  1. The calibers he listed are not up to task in the range listed for anything other than a perfect broadside hitting no bone? Come on
  2. I picked this one up and it stays dead on with my beam scale. Comes with a calibration weight, will go high enough to weigh my arrows and doesn't turn off on my while I am using it. It does have an auto off but it hasn't done it to me yet. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/175512/frankford-arsenal-ds-750-electronic-powder-scale-750-grain-capacity
  3. WCJ. You have a pic of the case puller. Would be great to post here or in its own thread.
  4. Wish I could like this a hundred times. Stated perfectly
  5. Oh, and one other benefit. If there is a burdock within 10 miles of you, it will find it's way onto your wool...lol
  6. Understood. But for a beginner the load data in a manual is an important piece but the explanation of the process and theory is the key
  7. I would never recommend that anyone start without a manual. While much of the info is online, it is a valuable tool, especially for a beginner. I also see a bullet puller as a "need". It will happen, there will be some that don't go BANG. or you realize there is an error somehow. Pretty cheap for around $12-15 when set up with the turret you can do small volume cases (my 38/357 and 223) at the rate of 150 an hour. The benefit is NOT having to handle the case at every step.
  8. and you still have to option to use as a single stage if you wish.
  9. If I end up slipping and falling in the drink, I wouldn't want any other fabric than wool.
  10. You can take antlerless with the either sex and antlerless Bow / ML tags in areas that are not open or offer very few regular season "doer permits". All antlerless take should be on the lottery and opportunities given to all hunters, regardless of hunting implement chosen. my two cents.
  11. A friend actually did this for the rain and to keep sun off during a long summer range session. It worked very well. I imagine with the addition of a bit of insulation and a propane heater, it would be very winter usable. (I have a NG one and a bit bigger in my garage. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Dyna-Glo-IR12PMDG-1-12-000-BTU-Propane-Infrared-Wall-Heater/46796370 ) His enclosure was built around the shooting table. Posts in the ground and right and left handed. Very stable and didn't have to worry about floor moving and wind vibrations. He started out with the table. Added posts and a roof and then built the floor and sides. Kind of backwards but the project kept evolving over about 4 years.
  12. Isn't that easy. I would research what you are actually using. As WCJ said. printed info on the manufactured is seldom correct. but even at that the much heavier bullet won't react the "Same". One I liiked at was 0 at 200, +3.1" at 100 and -13.4 at 300
  13. Personally I think the ENTIRE antlerless take across the state should be on the lottery system open to all hunters. That was one of my comments to the DEC in my response.
  14. it really isn't just that simple as the grain weight. Need MV and BC but with my handloads and the Federal Premiums I use to use, that is pretty accurate.
  15. I typically set my 06 at 2" high at 100 and never had to hold over
  16. I have had to lay off taking does in that October 1st through November 1st window for lack of tags. To me that is the best month to fill with a bow.
  17. I don't think Wildcat was splitting hairs. His approach is the most realistic and simplistic for out North East whitetail woods. It doesn't get much easier than point and shoot.
  18. Are you saying that you believe that sighting in 2 1/2" high at 100 would make you 4 1/2" high at 50?

  20. I have had to deal with warranty work on a Leupold and a Vortex. both were handled but the Vortex experience was faster and that equaled better in my book.
  21. Teaser alert---Stay tuned for an upcoming GRST QDMA education event in Rochester area. I promises to shed light on the entire process, what DEC can and cant do under NY's system and will be presented by members of the DEC.
  22. http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/vortex.pl?page=vortexcrossfireii3-9x50 Do be afraid of their open box or Demos on this site. I have bought 5 and they are new and not a mark. Actually they came wrapped and l honestly think they were new scopes. The V-brite is great
  23. Vortex. They have scopes in your price point and you won't be disappointed. Lifetime transferable warranty too.
  24. If you are not in favor of NY's current poaching and fine structure, I suggest you keep an eye out for the eforts being made by the NY QDMA branches and state advisory council. Trying to really make headway this year.
