  1. We planted 35 acres of corn, 10 acres of soybeans, and the rest of the fields are alfalfa/Timothy. My neighbor planted 50 acres of corn and 30 acres of beans behind our house. I have a small plot I'm working on that is mostly alfalfa/Timothy. It is between the corn and soybean fields so I'm hoping they will use it for a staging area. We usually have our corn up a little longer than our neighbor so hopefully it works out well.
  2. I have the same stock on my 25-06. I love the looks of the laminate stock.
  3. Are you looking for bow/rifle or northern/southern tier?
  4. Went to BPS to get some of the blackout X1pro arrows last week. Grabbed the boxes I needed from the rack and went up to the archery counter to have them cut. There were 2 guys there, one I have dealt with on several occasions and appreciate his service. The other is a guy who I have dealt with on a couple other occasions and I'm sure he barely knows his head from his A$$! The normal guy grabbed my arrows and said "still shooting 29 inches?" I said "yup." He started to unbox them and the lesser of the 2 guys says "oh I'll cut them if you want to take this guy up to shoot this bow." So off they went. I should have stayed and watched him cut the arrows but didn't. I walked around grabbing a few other things I needed and returned to find my arrows all set. Paid for my crap and left. Ended up shooting them Friday afternoon to see how they compared to the actual GT brand. After shooting a dozen times I couldn't figure out why the new arrows were shooting 1 1/2-2" lower than the others. After closer inspection I noticed the new arrows were cut longer...2 1/2" longer! I returned today and had them cut to the appropriate length and they are shooting exactly the same as the GT's. As long as that guy is working there, I will never have an arrow cut by him! Bonus was that I told the lady up at customer service what happened and she gave me 15% off my purchase today.
  5. Here are some pictures from the new plot. It's pretty wet in most spots so I haven't been able to brush hog too much. Have already been seeing deer in it. Just need to get the cams up over there. You can see some of the mature apple trees in the picture. The cherry trees were behind me so they aren't in the picture. The big walnuts are along the field edge where it's wet. The first picture shows a hedgerow where the primary bedding area is. Hoping it dries up a little so I can do a little more mowing.
  6. I used to see a couple a year when hunting in Oswego county. Now that I live and hunt primarily in Cayuga I don't see many. I have only seen one, and that was on trail cam.
  7. Hopefully I can get pics up tonight, assuming its not a torrential downpour when I get there.
  8. I agree with phase here as well. One of my most productive stands is in a pinch point/funnel. If you can get set up there with the wind in your favor, you're sure to see if not even kill a decent deer.
  9. Looks like a pretty good piece of property. In the pic of you with the tree, I would try to get your stand as close to the 2nd big "Y" branch that is about 15 feet up or better yet above it. It should offer good cover come fall. Might be a personal preference but when on slopes I try to get as high as possible.
  10. Started brush hogging an older pasture on our property that has a good source of food already. Its about 3 acres and there are some decent apple trees, cherry trees, walnut, and alfalfa/timothy/clover already there so for now I'm just working on mowing and pruning. I think it has good potential for killing a good buck since its located between my corn field and soybean field and i believe would act as more of a staging area. It's also adjacent to a primary bedding area. This spot would be ideal for morning hunts primarily as it should be more favorable for the wind. I'll try to get a few pics up.
  11. http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/flytalk/2012/02/shoot-me-down-whisker-biscuit-still-best-rest-bowhunting Well here is what I came up with while scouring the Internet. I would like to retract my statement that a WB is not very accurate past 30 yards. This video clearly proves it is. WNYBuckhunter I believe I owe you something? I have 3 bows to choose from, so take your pick. I did also find a site that had a speed comparison. They shot the WB and drop away through a chrono at 6 ft and saw 3 fps difference with no change in POI at 20 yards. At 30 yards the fps differential was ~14 and POI diff was 1". So even though it is a little slower, it still maintained accuracy. The only major complaint I've seen is that the WB will start to harm your fletchings after a few hundred shots, more so for the 4" vanes rather than the 2" vanes. So there we have it, all in all the WB is a great rest for hunting. Can we all stop the foolishness now? .
  12. I'm not saying they're not accurate, they are, But I would bet my bow that out past 30 yards the drop away is the better choice. I know you don't lose much velocity with the biscuit within the first 20 yards. But at 30+ yards I'm sure there is 15-20 fps (or more) difference, hence losing your accuracy. Great rest for guys who don't shoot past 30 yards and still hunt, IMO.
  13. You never cease to amaze me with your photos, awesome awesome awesome!
  14. Imagine what he'll look like next year!
  15. I have to disagree with the whisker biscuit being the best on the market. The LD he currently has is much nicer and more accurate. I do like the trophy ridge 5 pin sights and would recommend them. Haven't shot a single pin in 15 years.
  16. Would like to sell as package, but maybe if its still for sale in a month or so it will be considered. Thanks for inquiring.
  17. It will be a tough sell, just trying to get close to what I owe. Price is up a little for the tire kickers.
  18. 2012 Mahindra max 28 XL HST, 28 HP diesel, 4wd tractor. This sweet little thing is loaded with features and comes with 54" loader, 5' kodiak brush hog, and king kutter discs, all the accessories needed to create/maintain a food plot, or do chores around the house/farm. It has the most HP in its class and amazed me at how much power it has. There are only 27 gently used hours on her. Big or small this tractor has plenty of room. Asking $19,500 or BO, no reasonable offer will be refused. Paid nearly $25,000 for it less than a year ago. Trying to buy a house so it needs to go. It's located north of Syracuse about 20 miles in Constantia (on Oneida lake).

  20. Yeah, I shot him first so he collapsed on her and held her there.
  21. I've only got one squirrel mount done so far. I happend to take this guy and his gal on the same hunt. He scored an amazing 15 3/8" (11 1/8 on the tail and 4 2/8 on the ears). The best part is his gal is just barely under him...in measurements...and uhh, yeah. Hoping to do something a little more exotic with my next one.
  22. I'm not sure he's old enough to buy wine yet Belo....but good advice none the less.
  23. Great point here. Shoot them all and get one for 1/3 to 1/2 cost on archerytalk. Just picked my buddy up a 2010 diamond black ice flx loaded with case for $400 shipped. Definitely worth checking out after he shoots a few.
