  1. Like most have noted, i would not enter a hunting situation without testing them first.
  2. Same gr., i cant see it being any different. I have shot out to 50 yards with both 150gr and 180gr with same rifle with no difference.
  3. Good thing the jerk used a fieldpoint, outcome would have been much different with a broadhead.
  4. Congrats to your daughter, her smile says it all. Great work dad.
  5. Hey TF, i think if your girl doesnt get one she will be totally fine with that. The quality time she spends with you seems to give her more staisfaction, that right there is what its all about. To think hunters on this forum bicker about what implements we should allow in bow season, we can all stand to learn a thing or two from this young lady. Good luck young lady and may you whack a big buck.
  6. Looks like a black racer as well, leave snakes alone people they do you no harm and help kill rodents.
  7. Come on, really? There are lobyists and industries for everything to make $$$$. Gun manufactorers, bow manufactorers all cater to the hunter to make $$$, why not the crossbow industry? Why should they be left in the shadows of the others. Gotta be fooling yourself to think any of these industries are pushing thier agenda to make you a more successful hunter or a less lazier hunter, their all out to take your almighty dollar.
  8. Agreed, much more hunters afield during reg. Season than bow and the volleys of gun fire i hear and rapid fire makes me wonder what these guys are shooting at. Not uncommon to hear multiple shots at running deer through fields. I call these the hail mary shots, a wish, a prayer and some luck. To be honest i have yet to encounter a wounded deer with an arrow sticking out, but on a couple occasions i had to put down deer with several gun shots in them. I just dont understand why hunters would not want another efficent tool to harvest deer during bow season. Crossbows are not a slam dunk solutuon to killing deer and certainly not on par with the effectiveness and range of a firearm, they are just another choice during bow. Enjoy life fellas, embrace change. In this instance its all good and fun.
  9. So sad, may God take him peacefully. My prayers are with you and his family.
  10. Want full body paint, go to times square...lol
  11. Welcome bud and best of luck. Many years ago we use to chase bunnies with hounds in stewarts. One time i ran into a local at a deli and he 3 nice bucks in his pickup. Although i never deer hunted stewart, i remeber him telling me like it was yesterday that his and his families key to sucess was to find the swamps in stewarts and setup on deer runway trails. He said when hunters came into stewarts it was almost comedic all the deer he would see in those swamps. Where those swamps in stewarts are, i dont know but im sure using google earth, topo maps, asking DEC would get you there. Best of luck!!!
  12. Yes eveyone is entitled to an opinion, however your opinion was meant to belittle people or make fun of hunters because they shoot "babies" 4's and 6's. Thats being a condescending prick!!! I remember seeing a Letchworth pic. Of a meatpole that had everything but a 120" deer, from what i saw there were a couple baby 4 and 6's too.
  13. Wheres the 120", i do see a couple 4's and 6's.
  14. Oh get over yourself!!! Well maybe just maybe those same people that shoot 4's and 6's are perfectly content with that. I have to admit, i find that deer ridiculous and silly looking. I'd rather shoot a wild, free range 110" 8 pointer over that guy any day of the week. Its a given that most deer pen operations can be profitable, but why make an assuption that all hunters should be into a freak like that? Is Doc any less of a hunter because he chooses to shoot a 4 or 6 or maybe his area doesnt hold bucks over 120" . Come down off the pedestal bud, to each his own.
  15. Im baffled that some hunters get so upset and try to present an argument against allowing crossbows, youth season etc...i dont see how another weapon type would offend or ruin my hunting. Its like choosing to shoot a muzzleloader during regular gun season , who cares. Guess as i get older, the means to the kill is less important to me. For me the end result is the same, meat in the freezer, enjoying nature and most important is sharing that full circle with family. Let people enjoy a crossbow during archery, yes i agree they are easier to shoot then a vertical. I say have at it, life is way too short.
