  1. Bunch of good bucks, good luck putting one down.
  2. I too have been pretty fortunate when it comes to land for hunting and have never really had to ask for permission. I'm not sure I would even know the right approach, so I'm glad to hear the few suggestions there were. I have been part of a hunting club since 2000 and we have ~600 acres in Oswego county. We have 8 members, and it's not the best hunting, but it is our land to hunt. I also grew up in area where my neighbors were all relatives who in total had ~200 acres of property available to hunt. Now I currently own a 96 acre farm in Cayuga county that is bordered by several hundred acres of crop fields that my neighbor owns. He only has 3 guys that hunt his property and has granted me access to all of his land that borders ours. So I guess I would consider myself to be pretty lucky when it comes to this situation. Plus like Sam said, it seems like I'm constantly running into old friends that have land access out of state. I just need to take advantage of some of that.
  3. If the winds stay as predicted, I can sit in one of my favorite spots. Should be good as I haven't been in there since early September.
  4. Why the heck are you trying to spine a deer? You're right when you said poor decision. My advice would be to leave her until morning. And don't take any more shots like that. Good luck.
  5. Scent control, i.e., Play the winds correctly and more times than not, you will have some type of success. Cause even if you hunt naked the deer can still smell you.
  6. A few nice looking bucks there. The one heavy horned 8 point looks like he has some weight on him. Good luck!
  7. It may not be the correct nock for the arrow. They make different types for the different brands of arrows. Maybe you have the wrong ones?
  8. Anyone interested in my 2012 bow? Or one of my 6 trail cameras? I can't have my hunter reputation ruined if people find out I've been using these new high-tech implements. I'm going to look for a nice straight tree to make my new flint tipped spear with.
  9. Way to be a team player and share! Great buck.
  10. Blood looks dark like it's possibly liver blood. I would wait as long as you can. I'm sure he's dead, but why risk it.
  11. I have also had luck with the Golden Estrous. Shot 2 bucks using it, both are on my wall. One came in sniffing everywhere looking for the doe, the other came in on a string.
  12. Your best bet would be to contact NYS DEC.
  13. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. You can't go wrong with either rifle. Both great deer calibers and capable for use anywhere in North America. I personally shoot 30-06.
  14. Why go through all the trouble of putting up posted signs if you aren't going to fill them out? Doesn't he know that they are pretty much null and void without that information? Some people are funny.

    Deer

It's simple. If you don't want people to call you out, bust your nuggets, threaten to call the cops/DEC, criticize, heckle, etc. Don't put pictures on a public forum that shows a deer at a baited site. Just shows the persons lack of judgement when they do these type of things. I'm sure you guys hunt together over your naturally formed mineral lick, since you are defending him.
  16. That's what mature bucks look like! Looks hes been fighting judging by the marks on his shoulder. Hope you get him, good luck!
  17. Had 11 deer come out in my new plot this morning. 4 does, 4 button bucks, 3 fawn does. Shot the biggest doe at 20 yards quartering to me. Rage took out lung and heart. She ran ~80 yards and piled up. 130 lbs hanging. Didn't have my camera arm but got video of her before I shot her.
  18. 11 deer came out this morning, 10 went back in. I love venison!
