Still at war with the vermin . I was out by the shed where I store my ATV yesterday and saw something scurry under the shed tent flap . Put out the cheapie wooden mouse traps and checked this am . Caught a mouse in one and a Vole in another . I need Grampy to trap that Killer Chipmunk and send it my way !

Thanks for the replies . I may give it a try . The woods I have to hunt are wet and I mean WET with a lot of standing water . I think the turkeys that go through there have webbed feet !

Has anyone or does anyone ever turkey hunt from a ladder stand with a shooting rail and camo skirt for concealment ? The woods I hunt are very wet and any chair / stool , etc would sink in . Wonder if hunting from an elevated place would be a stupid idea .

Definitely Turkeys . I havn't tried turkey hunting but maybe a dozen times and have never shot one . The closest was when a jake was with a bunch of hens . Didn't shoot for fear of hitting a hen . I don't get the heart beat with turkeys as I do with deer .

I Had my clothes sprayed with the Sawyer's Permethrin and had a camo face net on . The skeeters , etc didn't bother me except a couple times when they landed near my eyes .

It's only 730 and I haven't heard any birds or shots. I forgot my stool so I am sitting against a tree behind a big log . I expected to at least see some deer through the trees but no luck . A few minutes ago I was using the box call and a fox crossed the ditch and headed my way until it caught my scent and took off . Too quiet ! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I used to be able to rub poison ivy on me and never got it until one extremely hot day when I was was putting up a permanent stand and got into some poison oak . Then I would get a touch of it every year even if I wasn't near it . Back to the Topic -- I sprayed my clothes with the Sawyer's Permethrin last night and hung them in the garage .

Grizz - you showed good restraint . If you had confronted the other guy , you probably would have gotten your ass kicked . I havn't Turkey hunted in several years as I had gotten disappointed with other hunters . I am waiting until tomorrow am to go out on Private Property in Geneseo . In the past I had experienced that turkey hunters would take off from work opening day and then hunt the weekends . So hopefully no one or very few will be out tomorrow .

I usually don't agree with doewhacker on much but I do on this occasion . Plead Not Guilty and it probably be down graded to something like "Failure to Obey a Traffic Sign" or something similar . They don't want to go to trial on something this small . You would still pay the same amount for the fine plus the sur-charge . That has been my experience . The Town attorney in Walworth even asked me if I would agree to plead to the lesser charge would would not put points on my license . Hopefully this would work out for you .

I figured since I have the whole house Generator I would give my portable to my oldest son . It's a GENERAC rated at 5000 watts . I hadn't started it in over a year and tried to start it last month . Couldn't get it to start and put it back as it was crappy weather . Bought a spark plug but hadn't put it in yet > Briggs and Stratton engine . I had drained all the gas out and put in fresh non ethanol and still no go . I moved the snow blower out of the garage . I put the wheels and handle back on the GENERAC and brought it around to the front of the garage ready to do battle . I checked the shut-off , flipped the on switch and gave the cord a pull . That sucker started right up and I let it run for at least 20 - 25 minutes . I lucked out !

I bought some Dryer Sheets today . I will put them on the mower and ATV also .

I don't "age the deer" . I skin it , bone it out , put in the fridge until I can clean it , package it , grind and freeze it .
