Pound it flat with a meat tenderizer... Dip in egg and then Italian breadcrumbs... Fry in a pan for a few minutes on each side. Take out 2 packages of meat because the first one will not last long.. Also, you can add additional seasoning to the bread crumbs... I prefer a little Cheyenne pepper and some extra garlic powder/salt... Let me know if you try it out...

uovision... Is that the company that makes the U-way camers? Would like to get some new ones built similar to the old 550's

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Long-Range-ScoutGuard-BolyGuard-SG550V-31B-5MP-Hunting-Scouting-Game-Camera-/161343254802?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2590ceb112 In my opinion, the best camera for the money... Scoutguard 550.. Have had 2 of them for 5 or 6 years now and they have outperformed any other camera that I have owned.. They are not sold in the big box stores, so not as popular as some of the other brands.. They just work year after year..

This is the biggest 6 I ever saw.. Got it with the bow a couple years back... The very long brow tines are actually split main beams on both sides...

Bushnell, That was my exact thought.. At some point it becomes self defense and I think I would have handled it a bit differently!!

Just my opinion, but unless you have the time to search for a "badly" hit deer, you have no right to take a shot in the first place. Especially a shot that is a bad angle. What are you thinking??? Things happen, but even the best prepared and practiced archer makes a bad shot now and then. You need to exhaust ever effort to find ever deer whether a perfect shot or a poor one. I think that obligation is greater when you choose to take a poor shot ("again, bad angle). Again, just my 2 cents, but my reccomendation would to get out a first light tomorrow and give it a 100% effort. BTW, if you don't want honest feedback, don't post stories like this on this site!!

Western NY..... What is that crop... Assuming some type of brassica, but looks a bit different than I am familiar with.

I have one of those pictures too... Makes you think twice when walking in to your stand in the ealry AM..

I do not have an issue with the farmers... I have an issue with the people that are willing to lay down big $$$ to hunt a farm raised deer.... The thought of that is just min boggling to me, but if people are willing to pay for it, than I have no issue with the role the farmer plays... They are just trying to make a living.

Grizzly's, just a few miles south of the south entrance of the park.. Bet processor I have used by far. They let the deer hang and age.. what a difference!!!

I tend to agree with Wooly.... If you hit forward of the vitals, you will get red blood full of clots... sometimes you will get a tremendous amontn of blood and then they will just clot up and the blood trail ends.. It makes for a very frustrating search.... you are only into muscle, so they will often survive these hits. Talk to your butcher... they will tell you stories about how they are butchering a deer and they will find a broadhead heeled over in the muscle tissue.. They are tough animals!!!

Slick Tricks. No reason to go with anything else... Have tried a lot of different heads over the years and these are probably the best. At the end of the day, if shot choice and placement is good, they will all get the job done.. It is more a matter of what you are confident in.

My experience is that you never want to point the camera in the direction of the sun. The light form the sun will trigger the camera. You also want to ensure that there are no branches or tall weeds in the line of sight of the camera as the wind will trigger as well.

Thanks for all the input guys.. Got a a few good choices to try out and see what the gun likes best... Really excited to put some rounds thru it next weekend at camp!

I have read a lot of positive reviews on this site about the 25.06 caliber and the versatility.. I also talked to some friends that have experience with it and more positive thoughts... So I pick up a rifle today and intend to use it this upcoming deer season ( they opened up rifle in Livingston county, so that presents a new opportunity)... That said, just wondering what cartridge people like in 25.06 for deer? I do not reload, so limited to commercially available ammo.. Your thoughts are appreciated!

Correction.. I have the 1/2 hp... But still more grinder than I will ever need... Makes quick work of everything!!!
-
I have a 3/4 hp cabelas grinder that I bought a couple of years ago... Plenty of power to do anything I have ever wanted to.. Very quiet! Grinds 10 pounds of venison in less than a minute..

Do they go by another name on the welters site? I looked but did not see them listed

Deerthug, Tried this on the 4th at camp... Easy and very tasty.. I got a lot of compliments... Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Just a little bit... It was so wet early and I was really busy with a new job... Just getting caught up now and trying to focus on later planting winter plots.. Stored the remainder of the corn seed in a seal container and have stored in a cool place. Should be fine for next year.
-
I have traditionally had good success with both biological and antler king brassicas... I like to plant at least 4 acres as I believe having food in the winter is critical. That said, would like to get some suggestions on trying something different. I do like trying different things, so open to any suggestions... Also interested to know where to get the seed/crop you recommend... In am in the Rochester area.. Thanks in advance for your help..

Do you mind sharing your chili recipe? Looks really good

WNY, what is your method for broadcast planting? I have tried in the past with little success, but certainly willing to try a new method.. In the past I have used a 2 row planter with good success..
