  1. Bottom right was first shot of the day, 10 yards.
  2. Good way to test your ability. Do you really think it's that bad Gringo?
  3. I think the larger animals have less struggle when snow is deep. I also think some mature bucks know where the doe are and the smarter ones tend to travel less making them better prepped for the winter. Some will always run themselves to death, usually the less dominant ones.
  4. Carrying capacity is a big factor when relating to food resources and that has a direct relation to health, if winters are light that adds to additional good health equaling more animal, no argument their. The X-factor is US, we can simply wipe out any species we want if we really try, I am talking big game and medium like yotes. Look at any animal we considered "pests". They all went onto the endangered list at one point to basically save them. Next was regulations to save even more. Deer we decimated to less than 300,000 at one point the only thing that saved them was conservation. We have the ability to decimate just about any population if the demand is high enough, we have done it many times throughout history. Today we have more and better weapons.
  5. The first pic was from Sunday at a field shoot. and the second pic is today at 80 yards. First Pic with orange arrow (Not my arrow) is from top left to clock wise. 80,70, both in Bull, then 60,50yards both out lol Arg! Second pic was 80 today and my first shot was he lowest! Not sure what happened, if I dropped my arm or what but the shot and release I felt was dead on, have to start marking my arrows because I have some inconsistency. (I know some of the fletching is slightly torn but nothing major, see what happens when I mark and check them. Even possible I used the wrong pin!) Was happy with my last group, all 10's with 2 - 12's from 23 to 50 yards, and the deer at 50 was one of the 12's. Good to leave on a high note! My neck and back issues are subsiding somewhat, luck me work has been light. This will be the first week I have been able to shoot 3 days, hope I stay in line as the bow is ready I just need to work on good form, see how I hold up!
  6. Glad to get this started!!! Thanks ...Rob! This was a couple weeks ago. First two targets are 25 and 30 yards, deer was my last group at 50 was not very happy with my lowest shot. My eyes are getting worse, definitely need glasses this year.
  7. Suffolk Archers is hosting the Hunter's Rendezvous this year on August 20th at 9 AM. This is all about deer hunting. We have speakers on shot placement, tracking, calling, blood tracking, scent control and area's open to the public for hunting deer. We often get experienced hunters to come down to these events and tell about experiences they have had while tracking or calling etc. This is a great time to share stories and help out new hunters, teaching about deer and just have a great time sharing experiences. ATBuckHunter and myself did the shot placement last year with Charley and I was able to do some calling before the group was onto another demonstration. Should be a great time and is open to the public. We have breakfast and lunch served. Come on down it's a great time with some great people who love the outdoors! We had a few members from the site come last year and it was great meeting all of you, hope some more can make it this year!!!
  8. This Pit Bull was saved as a baby by this owner who found him cowering near his home in a corner scared and alone. Unable to bring him to a shelter as they will only kill "Those Types of dogs" they ended up keeping the dog and it has never bit any other cat or dog in the area yet after an attack on there goat that killed the animal this dog ended up killing a coyote the very next day! GO SPIKE!!! Warning graphic content of a dog killing a sick looking coyote.
  9. Like Grampy stated they are survivors that probably are one of the few creatures to survive over millions of years. Basically a perfect predator like gators, two animals I hope never latch onto me! Awesome pics! I ran out of likes but probably would have used them all up on this page anyway. LOL Rachunter " from the title I was expecting one of my co-worker"
  10. But if you trap them wont the just produce more according to what is posted!??? (Sarcasm) Not so says the trapper, and this is not the first time I have heard a trapper say this! If you work at removing them with trapping and other types of hunting they will have the populations lowered simple as that. And Biz stop insulting us deer hunters, lol. "I'm smart, not like people always saying." I figure most will know that quote.
  11. Personally I don't believe the theory: (If you shoot to many coyotes they will just reproduce more.) Can't reproduce if they are dead.
  12. If you don't want the fish to be eaten make a deep spot deeper than 3 ft. My buddy moved 2 catfish this week to another holding pond and a raccoon we thing ate one. It was low about 1.5 ft now he filled it to almost 3 ft and moved the survivor to another pond. Anything less than 2 ft and most predators can get them.
  13. One thing is for sure if you do it and it stays filled you will attract wild life, they are magnets especially in dry months.
  14. They say the yotes in our area have a bit of wolf in them and is the reason they are typically larger than most other areas of the country. No doubt in my mind they pack up, all to often I have heard them in larger groups while out hunting. The back of Long Lake rings a bell as they had what sounded like a large pack. Most often I spot them solo when hunting. If I had small outdoor pets I would be concerned and keep an eye on them. They are such an opportunistic animal, any chance at a free meal is taken especially small pets who make real easy meals. This is why you really want a larger dog to protect your house and pets! Doberman saves
  15. Usually in November we take water from the rivers and can only use one of the tanks to heat it up it gets so hot, really good design.
  16. Sending another prayer just for good luck! Hope things stay well!
  17. So he is a tree hugger? lol Nothing wrong with that, I love them so much I have to find the biggest buck and stop him from killing them! I will let you know when that happens, if it ever does, lol.
  18. I use something like this in the wall tent. It works really good, simple bilge pump and propane heater. Pump works with car bat. 12v We use an extra bucket for more water and a plastic bin to catch the water. Nothing like a hot shower after chasing deer a few days!
  19. Brute of a buck, good luck with him!
