  2. Sitting in my stand listening to the local gun club shoot their winter trap League wish all those shots for at Deer headed my way but that's not happening Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  3. Yes I used to keep track and see 50 or 60 deer a year remember you could have 15 Deer at a time run by you and sit there and count them I think my best one day count was 47 deer in a day those days are gone if you see 15 deer season that's a good season I tell the younger guys that and they look at you like you're crazy and don't believe you what do you think the difference is a ARs and better deer management in PA then in New York for the record I am against forced ARS I believe the individual has to do it himself Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  4. Got my second mature doe this morning at 8 a.m. had two young ones following her got my first 1 last Sunday at 11:30 now I have meat in the freezer for myself and my brother who has a bad back this season and not hunting for the first time in 60 years Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  5. I must say with all the nice, big , beautiful antlered bucks I am seeing on this site & others like NY State Hunters, NY Antler Outdoors, Hunting WNY, & on face book why do people think we need AR's & better deer management for bigger deer. I think we are doing a pretty good job ourselves by the looks of things! There are some Awesome bucks being shot, & congratulations to all who have gotten them! Stay Safe!
  6. They pack moose, grizzly, elk, & other animals out in Alaska & other places even if several trips are needed! I don't see why it can't be done in this case?. As said above , skin, quarter, & pack it out. I say if you don't want it ,don't kill it!
  7. I get dressed at home, drive to the nearest place for coffee & a sandwich which I eat while driving 20 miles on the way to my stand. I don't use any cover scents other than a little buck lure hung on a branch once in awhile. I have been able to shoot deer (if so desired) every year for the last 50+ years. Just saying I don't do all the scent things & see deer. I had a friend that smoked & drank coffee in his stand, always smelled like smoke & shot deer all the time. My son in law & his buddy do all the scent things, wash their clothes in scent free soap, carry it all to the cabin it a scented plastic tote, don't get dressed until the last min. & don't always see deer. Then they seem more interested in getting deer on cams. instead of shooting one, they make me laugh.
  8. He's a shooter in my book. Good luck!
  9. ?? yes/no? I thought of using one also but wasn't sure about the distance thing.
  10. I don't know where you are but there is "Sisson Outdoors" in Alden , NY on rt. 20 (Broadway) He also have a FB page. He did mine last yr. He also has many patterns.
  11. Great pics, & buck, congrats !
  12. You can never have too much lead in your pencil, you just need some one to write to!
  13. Well didn't get a deer Saturday but had a great day. I was going to sit until 2pm. I saw what I believe to be 7 different deer 5 buck & 2 doe. I saw what I thought was my last one around 10:30 am. As I was packing up at 1:45 all of a sudden there were deer running everywhere. A 4pt. & a 6pt. were chasing doe all around under my stand the 6pt chased away the 4pt then a doe left but he still had the one which 5 min. later he mounted about 30 yds. from me. when they finished up(about a min. 2 stroker) they almost both fell over. They walked apart about 15yrds. & stood there just panting, like 2 teens doing it the first time, well about 5 min later he chased her again ,she stood still & he mounted her again & the same happened. I had 2 good chances the shoot him but I figured any guy that gets laid twice in 10 mins. deserves to live! lol First time I actually saw this in 50+ yrs of hunting, have seen the chase but never the mounting up close.
  14. Maybe for measuring/marking on steel, carpenter pencil, or a big piece of pencil lead. What did dad do for a living (hint) if you don't mind answering.
  15. Sounds good to me, I will use it now my hands get cold (dam blood thinners!) I worked outside yr. round for 40 yrs. & never wore gloves, only rubber when working the hot lines. now I don't leave home with out them.
  16. Smell & fumes don't bother the deer? I have one but never used it for these reasons.
  17. Congrats, nice buck, stay well!
  18. Retired lineman for NYSEG after 40 yrs. You can go to schools (ECC in Buffalo area) & others down south to learn the trade. Good pay, lots of over time/travel ( working storms), good benefits while working. Must like to work long hours, climbing poles & steel towers from 35 -230 ft. high ,being outside in all the Sh-- weather & having a -20* wind blowing up your a$$ while hanging on a pole for 15 hours at a time! Really don't know why anyone would do this now that I think about it! lol Good luck.

  25. Try Niagara Outdoors in Buffalo, I believe the owner's name is Nick he makes strings & he can most likely set you up from start to finish. I think niagaraoutdoors.com is their web site.
