Liver and onions ....talk to me
Culvercreek hunt club replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
no no no no no!!!. no oil. Cook the bacon first and everything gets cooked in the bacon grease....lol. oil? sacrilege!! Seriously though I cook it just like you Dom, except I do it in the bacon grease. Has to be a touch pink in the center. over cooked liver is possibly one of the grossest thing on the planet. -
I didn't want to bring up the time it happened to me becasue I know it has happened to everyone here

Ash Borers?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
These are the D shaped exit holes of the hatched adults. The other pic is typical damage caused just under the bark on the trees. Once those channels make a complete ring around the tree and cut off the flow of fluid in the tree, it is done. similar to girdling a tree you want to die with a chainsaw. -

I have 50 with serial numbers in order and postmarked on the original date of issuance.

I was up at a buddy's camp deer hunting. We took 5 that day and we were cutting them up. I took off my wedding ring and put it in my right front pants pocket ....with my keys. once we finished and cleaned up I was running late for gettign home. I raced to my truck that was parked in a golden rod field next to the cabin. reached in and pulled out my keys and headed home. Once I got there I reached in to put on my ring.. Nope it was gone. Back up the next day and even a couple times with a metal detector. no dice. I have bad luck with rings. I made the mistake of breaking up with my high school girl friend in a remote location. We were parked and she very calmly got out of the car and threw my gold class ring into the nearby standing corn field. I don't wear or buy rings anymore...lol

Semi-autos Throwing Brass
Culvercreek hunt club replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Yeah. I see it too. Those hard kicking 5.56 semi autos are a bear to shoot and control without one...lol. -
It was. I believe the early archery age was 14 but gun for big game was 16.

If you read the comments on the News site pages it is becasue of people that know nothing about hunting or our current NY laws. The people responding to this envision 12 year olds being handed a gun, patted on the head and sent out into the world. They have no idea that they can currently hunt and that they can hunt with the very same guns and rounds that are going to be used. They can't wrap their heads around it becasue they do no understand it and have no experience with it. (copy and paste this comment in any gun law thread)

And the best part about this bill is it allows the parent to gauge the ability and interest level and do what is best when they feel it is best. (over 12 of course). Nothing says they have to hunt deer at 12
-
That is in general and a conglomerate statement. 12 year old for gun on small game. 12 year old for bow on big game. 14 years old for gun big game.

Semi-autos Throwing Brass
Culvercreek hunt club replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have had a few very heated conversations over this same thing at the range. Probably my biggest issue with AR's and AK's. Trying to do some precision shooting and next to you is some clown dumping mags as fast as they can. I have semis as well but when I go to the range with them I have my shootign box or a piece of cardboard blocking any flying brass. Then there is the muzzle brakes but that is another thread. -

bow hunting has been 12 for years. This doesn't change that. this is for gun and crossbow.

I'm missing your point on this?

Shumer shutdown
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Water Rat's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Not shut down related but does lean towards Steve D's Drain the swamp comment. I am not sure how this will all play out but if just half is true it is scary. ...KGB kind of scary -

That was before I got there. Someone should have told Pygmy you were taking a picture so he could have stood up with the rest of you. -

I am not a huge fan of the accu-trigger, probably becasue of the feel and not being use to it. I won that Savage Axis in 308 in a gun raffle last fall. I HATE THE TRIGGER ON THAT. wish the Axis 2 and it had the accu-trigger. The trigger on the axis is like trying to drag a semi down the road with one finger.
