  1. Perfect.., this sounds like something that can be arranged on short order. My pac should accomodate this technique nicely. Thanks contender!
  2. I saw a guy hunting with a x-bow this archery season.
  3. Hey fellas, this is only my second season hunting from a treestand so I still got a few minor details I need to figure out. How do you guys get your guns up in the stand. I'm using a climber and have a rope on each side with a carribiner clip to haul up my gear. My question is, where do you hook the gun up that is safe for the gun and yourself. Last year I would hook up to my sling, but things were a little unbalanced and my gun teeter totterd doing a backflip half ways up. I'm afraid I'm gonna accidently bump my scope off this way or worse. What am I missing? * gun is a ML and I know better than to haul it up primed.Thanx

    Legal is legal

The trophy status of my bucks gets measured in increments of most memmorable and not inches. Seems like my biggest gave me some of the dullest hunts I've ever experienced, while I saw some of my smaller bucks more deserving of killing simply due to the set of circumstances that led up to a sucessfull hunt. Certainly not my place to intervene in anyones choice of animals to kill. Ultimately, you all know what to reasonably expect out of a hunt from your areas so I think a lot is based on that principal alone. Personally I'd rather listen to the sucess story from somebody who is genuinely elated with their kill regaurdless of size. Big antlers will put a smile on ANY hunters face, but the guys that are happy with the choices they make and truely enjoy the hunt for what it is, are the kinda guys I can take a liking to! No matter what floats your boat, have a great and safe gun season everybody!

    Bow sling?

Rob- If you do, let me know how you like it. They're really convenient and after a little while you wont even realize it's on your bow.....until you take it off.

    Bow sling?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a bow sling that doesn't need to be removed durring the shot. I bought one of these at the Outdoors show in Hamburg some 10-15yrs ago and loved the thing. It was made of rubber and snapped around the limb pockets while an adjustable strap went around your shoulder and behind your neck for hands free carrying. When you raised the bow to draw, the equal pressure from the rubber straps to the top and bottom limb would stabilize the bow and like I said did not need to be removed before shooting. I forget the manufacturer of this thing but do remeber back when I got mine if you sent them a field photo with your kill and their product on your bow they would send you another sling free. Does anyone know who made this thing or where I can find one?
  9. Ahhhhh, the single life aint so bad!
  10. Besides the terrible weather we had the first 2 weeks of season, things shaped up rather nicely. No complaints here as far as #'s, quality of bucks in the woods, and oppertunities. Probably have to rate it as one of my best seasons yet in that aspect.
  11. I would hook him up with one of my ex-wives! Wont take him long and he'll realise what he got waiting at home for him....that is unless they turn him gay first, lol. IMO- stay out of it. I've been on both sides. Had a best friend that got involved with one of mine and went on to marry my ex. Poor fella, just goes to show how things can backfire! Bet ya now he wishes he never got involved, lol!
  12. I wouldn't ruin that rack for a set of rattlin horns. No offence intended but they're too small...you may as well get out there and rattle two chicken wing bones together for that matter. All you will get out of either is a bunch of clicks and tics.., not rattling. I do a LOT of rattling right from the start of bow season all the way through the late ML season and I rattle hard. Even watching and listening to young small racked bucks spar early in the season you will hear a lot of energy behind them antlers that you just can't put into a little crotch horn set like that with your bare hands. The more you rattle you will see a mixed reaction from bucks. When someone tells me that rattling big horns aggresively scares subordinate bucks, I say they haven't rattled enough in to have a solid base to reach that conclusion. One things for sure is bucks wont come running every time you hit the horns together...on the other hand, they wont all take off running for their lives fearing a good whooping from a dominate buck either. Most bucks I rattle at I see first and get to watch their reaction. I'd say at least 80% of the time all it will do is get their attention and get them to look back before they carry on with what they were doing. That's by far been the most common reaction I've seen. The other 20% can almost be split in half as to if the buck will become curious or retreat. The wind is crucial when rattling. Don't have it to your advantage you may as well leave the horns hanging silent or you WILL add that buck to the list of "runaways". They WILL and DO use the wind when responding to rattling 99% of the time. On a handfull of occaisions I recall that a buck just "threw caution to the wind" and marched right in on a dead run without circling downwind. Pretty intence, but quite rare. Some days you can pull every buck within earshot of a good rattling sequence while other days you will swear there isn't a big buck in the woods willing to do battle. Never assume that since bucks are not responding that you are scaring them all away as that couldn't be farther from the truth. Don't ever think that just because you're rattling loud and aggressive that only mature bucks will respond. Even little spikes and crotch horns will come to investigate if they think there's a chance of stealing a hot date as the big boys beat each other up. All that being said, I think I changed my mind! Cut them suckers off that skull cap and get out there and bang them together. Rattling responses are so unpredictable you just might find you hit one of the 10% that like what they hear and come to check out your fake fight. Once it works for you, you'll begin to experiment with it on your own and become hooked the same way I am! On a sidenote, I put the horns together today on a nice 10 and sent him running for the hills, lol. You just never know!
  13. Lol, I'll bet you would! Lets just say there should have only been 19 left.
  14. I can relate! Sure this will sound like a buch of balogna to some but I had a hot doe get chased by today. Over the course of the day I had 20+different bucks(that's being conservative in case I counted some more than once) take up her trail.
  15. Dude, what do you get the blaze orange ones, lol? Sorry man, that sucks.I always try to hide my straps with sticks and leaves. The black strap lines on a bare trunk are a dead give away.
  16. Great buck and hunt growalot! You're a good multi-tasker! Lots went into putting a tag on that sucker! Congrats
  17. Hard to believe he didn't get a pass thru.
  18. Wow, falling from 30 feet...bet he had plenty of time to get in a few Our Father's and Hail Mary's before he hit the ground that probably saved his azz. Lucky sob that's for sure.
  19. Great shot slowhand...great story too! Congrats!
  20. Excellent job Wildcat, excellent job!!! Congrats!
  21. Dang Burt, you keep posting pics like that makes me wanna skip the hunt and start shed hunting already, lol. I usually pic up a few busted antlers or tines each spring. Haven't seen any busted up racks yet this season.
  22. Soon as you kill one it will go away on its own. I'm suffering through my 3'rd year of it. You're not alone!
  23. How convenient, lol! Sounds pretty sweet!
  24. I'd find a new girlfriend!
