How about stop whining. the DEC is exercising there authority under the 2012 -2016 deer management plan to control deer numbers. Some of you guys think this is a state wide change it's 10 WMU's including 2 WMU's I hunt in. These wmu's for the most part have very limited access. Will this change increase the antler-less harvest yes but not by a lot. The main problem in these units is access, not being able to kill deer. Now the guy who thinks earn a buck is the way to go this is 10 wmu's not the whole state. Deer tags are good for the whole state with the exception of dmp's. How would they decide who would have to earn a buck and who would not. Next the guy who wants deer densities to be given out for all wmu's. 2 things on this. 1 if the DEC gave out that information it would be a average for the whole wmu. Some parts of the wmu would have higher then average deer densities and some lower if you hunted the lower then average part of the wmu then you would say there numbers are wrong. 2 the dec dose give a season forecast out in August or September for all wmu's. IF THE DEC DID GIVE OUT DENSITY NUMBERS GJS4 WOULD NOT BELIVE THEM. He has better numbers he doesn't share.

Oh here we go another dam fool who wants elected officials to make wildlife management dissensions, when the DEC dose something he doesn't like. You do understand that the NY Assembly is run by liberal democrats from NYC and we are 1 vote away from that happening in the state senate. This is the same group that wanted the set back for all hunting from 500 to a 1000 ft and they want ban all guns. So quit whingeing. The DEC has to manage more then your little part of deer heaven.

Not only PA. take a look at Iowa. no ar's in Iowa but you can still decimate a deer herd by over harvsting does

Hey Wooly how many does in the bar came a running, or did they just run away

I hunt down near Swain NY when I started to hunt down there in the eighty's with the Monday opener the bar was standing room only. But as the years went by there started to be and fewer and fewer people in the bars and restraints. This started to happen well before the Saturday opener. Do I know why I can only guess. Hunter numbers were declining, land changed hands this area is in WMU9P, this WMU went from everyone getting 2 DMP's to having to have preference points to get one DMP. The way we hunt also changed gone are the days of the deer drive now we sit on stand. Also we are not happy to shoot a deer we have to shoot the biggest deer we can find if someone shoot a deer smaller then something seen on TV then there not hunters. I think some just left the sport because it became no longer fun. Things down where I hunt seem to have stabilized.

love it I no longer get paid time off. if I take a day it is without pay. I use to have 6 weeks vacation at Kodak. but now I can take days off but without pay.

I would call the finding Bigfoot people. I think you may have hair from a Bigfoots ass. you didn't find a big pile of crap or hear howling and grunting or some stinky pine cones. if you did then there you go what you have is a Bigfoot taking a dump and ripping the hair off his ass with the pine cones.

I would call the DEC. what ever we say is what I call a wag. We don't enforce or interpret the law and none of us is going to get the ticket or fine. Your tag on the back when fill out the month and day of the kill is the day you recover it I would think you need a gun tag. If the rack brakes off if you have one or both sides you can put it on a buck tag. But here again I would call DEC.

Here's what I do, I go out to the stand 1hr to ½ hr before shooting time. I don't knock a arrow or load my gun till shooting time. On opening day of gun season I listen to see when I hear the first shot. I stop hunting at sunset and I am out of the stand in 5 or 10min. But there are times when I will stay in the stand longer. Like the time I had lowered my bow and 2 bucks came by chasing a doe I sat up in the stand and watched them chase the doe around.

I hunted the Keeney Swamp state forest 2 years a go on Thanksgiving day and my son and I had the whole place to are selves when we left there at 12noon their were no cars on any of the roads. We saw plenty of deer and no hunters. Now I didn't hunt there on opening day and i'm sure there were guys there but I can't say how many. If you look most guys are shot by someone in there own hunting party then by a stranger.
