Sounds like a good deal. If I wasn't going broke fixing my foreclosure camp I might even be interested. Insert pic of me holding out my empty pockets. lol Would be even cheaper if it was shared with bowhunters and gun hunters. -
Liberal Businessmen Against Obama
hunter replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I saw Steve Wynn on TV and couldn't agree more but it is so much worse than this. As Bernie Marcus alluded to in his remark that 2,000 pages of law turn into 150,000 pages of regulations, this is the real danger. Laws are not honest and straightfoward as they should be. Instead the law creates a bureaucracy that makes law up as it goes along by unelected people with no vote by congress. So the only control is the now dictator president who can replace his minions if they don't function as he desires. Also, look at the waivers to his healthcare law that was such a great accomplishment. If it's so great why does anyone need a waiver. When we used to have different laws for blacks or women it was an abomination of a free country yet here we go again. If you have friends in high places you get a waiver but if not you have to follow the dictator's rules. -
Looks great.

Good luck.

I can accept it if we are not going to be a super power but I would still like to live by our constitution as a second or third rate power. If you can't see the collaboration of most of the media with this administration starting with the primary process and right through to present, you're either not looking or not being informed by the lame stream media. Laws that couldn't be passed turning into executive orders. The extent to which radicals were in this administration;Van Jones and Anita Dunn plus the ones who are still in it. I honestly don't want to start a peeing contest with you but there are two many incidents to be a coincidence; stop drilling here but go to Brazil and give two billion of our money to the new socialist president there and allow them to drill in our gulf.??? Telling us that we are recovering when clearly we are not. Whether we are a second rate power or not, I would still like us to be able to work and eat. Obama is too arrogant to admit his policies are not working and change them. I would give him more credit if he was honest instead of stone walling us. Jobs numbers and unemployment numbers reveal trouble and he blames the debt cieling crisis? Come on whether he inhiereted this from Bush or not we have been declining since he took office and he won't rec ognize that and deal with it. Obama sent his minions out to tell us we were in the summer of recovery last summer. Really? And he tried it last month until the numbers were just too horrible to even attempt this big enough lie theory, so now he blames the repubs? Almost three years of tanking during which Obama said we were recovering then numbers so bad it must be our fault but the soloution is more spending and borrowing. Seriously?

The sad truth is T. Boone Pickens had a plan to replace gasoline with natural gas which is not only plentiful and an easy conversion but we in NYS are lousy with it. So not only would it create jobs here and nationwide but would lower the cost of driving. He supported Obama because he thought he was behind his plans to do this and build windmills but apparently Obama wants us to get our comeuppance rather than help our country succeed. These two issues plus increasing coal fired electric generating would help us out in our time of need. Embracing nnew technology is fine but letting 300 million twist in the wind at the mercy of the Saudis while we wait for something that hasn't been discovered is more than crazy. It's vindictive and intentionally hurting us.

Anyone have any info on this outfitter in Monck Corner SC. He offers hog and deer hunting. He offers half day hunts for $75 per hunt.
-
If those are the ranges maybe I'll take my Savage 300 win mag. When I spoke to the outfitter I thought it was 100 yds or less over a food plot but if I might have 200 yd potential I'll def take the bigger gun. Thanks for the info, I'll still be talking with the guide so I'll know what to expect. See if you can find your pics I'm sure we'd all love to see them. BTW how hard was bringing back the meat? Did you have them butcher and ship or just drive it home in a cooler or coolers?
-
Found Low Country Outfitters, they have half day hunts for $75 each and they're close enough to Myrtle Beach so I don't have to pay for an extra room. Besides with the heat Idoubt Iwill be up for more than this anyway. Anyone familiar with this guy, please give me your thoughts.

Eagle, I'm gonna be in Myrtle Beach for two weeks so I'm looking at my options in reasonable drive time. So far I found Low Country Outfitters. They have half day hunts for $75 per hunt. I figure this will be my best option so I can spend part of the day with my family and stay in the room I'm already paying for. I plan on hunting the first wek of Sept which will be bucks only and in velvet according to the outfitter. I'm gonna do afternoon hunts.

