  1. Here is the addy if anyone is interested in picking one up.
  2. Years ago, I seen an ad for this Journal and sent away for it. Great way to keep all your past and future hunts documented.
  3. Totally amazing as what some people come up with!!!
  4. Wooly, is that a single shot 10 gauge?
  5. Great find Danno!!! Wonder what the value of that gun would be in todays collector market?
  6. Like you, I also have a Winchester 1300 NWTF Edition from many years ago. I had some barrel work done to it by Pro-port, a sister company to Mag-Na-Port. Had the forcing cone lengthened, along with having the barrel ported. This work seems to have improved the overall patterning of the gun. Not so much the porting, but the forcing cone work did.
  7. I agree with you there!!! You'll notice that most of those shows are filmed on private land with a lot of birds as well. That's the other part that is misleading to the new comers of this sport. It's not that easy as they make it out to be on those video's. On public lands where your in constant competition with others for the same birds, and hunter ethic's are thrown out the window to get a bird at all costs. yeah, it gets old watching those video's for sure.
  8. I have been a diehard Mathew's owner for over 20 years now. (2 bows) But, after going to the Sportsman's show in Hamburg last month, and stopping at the S&S booth, I think I may make a switch to the "ELITE" brand now. Sooo, a new bow will be in store for me before the start of our bow season this fall.
  9. Just bought the honey pie a new mower yesterday. The one she had was too old and always was a pain to start, besides never run right even after taking it in to get looked at. Sooo, a brand new "Red Toro", after taking it through it's paces yesterday, now sits in her shed!!! Told her it was an early Xmas present!!!
  10. Will be headed out this afternoon to pattern my gun. Will be using those same XR's as you except in #4's. Going to try to see what they will do out of a new choke tube at 30-40-50 yards. Winchester 1300 with a 3" chamber and a Pattermaster code black .665 choke tube.
  11. For deer hunting, I carry a back pack that is loaded up with most items I need. Sure adds extra weight to my climber as I walk into the woods. For turkey hunting, my vest is also quite loaded up as well. Along with carrying a seat, and decoy bag, besides my gun!!! LOL
  12. Dandy rack!!! I believe it look's like a 20-22" spread?
  13. Have to say, that is one of my favorite shows to watch.
  14. I haven't actually hunted in a "blind" that fully encloses you. I have and still use a couple of blinds that are 27" tall by either 8 or 12 feet in length. These hide your hands as you work your box or pot calls without being detected. I can carry two in my decoy bag and set up is very easy and fast. Now if our the type that likes hunting in rainy weather, a full blind maybe the cats arse. Waiting to here more reply's on this topic.
  15. I don't see why we can't hunt all day here in NY? Most hunters during the spring hunt the mornings anyway, if they have off. Late in the normal season, how many times have you actually spooked a hen off the nest? Few if any right, so why the ban on all day spring season hunting? This has always been a political thing which doesn't make any sense at all. Very similar to the state of PA not being able to hunt on Sundays!!! Wake up people....
  16. Think the last show for the season is this coming Thursday night at 10pm?
  17. Just cut the lawn for the second time this year!!! Here we go again, but it sure beats shoveling snow!!!
  18. Presently own two of them. One is by Nikon and is their ProStaff Laser 440, very nice unit, had this one for almost 10 years now. I keep that one in my turkey vest. Last fall I picked up a Bushnell "Archers Choice" unit by Primos with their Arc technology. Using this one mainly for treestand hunting with the bow. Like them both.
  19. Seen this picture on another forum, some woman took this bird on her first turkey hunt!!!! Nothing like getting a monster as your first bird!! 1 7/8" spurs on that bad boy!!!
  20. We went for a 2.5 mile walk Saturday morning, then worked around her house with the lawn, planting some bushes, etc. then out for dinner. Sunday morning walked another 2.5 miles, then took out the bikes to Ellicott Creek Bike path, did an 11 mile trip there, stopped at Hoak's on the way back for a couple of beers and a Roast Beef on wick. Then crashed at my place till 6pm.
  21. One trick we tried when we went to Texas for Rios years ago, buy a pair of woman's panti-hose, cut in half at the crotch, hence a leg in each hand. The carefully pull the opening over the bird starting from the head until the entire bird is "in" the leg of the pant-hose. Two options, take it like that right to your taxidermist as is, or place into the freezer and take at a later time when he is open. The guy we took our birds to said that was an excellent way to prevent and damage to the feathers, beard, etc.
  22. Same here Danno, did mine as well. Swapped the snowblower for the lawnmower...
