  1. I don't, but it looks good. As long as the foot platform can be snugged up against the tree I'm sure it will be a great stand!
  2. It's like testing spaghetti, you throw it at the wall and see if they stick. Although the door in this case is also a good idea.
  3. I read that a lot of the self butchers use the vacuum pack, I don't because after 2-3 deer it would start to get costly for those specific bags. Granted it's still cheaper than paying a processor. I bought a huge roll of plastic wrap from BJ's probably 3 years ago and still have not used it up. For the roasts, straps ,and tenderloins I double wrap them with the plastic wrap and then wrap in freezer paper and label them. They last a long time w/o any freezer burn. The ground I just double wrap in the plastic and put in the freezer. I go through the ground much faster making jerky, snack sticks, and experimenting with sausage. I do have a food saver and use it a lot freezing leftovers, cooked chicken, and other meals that are easily thawed for a quick dinner and even better on a camping trip as they keep great in the cooler.
  4. When I first started hunting deer we were fortunate that one of the guys we hunted with(an old German) had a brother that worked at the Buffalo slaughter house so we would get together over a few beers and "help" him cut up our deer. Since he passed I went to several local guys but was never really satisfied with the finished product. When my wife bought me a decent grinder for Christmas one year I decided to start doing them myself. Larry, @Lawdwaz was a huge help those first couple of deer helping me get back into it and I have never looked back. I've done deer for several friends and have passed Larry's "knowledge" on along the way. I can't thank Larry enough for his help over the years with butchering deer and so many other unmentioned things, he is truly a great friend!
  5. Happy birthday guys! I hope you both have a great day!
  6. Larry, I believe you're miss understanding what Chef is saying, I seems to me that he uses the life line to pull up his bow not as an actual life line?
  7. I like a ladder stand with a good padded flip up seat and the platform must be large enough and go all the way back to the tree. As Gman said I like to stand up with my back against the tree and those ladder stands with the little platforms don't do that. Also, use extra ratchet straps and strap the platform to the tree as it will make the stand feel much more secure. As for the shooting rails I don't even use them, they are always in the way. JMHO
  8. Prayers sent and continue to send. She will get through this! As everyone else has said there have been tremendous advances in treatment. My wife is a BC survivor of 4 years now, my SIL over 20 years! This is why I participate in the 11 Day Power Play to raise funds for the continuing research that has made such advancements in the treatments of all cancers. Godspeed my friend!
  9. I have the same gun and I use 2 pyrodex pellets with a Hornady 45 cal XTP bullet and a good sabot. The bullets I bought in a box of 100 and the sabots come in pkg of 50. This combo shoots great/accurate and is not expensive. You'll love the gun especially when it comes to cleaning it! Good luck and have some fun sighting it in!
  10. Happy Birthday @johnplav! I hope you have a great day!
  11. No sump pump here, but I do have a floor drain that was supposed to be capped off per town regs years ago! I'll have to put in a sump pump if I ever sell the house. But not a drop in the basement. Thank God! I put in a gate valve in the sewer line in the basement as I have a toilet in the basement, if the town sewer ever backs up the toilet is the lowest outlet. Someone has to be home to close the valve in an emergency. So far I've never had to use it. Again TG!
  12. Digital thermometers are great for checking the temp of stuff on the grill, but when smoking I don't want to be opening up the smoker to check Temps, thats when I use the Weber probe. Works for me although the wireless would be nice.
  13. I don't have any experience with the wireless meat thermometer but it looks good. Did you end up getting it? I use the Weber Igrill app and it has a wired probe. the wireless probe would be a nice feature! The range would be great but my experience with wireless range is never as good as the manufacturer states, once there is a wall in way the range drops a lot.
  14. Bump Thanks again to all that have made a donation, I'm getting real close!!
  15. Virgil, this comes from a retired building inspector, every town/municipality is different, but they all are supposed to follow the same building codes. I suggest that you ask first and try to avoid a conflict with your inspector. As others have said it can very from an inspector throwing the book at you to a simple it's ok. But the bottom line is the codes are there to protect the consumer from bad contractors cutting corners and not building a safe product, plumbing that doesn't work properly, to faulty wiring methods that could cause a fire. You stated that your kitchen remodel involved adding windows, moving plumbing, and electric work, my question is... Did you do the work yourself? If so, do you feel confident that structurally it was framed properly? the plumbing done right? And is the electric safe? Only you can answer that, no one here can tell you it's done right or it's safe. Bottom line, it's your house and you need to what's right for you and your family.
  16. The first thing you'll need to do is insulate! otherwise it's going to be too cold 3/4 of the year! And once insulated you'll need to cover the insulation so it stays in place and doesn't get all torn up down the road. Then a small furnace or portable heater will be a nice. Maybe partition off a smaller area for the Cave, that way you won't have to insulate the entire garage.
  17. The town street cleaner went down my street today, maybe it's just me but, I think it would work better if it actually cleaned the street! It just pulls the crap away from the curb and leaves it in the street! I suppose it might keep the crap from getting into the storm sewer, but with heavy rain predicted it will still wash into the sewers! To top it off, the street cleaner went up and down the street 3x's!!
  18. We had a hen nest in our back yard 2 years ago, haven't seen or heard any hardly since. Rare sighting in downtown Snyder,NY!
  19. I couldn't believe this so I googled it, unfricking believable!! This should start another civil war!! https://www.ydr.com/story/opinion/2020/08/11/us-house-voted-remove-rebel-monuments-gettysburg-senate-must-stop/3344644001/

  23. I've been wanting to get a new US flag and add a blue lives matter flag on the other brick column at my front porch for some time now. Well I finally got around to it. I also added solar spot lights so I can leave the flags up 24/7. Wanted to get it done by Flag Day but oh well it's done.
