Trichinosis, is only a problem if you feed the hogs meat that is infected with the trichnella worm.
-
Cooking it through and through is a must, unless you like trichinosis

Awesome mounts! Who ever did the cougar and coyote did a great job! Seen way too many bad cougar and coyote mounts.

Only have a 10pt and an 8pt mounted so far. Thinking of mounting a pheasant or turkey this year if I don't shoot a wall hanger. Would love to mount a fox one day. I can only put them in my room so space is limited right now.

I think grampy hit the nail right on the head! Having gone through middle school and high school a littler more recent than many on here I can definitely say that majority are just plain old uninformed. I did catch some flack by a few who were anti's, but most were fascinated to hear about hunting and many didn't even know you can hunt in NY. Some were actually quite interested in hunting as well. I think some outreach programs could do wonders for our sport...the only problem is getting them to allow those kinds of programs in school. I actually had a vegan engineering and physics professor who's wife's family survived on hunting in the mountains of Montana. I used to think he was against hunting for obvious reasons, but was pleasantly surprised when he came to my aid and supported me when a couple anti's were expressing their views about my hunting activities. Needless to say I gained a lot of respect for him at the time.

WHAT AND WHEN ?
ATbuckhunter replied to Paratrooper395's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Only time I can hunt over any open field its only grass. Deer seem to like it enough though so ill have to say grass. -
I skin the deer from the rear down and give the taxi the whole cape. Id rather let him deal with it instead of me.

Looks like I stand corrected! Ill have to ask a couple chem professors when I go to class today just to be sure.

Rage titanium's for me

You are correct about the half life of ozone...its about 3 days when at 20 C. Still can be harmful in those two days. Id rather put my hunting clothes in a bin full of charcoal than release ozone in my house.

Why don't you bring a light weight kayak or canoe with you so you can reach those places way in the back? Or is there any other way to get out there?

Where do you plan on hunting?

Today, Sunday September 4th is the canonization of Mother Teresa. For those who don't know Mother Teresa is actually Albanian (Real name: Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu) born in an Albanian region during the Ottoman Empire (now part of Macedonia). You may know her as mother Teresa of Calcutta because she did most of her work in Calcutta India. Today was a great day for all Albanians weather they were Muslim, Catholic or Orthodox. I could not be happier that she finally received what she deserved. There was also a celebration in Battery Park that was a great time and attended by people of all religions of Albanians. Ill try to post videos of the celebration in a little.

Butt out! The best piece of gear I ever bought!
ATbuckhunter replied to Chef's topic in Deer Hunting
I usually do everything with one knife that i got a long time ago. Now i use a gut hook to make it a little easier but still use that one knife for everything else. I never liked the butt out tool because i never liked using brute force on anything involved with the gut cavity. normally all do is cut around the hole and tie it with a piece of string so I can pull it out later. -
Among the best of the best! One of my favorite to eat.

Sounds like a great rifle! Post a pic when you can

You guys/ gals on this site are awesome
ATbuckhunter replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
At the end of the day no matter how our opinions might align or differ from one another, we are all hunters. We all love being in he outdoors and having a crack at harvesting an animal or two. We can always find common ground there and be willing to look past the rest in order to help one another out. -
Looking forward to it!
-
Wow that sounds awesome! Id love to see how it preforms in the field, but I have a bad suspicion that it will only glow for a few yards.

No, but the Coriolis effect has the opposite effect on a bullet in southern hem than in the northern hem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Thats a pretty tall spike there!
-
Only if your shooting at extended ranges. The Coriolis effect on shooting out to 300 yards is negligible. If shooting at 1000 yards, the bullet impact if shooting north should be towards the left and vice versa if shooting south.

I aim for right behind the shoulder if it is broadside. Kills the deer with in a min and doesn't destroy any meat. I have shot the shoulder with a rifle and it drops the deer in its spot, but ruins a little more meat. With a bow its always behind the shoulder.
