  1. Phade Thanks for pointing out many of the bucks we should have killed and didn't. Somehow I just got depressed.
  2. Agree that wind is key. I don't do much other than use scent free soap and laundry detergent. Typically suit up at home. Good access and stand selection based on wind will do more than all the sprays, etc.
  3. Seems like a while since someone shot a deer. Get to it folks.
  4. LMAO - you are one to talk, you put gloves on to watch me gut the deer
  5. Sad day indeed. Hence the reason I leased the landrover. Truck was ruined. Yes wildcats, the tarp is for that very purpose. I should have used it. Was only moving the deer a short distance to gut, but learned my lesson. On the bright side, I almost felt manly for a bit, at least until I broke out my pink gutting gloves.
  6. Not to derail this thread, but did I mention I leased a new landrover. Plenty of space inside for all the hunting necessities. In fact, I fit 4 50lb bags of corn it from country max. You guys kill me.
  7. Go get em Eddie. You will feel better in the fresh air.
  8. Good luck to all the kids going out. I hope they all have successful and safe hunts with some big bucks down. Love to see those photos of the youngster with the big smile on his/her face.
  9. Check classifieds. He has a beautiful Sako Bavarian Carbine for sale. I may be a bit partial though as I love Sakos.
  10. Bought and sold on armslist without an issue.
  11. Have a redfield. Works fine and battery lasted three seasons. Well worth the money.
  12. I got this picture on my trail camera the other day the first pic is the actually picture the second one is when i brighted picture. Um, guessing this altered photo was posted solely to generate discussion. 2010 is not the other day by most standards. Maybe the OP is actually the ghost since time seems not to be applicable to him/her. lol
  13. Core Most on here hunt in stands, including myself. Its exponentially more difficult to kill a deer by still hunting with a bow in my opinion. Not impossible, just harder. You have had a great start to the season already by getting in range and seeing deer. If you end up killing one with the bow still hunting, it would be a great accomplishment, even more so your first year hunting. You have reason to stay positive already.
  14. I know of one hunter that passed a 120"er in 8h. It wasn't me. He has a bigger target so not sure if he would have passed anyways. I have avoided the stands most likely to produce a good buck so far to avoid that potential agony.
  15. That's it - Steuben Co has the best bucks. Or at least the area WNY hunts. lol
  16. Captain Mark Brozovitz of Reel Crazy Charters out of IBay is another great option and great guy. I do know him personally. http://www.reelcrazycharters.com/
  17. I fish the lake all summer and participate on LOU (fishing forum). Not sure where you are looking to head out, but Yankee Troller is top notch. They catch a ton of fish. I should mention, I don't know the captain personally, but do follow their adventures throughout the summer.
  18. Don't give up Shadd. The deer will still be milling about if they are accustomed to ATVs. Plus, its early.