The greatest generation indeed. My Dad was in the army and was part of D Day, my uncle was a lifer in the navy and commanded subs in the Pacific and my other uncle was in the Coast Guard as an aviator. He was shot down three times and survived to fight again each time. All gone. RIP all you heroes from the greatest generation. Now for Marlins, I love them. .35 was my first rifle. Now have a 30-30 and a .41 mag lever. Think I'm taking the .41 to SC for deer hunt in Sept. I have an aperture sight on this gun but think I'll put a low power scope for low light and old eyes.

Looks like a beauty. Use it in good health.

So when the wind is howling and the cold....
hunter replied to growalot's topic in General Chit Chat
I knew a couple of oldtimers who told me they know they're gonna fall asleep and the deer wake them up when they get there. I shot one buck when I woke up from a nap in a hay bale blind with walls blocking the wind on all side with a bench with backrest and a half wall that served as a shooting bench and a place to lay my rifle on. I t was bitter cold and the first day I could not sit still but the second day I brought a heavy space blanket and dozed off to find my dream come true a buck. lol -
Family BBQ downstate so my kids can be with me then up to the camp for a week with the bride. Mostly work to get camp in shape but fishing and target shooting in the mix. Have a new 44spl I haven't shot yet.

Congrats and many more. My wife and I are in year 24 and while driving upstate during really nice weekend I said I'm glad we didn't kill each other in the early years and she laughed and agreed with me.

Nice work, Growalot. I built a lean-to frame with my brother on his land but we only enclosed with tarps. I plan on building a wood one on my land this summer. I like them big enough to move around in, stretch legs, take off or put on jacket, room for a heater maybe a stove to boil water for coffee etc. Basicaly a condo with shooting ports. Now, elevating it like your camo one might be good also. -
i hear the dec is proposing an oct 1st start to the 2012 season
hunter replied to Pat Rockets's topic in Bow Hunting
I thought the early mls was always right before gun for a reason, that being once you start shooting up the woods there goes the neighborhood for archers. I don't object to a youth season but if bow is going to be open for Columbus Day weekend that seems like a big one to devote just for youths. A regular weekend like the first one would seem more appropriate. I mean it's alot easier for a kid to bang a Mon. off than an adult who works. -
Yeah, the rain got me in zone 4 too. Right after I closed on my camp my culvert got plugged and washed about 100' of driveway away. Luckily after it was repaired in mid May we had more heavy rains and it handled it. Also lucky for me the stream didn't flood.

Anyone familiar with Remington Buckhammer slugs?
hunter replied to MKYxD's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I recently bought a Remington 870 in 20 ga. and while shopping for ammo Dick's had buckhammers on sale so I stocked up on them. I bought the 2 3/4" ones and was really surprised at accuracy and range. Dead on at 50 yds and a little high at 100. I couldn't understand that myself but in my gun they were about an inch or two high at 100 yds. Now for the moment of truth, lasat season I was in a box blind with a rest when a buck came in at about fifty yards on a trot. I put the scope on a clearing he was heading for and got him midship a little low on his right side. It took him down as he dived foward from the momentum of the trot he was in and piled up within 20 yds of where I shot him. When he was butchered one piece of the slug made it all the way to under the skin on the opposite side where his front leg joined the body. I wasn't there so I can't be exact on how much went where else but id did the job great and that's without goin up to 3". Sorry but I don't get to tell the story often enough. lol -
Thanks so much Warren, I definitely will tell him you referred me.

Anyone have knowledge regarding Cypress Creek or any other outfitter in the Myrtle Beach area. Going back at the end of August and wanted to fit in a hunt. So far all I have is this one outfitter and wasn't sure if I wanted to go for deer or hog. I'm leaning towards velvet buck but I'm open to hog.
-
Me too, shot down in Maine. Can't stop applying and lose my preference points but I only buy a couple of chances, this year I think it was $35 for 6. I'll still be going for deer in Nov.

hunter replied to Pat Rockets's topic in Bow Hunting
I know they use to make an earth scent wafer for them. If they still do I would go with them but I don't think the regular ones spook deer or bear. I read an article about a bear hunter who used one unscented after the guide told him not too and bagged a huge bear.
