  1. My understanding was that a 22 , 223 , etc are all .224 diameter ...... 22 5.56 mm 0.223-0.224 in .22 Long Rifle, .222 Remington, .223 Remington, 5.56×45mm NATO, 5.7 x 28 mm, .22-250 Remington, .22 Airgun
  2. Hey Doc ..... My SIL uses these and so do a couple friends and they say they are great . I think DICKs , Tractor Supply and other stores carry them . Here is a link showing various of Snow / Ice Grippers that you wear over boots or shoes . Note : Don't wear them on hardwood floors ! http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?_adv_prop=image&fr=crmas&va=snow+grippers+for+shoes
  3. The Christmas Song that perks me up is " All I Want For Christmas Is You " by Mariah Carey ..........
  4. I was out clearing my driveway and un-burying my trailer with the snowblower . It was 18 degrees out . Someone pulled into the driveway and asked if I cleared neighbor's driveways . I said no and that I blessed the old snowblower every time I went out to use it hoping it would start and run . He then asked if I knew anyone that plowed driveways . I suggested that he look at the driveways that looked like they were plowed out and ask the homeowner who they use for a Plow Jockey . I have no idea who the guy is or where he lives . I guess I am not the Good Samaritan ............If you live in Western NY , you have to be pro-active when it comes to the weather . You can't wait until you have a foot of snow in the driveway and then try to figure out how to get rid of it .
  5. Damn Doc , 20 years on a pair of boots . That's some great service . Problem is , they don't make them like they used to .......
  6. I am at the point where I would like to call it quits but ....... I might give it a try in Walworth tomorrow afternoon and then probably Geneseo on Tuesday . Tuesday is forecasted to have a heat wave of 31 degrees but there will be a wind chill factor . I might be better off working and making some money but I want to avoid being a failure during the regular hunting seasons . I guess I will just have to trudge through a foot+ of snow and give it a final try .
  7. It is also illegal to possess shotgun shells loaded with slug or ball unless holding a valid license (including carcass tags ) or permit to take deer or bear ....
  8. I get a lot of stalls with Chrome .... Kill pages or Wait ..... it's a pain in the ass
  9. I had considered going out this afternoon but changed my mind . I drove into Webster to get a few things . The roads were fair but some of the drivers on the "104 Corridor" were nuts . The right lane was traveling about 45 mph . Some dipsy lady was driving a bit below 40 mph in the left lane . Cars were driving around her to keep the traffic flow moving . It was worse on the way home . The roads had been plowed but it was still snowing and it was slushy & slippery . Saw a couple of accidents on the way home . We might go out to dinner tonight as it's only 1 1/2 miles away but I am not going to drive anywhere to hunt .
  10. I can't use the font size , smileys , color change , underline , etc on Mozilla FireFox but I can on Google Chrome . Havn't figured what is blocking it yet .
  11. I will bet some driver is out of a job now ........
  12. We had about 8" of snow overnight . I cleared the driveway with the Snow Blower and felt fairly comfortable doing it as it was 17 degrees out . Thought I might go to Walworth this afternoon to my friend's property and sit out for a bit . Weny out to get the mail at noon . When that freezing breeze hit me , I changed my mind real quick . It is presently 20 degrees out . DDDDDDDDDamn !
  13. t_barb ..... the trigger throws me off . I have always been used to a firm trigger . I also have a Ruger LCP .380 ...... it's pull , pull , pull before feeling any resistance on the trigger and I hate that .
  14. Yet - the fat Cats in Washington keep their pay and pensions . This really sucks ! Serve your country and get screwed .
  15. Would that require 2 tags ? lol
  16. I got one on the Trail Cam a couple years ago ...........
  17. Grow ... good advice . That sucker is heavy and shows a two man lift for safety on the carton . A chain or cable would be okay but the lock could be cut . If someone wanted it bad enough , they could dig to the Quick Crete and break it up with a sledge hammer . I guess it wouldn't hurt to hide a Trail cam near it .
  18. I am getting this for Christmas . When I ordered it , it was $248 plus tax and free shipping . The stand is HEAVY ! I plan to set the platform up in the summer and place the hub blind on it in maybe August . http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ameristep-Brickhouse-Blind-and-6-Vantage-Point-Quad-Pod-Value-Bundle/32176756
  19. Congrats ... nice going . Were you wearing snow shoes ?
  20. I got unemployment when I got out of the Marine Corps . I was out a month before getting a job . I got a big check for something like $23 . It was the only one I ever got .
  21. Congrats ! I hope you weren't trying to revive the deer with the bottled water .
  22. Unposted Property --- I don't go on someone's property unless I have permission even if it's not posted . I know the boundaries of the properties I hunt . It only seems right .
  23. They used to do a "Bait and Shoot" in Irondequoit with off duty police officers . It was costing the town a lot of money . They started a program to let bow hunters shoot the deer and that program has been in effect for several years now , saving the town quite a bit of money . When Xerox was laying off quite a few people years ago , someone was going around the office saying ," they are are giving away free coffee and donuts in the cafeteria but don't go , it's a bait and shoot" !
