  1. Man with a view like that what the hell you doing inside, id be out hiking about in that beauty.
  2. Great looking shotgun and a great gauge. Enjoy !! I have a 410 myself, single shot Ithaca.
  3. Im not sure yet if im ready to part with them, but im close by you and have a 2 bottom plow and a disc. Both are heavy duty, older and more stout then the stuff they sell today. If your interested let me know and i might consider selling them. Would have to take both because i have no use for one with out the other.
  4. Good thing i read through all your posts because before reading this one i was going to suggest that you go to agway in Stamford and speak with them. They will steer you right and have lots of seed variety, lime and fertilizer. Im in harpersfield, and thats where i go for all my plot essentials. They will also deliver lime by the truckload based upon your soil tests. They also do soil tests as well.
  5. Very possible its the same deer. One year I had a buck pass my plot that had a small palmated rack on both sides and had a long muzzle (very identifiable features). I posted the story here a couple years ago. At that time the buck was 1 1/2 year old. That was the only picture i ever had of that buck, he was taken off a neighboring property 5 years later at 6 1/2 years old. They called him the moose buck and he was featured in that years DEC regulation book. These deer have an amazing resilience to survive and reappear many years later. He almost made it to live another year but was killed in the late season with a ML.
  6. Venison Jerky, sat in brine overnight, then used slight brush of sweet baby rays. Now in the smoker, using hickory wood.
  7. 150lbs. to seed 2 1/2 acres is very excessive. My vote is for white Ladino clover.
  8. Trust me if you have the money it helps. Walking around NYC its common to see 60yr. Old men holding hands with 20-30 year old woman, trust me it aint the mans looks thats getting those woman. Makes me laugh...Whats the saying.." money talks and bull$hit walks"....For now I'll have to rely on my good looks...lol
  9. Its all good, keeps us young and active. I wouldnt change a thing about my hectic life. Theres always the alternative. My moto "There will come a time when we will have plenty time to rest".
  10. Set up an annuity with monthly payments and you can live very well for the rest of your life on one or two million.
  11. I have never wore one. The key is to have a slight bend in your elbow and lightly grip your bow.
  12. Welcome aboard bud, enjoy!!! Great group of people here.
  13. No i dont use chemicals on my property, i have a stream that trout spawn in (as per the DEC) and although this plot is a couple hundred yards away from stream, i dont like taking chances of chemicals seeping into the stream. I could use chemicals, but never chose to. Once the plots are established (following spring) I mow my clover plots regularly so they can compete with natural grasses. This natural approach has worked many years for me. Instead of using chemicals what i do is till my fields let them sit for a couple weeks, then disc. and also use a drag to get a good seed bed. I agree the clover is a big attraction over winter, they dig thru the snow like crazy to get to the clover. Some fields with snow look like bombs went off all over...lol..i also have another clover plot that sits a couple hundred yards above this one that i planted last spring as well and thats getting hammered just as much.
  14. White ladino clover plot i put in last spring, was able to give it a cut today and snap a few pics. In center of property, very secluded. Deer have been frequenting it all times of day and night.
  15. DEC and the army corps. Of engineers. Start with your local DEC.
  16. Just a quick point not to confuse, in all logic once a bait pile is gone thats just it, its gone. A food plot and / or water source can potentially sustain wildlife year round (thats my intention). Those are 2 huge variables. Thats why i take insult when people say food plots are bait or unethical. You dont have to agree, but dont cast stones.
  17. I'll speak for myself, i put more into my property with putting in plots, planting trees, timber mgt., water sources etc...that benefit all wildlife, not just deer. My intent is to feed animals year round, not to just go to a plot and shoot "them". I put way more into my land then i would ever take. Until you have been a part of land mgt., food plots etc...you have no idea of how labor intensive and costly it can get. Thats my choice. But dont sit there and type things that make you sound like you have no clue of what it entails. I get more out of enhancing my land for wildlife then actually killing an animal, and based upon your analysis of us food plotters that is something you dont seem to understand.
  18. Id guess 22-24" outside spread.
  19. They seem damn proficent to me, at the end they got what they came for, meat!!! May not be pretty but end results are same.
  20. Some type of harvester, looks to have its own storage unit for the crop and a chute that feeds it. Thats huge.
  21. Browning is the way to go for their size, ease of use, quality picture and at a relatively good price.
