers, bikers, dec, all hunters and anyone living near any woods during any fire arms season... As many "safety" advocates state it would be safer for all... Can't believe I am advocating BO for all yet If it makes us safer which is proven why not make it law during any fire arms season which is all year... Yes I am trying to prove a point... I see no reason why we can not have separate seasons and this would not affect retention or restrict youth hunts... As a matter of fact I believe it would retain more bow hunters in general with the knowledge that they would not have to worry about additional fire arms in the woods while they hunt. And yes it would be safer with out additional people hunting differant prey during the same season. This way during any fire arm season many BO users would be seen, as opposed to some idiot thinking everyone is in BO and that must be a deer moving 150 yards away when it is me! Am I the only one who has said don't shoot during bow season to someone with a rifle? It's a win win situation for NYS. Separate tags = more money. Better safety with only bow hunters, or only crossbow, or only youth at any given time. THis does not restrict anyone, everyone can still hunt just only hunt for the game that is in season with the weapon in season... How this makes the woods void of any hunters so I am the only one is beyond me... Otherwise just make bow season, early rifle for kids, early bear, small game, black powder and crossbow season. It's almost thier already... So much for using a primative weapon, and I debated using a traditional bow, lol. To bad spears are illegal... Specail note to the DEC: You think the unethical hunter with a rifle during early bear is not going to shoot a buck, give me a brake... Just another excuse for a poacher, I was hunting black bear... Sure you are... Lets see your license, thats not yours, thats your wifes... What do you mean you lost your tag, I saw a deer hanging at your house, you applied for anotherone saying you lost yours? OK put the spot light down and step out of the vehecle, NOW!!! Wait is that gun in the front seat loaded? OK place your hands on the vehecle, you have the right to remain silent, I sudgest you do so... OK what's in the cooler? Sorry when talking about poachers I get carried away...

Mega Millions Jackpot - More than 1/2 Billion Dollars
NFA-ADK replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
Best thing about lotto is thinking about what you would do with it, in my oppinion. Happy I only spent 7 dollars on it... Smartest winners fly under the radar, not even letting family or friends know resulting in a stable life style. Otherwise everyone is your best friend... WOW Deer thug you hit the nail on the head with that one!!! -
Wisconsin man suspected of slaughtering 100 deer in 'thrill kill'
NFA-ADK replied to wooffer's topic in General Chit Chat
GRRR, I would have to go with locking him in a room with a bunch of real Wisconsin hunters. I just can not fathom this, unbelievable. He should pay a fine for every deer, I say 2,000 per illegal would be ok. X 200 400,000$ would be ok after a 6 month jail term. Plus 10,000 hours of community service in forest preservation and rehabilitation. Take his fire arms, he has proven he is not worthy of such a privledge. And his hunting privledge revolked for life. His friend with him better watch out as the wardens, rangers, dec, conservation officers, troopers, and local police will no doubt keep a eye on them... My blood is boiling! I though I hated poachers, he takes this too a new level... -

Apparently It is illegal to hunt with a loaded crossbow while still hunting. I was hoping they would have a separate season so I would have a excuse to purchase one. Yet my primary form of hunting is still hunting and with the few chances I have at getting or even seeing a deer I am not able to have the cross bow loaded while hunting according to this e-mail from the DEC. I though it was a safety "rule" as opposed to law... It states in the crossbow certification qualification safety rules : • Never carry a cocked crossbow with a bolt in it while walking. Does this mean it is illegal to carry a loaded crossbow while still hunting? I never hunt from a stand in certain area’s and still hunt as my main form of hunting… Thanks, Jeff Calderone Jeff, As posted in the "Crossbow Safety Rules" it would indicate so. In the same page it would also indicate that "a crossbow is considered unloaded if the bolt is removed, regardless whether it is cocked or uncocked." Safety should always come first so it may be suggested if still hunting, walk with the bolt removed from the crossbow and when your game is identified and you are standing still (not walking) load your bolt. Mega Millions Jackpot - More than 1/2 Billion Dollars
NFA-ADK replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
I play when it gets up high and we have about 31 people who chip in a dollar every week for it at work. Larry that is tooooo funny!!! LOL If I win I would have a few dif new hunting grounds for our members!!! One in Ohio, at least 3 in NY and probably one in Maine. All would have an excessive amount of land and probably more than one house for guest!!! Remote video feeds for viewing your land and game! Good luck to everyone I hope someone who really needs this will win this time... Allthough who doesn't really need a 389 million dollar cash pay out? Talk about making a man cave wow!!! My question is what would you do with 389 million, besides donating to charity, new house, car, truck... I would pay off a morgage for my best friend, sell my house and move upstate, and make that 9,999 $ non taxable donation to a bunch of friends and family for a few years if not for life... Long vacation to think things over... The hunting cabin in the ADK would be nothing short of spectacular, with shooting range, man cave and everything a hunter could possibly want, except easy game! Best thing about money is not having to worry about it. I hope someday to be in that boat! -
LOL funny I just watched this like a month ago, I love him in this movie going after the twinkie's is just classic and made the movie great... And yes Emma is hot!!! O My is this the beginning of the end, again? I need to start a cult this year so I can get rich next year lmao...

