  1. Did the same thing when I went to Dick's Sporting goods store. I could not find any clothing that was made in the USA for hunting...
  2. Povety, desperation, depression and lack of a job or income to support yourself can all lead to drug/alchohol abuse. Just because someone has money does not exclude them from these things but it makes it one less thing to worry about... The fact that actors and singers and others do drugs for recreation usually causes thier own downfall. Most of these poeple never used drugs untile they became famous. When the fame takes over the drugs are availible in excess and most can not hand it. PS: Most people in america do drugs, Caffeine is a drug, so is nicotine. Picture how many poeple would FREEK OUT if they could not get thier coffie in da mornin... I agree with most here, sad but could have been prevented... And yes this is the most time I spent on this subject because she caused her own downfall through bad choices. Feel sorry for the family and friends... May she rest in peace.
  3. I had the same issue with the salemen from Home Depot. I tell him I am not signing anything today, and he says at the end of the conversation,"If you sign today we will take off 10 %..." I said to him you just lost a sale because you were my 1st estimate... I said if you were up front with me and said that IF I give a estimate today and signed it would be 10% less I might have bitten. I would have gotten the Home depot estimate last... But he even told me I can get it done cheaper by someone other than Home depot, but home depot gives a warrenty and wont disapear was his sales pitch... Pissed off I kicked him out after wasting 1 hour for a bathroom estimate...
  4. My buddy has been doing it for a few years now. You can make very good rounds realativly cheap. Nice when you get up in caliber or shoot a lot. Please be careful. Remember to match round with rifle and check powder charge for that rifle not just the round... Congrats on a whole new reason to shoot!!! Remember the primer is most vital... Makes me want to get one, ok im jealous. OK Story time... Hunter goes to my buds cabin in Roscoe and NEVER EVER see's a deer in the woods while hunting. He is at the cabin with my buddy "owner" and a buck walkes through and he asks if he can shoot it. This is a huge no no at this cabin by his rules but he makes a exception due to the hunters lack of success and some compasion by him. "Go ahead take him" he says reluctanly. Hunter lines up his shot takes aim and Click, "Dam realoads suck" he says in disgust as the buck bounds off the property owner laughing on the floor... True Story
  5. Amazing how you can make "Statistics" work for you, makes me wonder about how the statistics were made up for BO... And people wonder why I question "Statistics". Statistics can be made to match what you want it to show if you exclude certian things... I do not agree with these stats. Sounds political to me, wonder what the DEC's agenda is for posting this.
  6. Wow what a BRUTE!!! Amazing buck, Congrats!!! Very nice!!!
  7. If you can match my IT job's pay I will move, lol... doubt that's possible... Love the job post... Funny cause I was soooo close to cutting my ties on LI and moving upstate... Mom got real upset... Guese I am a moma's boy... The fact that I have 4 boats, 1 yak, one john boat, one deep V bass tracker 14ft and one 21 ft center console might qualify me. Love of the outdoors is a mute point along with fishing.

    Climbers

Love my tree climber stand but do not use it that much. If the tree is large and alive my climber will hold on does not matter what kind of tree. I stay away from anything with noticable dead branches or damage to it's core or possible disease or insect infestation. Otherwise I test it about 1 ft off the ground if it holds with my 170lbs jumping on it, it's usually good. I swing from the top part to test it while I am about 6inches off the ground. If both top and bottom of the climber hold on the ground you should be ok... PS: Always wear your safety strap so if you fall you will still be able to get back into your stand!!! Keep it above you as taught as possible with out restricting your movement. Put it above your bow/gun hook so if you fall you are not below your stand, this extra safety should make it possible for you to get back into your stand if you fall. Make sure you are capable of doing one pull up, migh sound funny but if you can not, you will not be able to pull yourself back into the stand... And if you can't do one pull up, think twice about using a stand. JMO
  9. I would move to the middle of the ADK and build a underground bunker with hidden/star gazing/deer watching tower that looked like a tree. Set up a deer beding area/buck hide out above my bunker for good company. Plant some food plots and ponds for my animals and make some trails for my new toys and do a lot of hunting, hiking and camping!!! And I would get my hunting buddy of over 24 years into his 1st buck!!! The NFA club would be NFA inc. Sell house on the Island and get a waterfront on the upper canal system or lake and the LI sound for fun commuting by boat!!!
