  1. Blackstrap was awesome. Jane taste sweet!!
  2. Hate to hear these stories of older people being abused some people just have no respect for anyone nor themselves for that matter. Funny last weekend I'm going to Target with my 21 yr old daughter and we are parking the truck when an elderly couple were pushing their cart so we had to wait for them to move. Well my daughter says and I know she was joking and she is a good kid" oh 100 points for old people," well I wasn't in a joking mood I guess so I snapped at her and told her to have some respect for them "this is the generation who fought Hitler" ect ect....So we parked and I made her help them put their bags in the trunk lol..young whippersnapper!
  3. Thanks everyone for some great advise. Alot to digest but I have a plan for my property just have to try it. Like Bubba said its not rocket science. Was thinking about getting everyone together this last weekend of gun to try it. Where should the person in charge(me) be? On stand or as a pusher? I was thinking radios for all and blaze orange for we do have a couple of kids with us.
  4. Ok guys so what is the safe and right way to do a drive? I have a small group (4 to 5) hunters and two of them are new to hunting and most of their experience is bow hunting from a treestand. Conventional thinking is setting posters at one side of woodlot and driving from the opposite side. Doesn't sound like the safest method. Been hunting for 30 years and have never been part of a drive and would like to try it!!!
  5. Culver post the plans... A6 dont give up its way too early in the season, my october was shot, too busy at work it was the first october I've missed ever then got up in early NOv with the bow only saw a spike that was way small...missed opening weekend with the gun also work obligations but sneaking up this saturday for an all day hunt then back Thanksgiving weekend and you still have two weeks in Dec!!!
  6. 7M Found four fresh scrapes saturday... Spike trailing doe and no big boys spotted... No shots.... Sunday too windy saw squat...
  7. First and foremost Coach LOCK UP YOU GUN!!, a safe or a five dollar trigger lock.
  8. Otsego not bad but still a 4 hour ride. I'm in northern Chenango County and while the hunting is great the 5 hour ride is wearing on me. If I were you I would keep it to a 3 to 31/2 hour ride (esp for weekend trips) which might bring you to the Hancock-Deposit area on rte 17. But like you said AR's are in place there...decisions
  9. Seeing plenty of deer this year, we've had three years like this but in the same three years the turkeys have dissapeared. The locals here (CNY) say that a few years back the DEC released fishers to help control the coyote population and that seems to be working but the fishers are also wiping out the turkeys....DEC denies this though
  10. I was there in the 90's, buddy shot a boar and we both took turkeys. This was not hunting just killing! Would not do that again. Beautiful area though and you can bowhunt some of their non-fenced in property but then you probably have your own place you hunt already. You can stay in their "logde" which is just a few rooms off the kitchen or you can rent a camper across the street. Like I said this was 20 yrs ago so maybe things have changed.
  11. Wasn't a controversy until the OP made it one, but I guess the same big shot trophy guys that push AR's are know trying to ruin spring turkey season also?? Whatever...
  12. Like most of us from the city, our fathers didn't hunt. Fortunatly we moved out to LI and I had a neighbor who introduced me and a few of us other kids to bow hunting. My first bow was a Bear recurve but never hunted with it. First hunting bow was an Allen compound, what a POS but I was glad to have it. Always gun hunted with a mossberg 500 with iron sights but as I got older and my eyes got worse I eventually went to a scoped rifle. As for a muzzleloader I never have any vacation time by December and have a 5 hour ride to my property so I'm waiting for retirement to get one...

    Drones

If you need a drone to hunt I would say you're at a disadvantage and I'd rather be the average Joe enjoying the tranquility of the woods. Just my .02
