  1. I shot with a buddy that had a hydraulic trigger release and a lead sled. Amazing how much movement you impart on a gun even in a sled.
  2. IMO. if you are evaluating the rifle and load combination for accuracy, you want as much of the human element as possible removed.
  3. I would think it is about comparable to a -06 bolt gun with a heavy bullet.
  4. you know what I really like about this gun....or should I say what I like that it doesn't have? lol
  5. I like Winchester brass. I sure would like to see what that rig can do if you want to work up some handloads for it.
  6. Shhhhhh. stop that. I am hoping to bum his spent 308 brass off him..lol
  7. First thing we need to do is get it in my lead sled withe the double rail so the mag and grip are down in between...lol Sure is a sweet rig. You mentioned burning off the manufacture oils. I would suggest stripping any gun down at purchase and give it a thorough cleaning. I think you are gonna find that gun is capable of better than you even shot on Saturday.
  8. I absolutely would put outdoor carpet on it. Pretty cheap and makes it very quiet.
  9. He was. The only one. Of course the group up there this week took 6 in the first 4 nights. Lol
  10. Personally I would shy away from bluegill. They breed like mad and they will eat the hell out of the bass eggs and fry. Unless you keep catching and taking them out they will stunt easily and really push the carrying capacity of the pond. Those carp may be those grass carp to control the weeds. Any idea what your water volume or acreage of the pond is??
  11. Swing up to the ponds on the south shore of Ontario right after ice out. I have aught 15-16" ones up there. Have you caught any really small ones in there? might be worth dropping in a minnow trap and seeing what you have breeding in there.
  12. Depends on the area. I have seen "sheds" that we not on a permanent structure go both ways. It's all speculation until you call the governing authorities.
  13. Wonderful job. Pretty hard to beat the view of any of the peaks in Keene Valley. Saddleback, Giant and Big Slide
  14. i caught a small mouth in Canadarago Lake and it was 20", healthy and football shaped. It was metal lip banded. I called DEC and it was so old they had to go to paper records to get the information. They had no idea any fish from that tagging were still around. I caught her in the early 90's. She had been tagged and release at the state boat launch 14 years prior with an estimated age of 2 at the time. I caught her about 200 yards north of the that same boat launch.
  15. I've probably caught more trout on a hares ear nymph than anything else I have ever used.
  16. If you and he thinks there have been changes to this point, hold on to your hat, He ain't seen nothing yet. If he doesn't put his foot down now he has condemned himself to a life where he has to ask permission to borrow his balls back from her purse at every turn he makes.
  17. Happy Birthday. Sure seems like you are doing great at celebrating it. Onieda?
  18. Did you PM your info? I may be making a run to grab the beans tonight. Will be coming up 390 and I might be able to save you a trip up north if you wanted them.
  19. I saw two up in Quebec last week on the bear hunt. Spring came late up there and not a flower in sight. I was wondering what they were doing so far ahead of the flower blooms. One of the guys told me they eat tree sap as well and follow woodpeckers to sip the sap at their holes. After doing a bit of reading I did confirm that and found out that they actually eat insects too.
  20. I think either way would work fine. The driving force for me would be what was I primarily going to cook on it. If I were doing things that I wanted to hang then I would go vertical. If I wanted to grill more or do things that could lay down like turkeys or hams then I would probably go horizontal. What are your plans for a heat source? If you decide to go horizontal I would suggest using a convection plate in the cooking chamber. This plate with a progressions of holes from smaller near the heat source to larger away from the heat source really help even out the temps in a horizontal rig.
  21. right leg of the chair there is a big rock. it is just to the left of the big rock. Facing to the right