I have to aim 10-12 feet above my target at 80 yards lol. 200 wow... It might be time to upgrade after 11 years but I love my MQ1!

Thanks for the vote of confidence John. After your yardage was set you were shooting great!!! I am just glad you did not get hurt!!! I am working on getting my back in shape but Im up for another shoot any time. Let me know if you want to try out Suffolk archers, I can take up to 3 people a year I believe. Otherwise I am always interested in hunting with good people!!! We can discuss that while shooting, I always have room in my wall tent for extra people... As long as you dont mind the 51/2 hour ride up... Otherwise I am always willing to check out new area's for hunting... Let me know when your bow is ready and we can shoot some more! This is our calendar of events for 2012: Many are open to the public, nice way to see if you like the place... That is how I was hooked... Great place to shoot and dues are afordable. http://www.suffolkarchers.com/schedule.html

I usually try to lay my pin steady over the bull then shoot. I try to follow steps to keep my form good. I keep them to a minimal to make it easyer. 1)Draw back, Anchor and hold slighty above target, trigger finger behind trigger concentrating on steady form!!! 2)Hold form steady and come down on target 3)As you are coming to target bull put finger on trigger 4)Shoot on steady bull center 5)Hold form after shot- I don't do this often enought... I try to emmulate the pro's like this guy Braden Gellenthien his form is amazing. If you have never watched a pro match or tounament you can learn a lot by watching thier form. I even see some pro's draw down and flinch just before the shot just like us amatures do... Here is a link to a couple of dif pro's in tournaments. Good post Woofer and DOC... I usually do the quick trigger on targets when my form (or lead arm)breaks down yet I find I am less acurate as I feel I am rushing the shot, again due to bad form usually for me. Going from target to target on our 3D range I usually shoot 1-4 arrows per target (4 if 2 targets)with the moving target getting all 8 arrows due to the fun factor, sometime twice... That usually allows for enough time for rest walking between targets yet I find my form breaks down the more I shoot... By my 50th shot my form sucks even with a break... Probably due to lead arm stress from putting a knife throught my finger last year... And now I have back issues to make matters worse... So much for good form... If I ever have to shoot more than 2 arrows when hunting, I think I would quite, yea right... Me quite hunting now thats funny... Funny I was on here new year eve and had to stop from posting(12:01) out of fear of persecution from my peers lol... Wow I need to get out more, lol. Some work to hunt, some live to hunt, some love to hunt then thiers me, wonder if I will ever shake my love of big buck hunting, hopefully NEVER!!!

My buddy reloaded my 44 rounds for me and wow what a differance. Much better grouping with a little less drop. He made them much stronger than a handgun round and they worked great. Big dif when you reload thats for sure! Point clear, know the limitations of your weapon and use it ethically... My main point would be why limit yourself unless you are in a limited area? Kinda goes back to the right tool for the right job... Hangun in treestand = bow in tree stand... Both will work within thier limits... Yet if I had 100 plus yard shooting lane I would prefer high power. All up to the situation and hunter... If it works for you use it if not throw it away. I must admit that is pretty cool getting a doe with a handgun FastEddie!

I started off OK and my form seemed to go down hill after the 2nd station. I atribute this to my back. Walking up to the "tree stand" station did not help my back, this was our 3 station(yellow). I did shoot ok yet I usually shoot better when my form is more consistant. That consistancy was lost after the 2nd station, I was able to get onto the target yet I would pre release when I could not get past my blocking point causing poor shots at times... It did not happen every shot yet when it did my shots were off... I am hoping as my back improves my form will stay more consistant. I will keep you posted.

SInce I put a knife through my finger last year I have noticed my form is not as good, go figure... With that I have developed the bad habit of getting "Stuck" at times when aiming and have noticed a premature release when trying to get onto the target and hitting that wall... I though it was just bad form or over exertion or my back locking up... (back issues past month) These syptoms seem to match my issues, I have no problems with getting to full draw or pre full draw release yet those other syptoms match... I am going to try the no look shots and try to improve my form, i purchased a kisser for extra alignment points, hope it helps. I notice It happens more after shooting a lot or if I am tired... Thanks for the info Geno, I though it was just me and my bad form acting up... I see I am not the only one that has this. So easy to get a bad habbit and break good form especialy when not physically fit like a bad back or arm. Getting old SUCKS!!! lol

I Love that 308 looks very compatible for my use!!! And my 44 is sighted in at 50 yards and I usually dont like to go past 85. 50 and shorter being my main area of focus...
