I would gladly trade the ribs of the deer I shoot for some backstrap! Where is the sign up sheet?

Thanks for the update Lawdawz! Good news is I have already recruited 2 friends to tag along on an archery hunt either next year or the year after. One of them happens to have a friend from college whose parents own a small farm (~90-100 acres) in Ohio. I am not sure about the exact location but the parents and his friend don't archery hunt. He is in the process of talking to him about us coming out for 3-4 days to hunt archery. If he can pull this off, I would be pumped! I guess time will tell.

Have to agree, that's a damn nice buck for June! Will be interesting to see what happens the rest of the summer.

Those are some nice looking deer! Hope to see what they bring to the table this year.

Have any teenagers in the area looking for some summer work?

Anybody else waiting for the rain to quit

I wasn't able to get much done this weekend as my two boys had birthdays Friday and Saturday. Today was a beautiful day, but we had to attend a grad party for a good friends son at noon. By the time we got home it was 5:30 and I was beat from eating, drinking, and playing volleyball. Just hoping for a good night this week to get the plot mowed. -
Biz, how did you make out when you went there? I'm looking at the page again and the more I look, the more it interests me.

Wanted: 3 point hitch tiller

You too eh? Good luck. -
I sent my email declining the offer. Like everyone said, it's too much money for a week. I'm not sure I'll end up going out of state this year now as it looks. My wife told me that our daycare provider is takin off 2 additional weeks this year (one in August and one in December). So looks like ill be using vacation time to watch the little man those weeks rather than using it to go out of state. Always next year.

Ok so here's what I got. It's a private land hunt that isn't with an outfitter. It's a friend of his fathers who owns just over 300 acres in Farmington, Illinois (Peoria county). He offers hunts to his close friends and their family. The $5000 would actually get me all of bow season, my non-res archery permit, and would include lodging while I was there. Apparently he has a cabin that sleeps 6. He guarantees a chance at 150" plus and has particular deer on camera that can be shot, with nothing under 140". It is not guided, but will show you stand locations. Provides a cooler to store harvest in, and full do it yourself butchering area. I would really like to go this year but only have until July 1 to decide. Don't think I can convince the wife in that short of time. Not to mention, I would really only be able to go for a week so I wouldn't get the full benefit. Maybe in a few years if I'm given the opportunity again.

I guess if I drove the corolla it would be under...

Just checked out their site. Seems like a pretty decent place to hunt and could be done for less than $1000. May be worth a shot if I can get some buddies to accompany me.

Looks like a pretty nice place to hunt. Seems like it could be done for around $2000 by the time you're said and done.

Our huckleberries are dropping like crazy. The black berries and cherries probably have another two weeks.

How many guys have ever been on a guided or non guided bow hunting trip outside of NY? If you have, what was your experience like, where did you go, and would you recommend it? Reason being is I just got asked to go on a bow trip to Illinois for 6 days. The only details i've received so far is a price of $5000 and It's not all inclusive. Only thing included is tags and hunting rights. My buddy is supposed to send me the details via email. I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna go based on the simple fact it's $5000 and doesn't include anything.

I would love to have some hives on our farm. We get a tree full of honey bees early in the year when the honey locust is in bloom. Then they depart.

Definitely looks like he'll be on someone's hit list. Nice deer!

That's awesome for her!

Happy valley state land in Parish is a great area. It's ~8700 acres and its pretty remote. It's about 25 min north of Syracuse. I've seen some really nice deer come out of there.