  10. Funny how state land is "forever wild" (ADK)and should never have any trees cut. But we will cut trees to make new trails, keep existing trails and roads open. We will stop forest fires, even if naturaly occuring. So again how is that natural??? I feel something should be done to get some diversity in some of the forest deviod of life due to poor habitat... Or just close the entire park so only people who can hike a few miles can enjoy it, who cares about everyone else as long as it is quiet when I go hiking... We should close 87N due to the fact that someone might be hiking close to the road and might hear a truck... I debated clear cutting or controled burns , setting up food plots, planting apple trees and other assorted vegitation to help the deer and animal population but figured I would rather not get arrested for it. Hope you see the sarcasm.
  11. LOL Wooly funny. Wow great finds John amazing day, thanks for sharing!!! He will be the new G2-1 Buck. Good luck with that beast wow amazing day. The thought of that buck next year gives me a rush.
  12. Common S-10 problems. CV-joints/boots, window and power lock switches are horrible, ball joints, U - joints, transmisions, valve stem seals. O and the 4 wheel drive vacume switch on the transfer case sticks. I figure if I do not have to fix the vehecle, once the rust comes through I will sell it. Undercoating works wonders and clean out your fender wells during hard snow years to remove the salt!!!
  13. Sounds good Im in, recovering from a elbow issue and my bow is a little out of wack but I am down for hurling some bolts down range. Because I am a member of Suffolk archers it is free for me!!! I would like to see some new bow's too. If you are not doing anything John come on down and shoot the breeze!!!
  14. Some advice from a ex. chevy tech/service advisor. Over 13 years in chevy. DO NOT BUY A S10, they suck that is why they are cheap. Silverado is ok, hope you have some good tools cause as much as I love chevy's they just are not built to last. After leaving Chevy I purchased a Tacoma in 2003 never once did i brake down or need any major service... About 150,000 miles and still going strong... As a ex mechanic I did not want to work on my own vehecle and guese what besided maintenace, oil change, tune up's, tires etc. I have not had to fix a single thing in this truck. I love chevy product but just wish they made them better. Such a shame we can not build a long lasting vehecle that is designed to keep going, not brake down after a certian amount of usage... Only thing wrong is dash lights are out, not bad considering mi. and 9 years of driving...
  15. Not trying to be sarcastic, you started this post and the one about the hunter being shot late season. They contradict themselves... Just trying to find the facts...
  16. Thanks Skillet always nice to have options, looks like great work. Hopefully I will need these services again someday.
  17. http://www.myabc50.com/news/local/story/Manslaugther-charge-in-fatal-hunting-accident/rSODjG_1-Uu9_iuUtn9cOQ.cspx No so sure this report is accurate, sorry... This guy died after regular season. Not trying to be confrontational but this story does not make sense to me if this guy died after regular season, when this story states: "All of the fatalities occurred during the regular deer season, one of which was self-inflicted." Is this story wrong??? Edwards -- The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office has completed its investigation into a fatal hunting accident that happened on the Fordham Hill Road in the Town of Russell on December 11th. Just before 5:00pm, 911 dispatch received a call of an accidental shooting. Sheriff's Deputies arrived on the scene to find the victim, 49 year old Paul Hatch of Russell, approximately two hundred yards from the road, shot once in the chest. Their investigation revealed that Hatch and 20 year old Tyler Soper of Edwards, were tracking a wounded deer. Soper shot at what he thought was the deer and hit Hatch by mistake. Hatch was transported to Canton Potsdam Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Soper was charged with 2nd degree Manslaughter and arraigned in the Town of Pierrepont Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with no bail pending further proceedings.
