Which hunting weapon and season do you like the best ?
First-light replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
Probably bow season great time to be in the woods. I suck under pressure with the bow. My 1187 auto loader. Gun is deadly with a scope on it! -
I have used it more in the past then now. Have had good results. Actually had a bear come into a moc scrape loaded with Tinks once. Now I'll use Code Blue in the rut other than that just spray down and put out some corn or apples they will come to that! lol

First year archery for me and excited !
First-light replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Bow Hunting
Come to my place and you can miss all you want, you'll fit right in! lol good luck. -
From another site. Said it was 168lbs. Could be but the bear compared to the size of the bow looks to be small. I think 80-100 lbs?

The deer just don't stay on the landowners property that has damage. Give out the permits to the people who pay for them. Then let the landowner get his share if any are left over. I have to say that in all my 40 years of deer hunting I never heard anyone sue against a landowner.

Have a great time. I just wish the state would stop issuing these things. I know there are arguments on both sides but change the rules. How about giving out more doe permits.....maybe to out of state hunters and so on. When those aren't filled issue the remaining one to the farmers. My friend who farmed over in Schuyler county got about 25 per year. He held them close and only gave out a few. If you think about it how many deer do you need to shoot to stop crop damage and its more than deer that does the damage. Have a great time and I hope you shoot one. I just think its a slap in the face to us hunters that the state allows it. This is in no way directed at Moog just my thoughts on the situation.

Have you or someone you know ever shot a deer with gang green
First-light replied to rob-c's topic in Deer Hunting
Now this is not gang green related but I shot a big old buck back in 91. 22" spread weighed 161 had no ass end all run off chasing doe. probably a 4.5 year old deer. Back then there was cardboard wadding in the slug. He is hanging on the pole and I notice one leg has a huge bump in it. Took out the knife and cut it open. It was cardboard wadding from someone who shot him pretty darn close. Crazy stuff right there. -

Shot a buck opening day that had been shot in the hoof during bow. The hoof was swelled up like a softball he couldn't walk on it. Deer has puss coming out of its eyes and nose. Took it to the butcher he said the meat is fine. (he wasn't eating it!) It actually was. I was young and stupid back then, now probably would of left it for the yotes! -
75 acres leased in Schylur county. Brother in law will mostley hunt it I hope to get over a few times.

First-light replied to rob-c's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
I like them but just think they will fall off and end up in the woods forever. -
Are those seeds in it? If so I would say raccoon, small bear?

He didn't hunt or fish. What he did was provide a wonderful life for my Mom and 6 children. He taught me how to build things with my hands, how to run a business and provide for my family. He was 86 they were married 65 years it was a love story. Here is a picture of the both of them at my cabin....miss you Pop.
