Hope it lasts till Tomorrow AM in Canandaigua. -
NY, FLA, Utah . Penn is a blocker , I just unload and lock up separate and truck on through . Or put it in the wife’s purse , with the drugs . Rob c ,yes Penn used to honor non resident permits from fla and Utah ,which was nice .

The farm has frowned on walking and driving for a number of years now , that and each little piece is now assigned to one person , my days of going all over have sadly passed . Although there’s a couple spots on my piece ,we may walk out separate ways , with one guy standing in a certain spot waiting for the other . Al , I have knowledge of our land I’ve hunted it successfully for 34 years , I’m convinced the deer have moved , off this year ,why ? Simply because my sightings and cameras are down to perhaps a tenth of those other 33 years . My camera in my best spot got one pic in ten days of late bow and early gun . Ill be back out tomorrow, sooner or later one will pass through .

Who knows . Where I hunt it’s relatively small farm wood lots, ,thickets ,and brushy creek bottoms , spook them and they run sometimes two or three other woods away . Now give me two, men ,and some deer will die , I can tell you what tree they’ll run to across the field or road .

Why Joe Biden MUST NOT become President
Nomad replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I survived Clinton and Obama , I’ll survive Harris as well . We’ve been making moves to protect assets for years , for this very thing . It however has become more difficult to move money off shore , although we have a number or friends now trying . There’s a reason they want a cash less society . -
I wish I had an answer , any scenario I can come up with I’ve had years prior too .All the crops were cut early , well there’s been years it was to wet to plant any . To many coyotes , well same every year. Nobody out pushing them , same every year . Warm, had plenty of warm years . Joe took a great buck , and my daughter should have , but those have been the only bucks I’ve seen in gun and one was dead . Bow sightings way way down , yet summer pics were off the charts . Jeez, I’ve turned in to quite a whiner this year ! Maybe after 34 years on this spot the deer have just finally outsmarted me .

I’ve given anyone who asked permission , frankly it’s open crops ,with a couple hedgerows ,drainage ditches and a small wood lot . The guy who,I,let hang one stand , in a hedgerow , I had one of my stands in that same hedgerow! I try hard to accommodate, but some guys are my tolerance testers .

I’m not sure when the last year was I didn’t get a buck and it’s been decades since I didn’t get a deer of some sort ,yet here I am not only deer less, but not seeing much at all . Yet I know as much of a pain it’s become , at some point there’s bound to be a deer with worse luck then I .

Public as in anyone can come on , then several times what we pay in taxes on it . 116 acres we pay about $2,200 a year ,but we rent it to a farm ,their rent pays all the taxes and a profit . They never call and complain , they maintain the drainages , and the check arrives on time . I once gave permission to a guy who lived next to,our land to put ONE stand in the hedgerow behind his house , as I get it, he wants to hunt at “ home “ once in awhile . Told him don’t shoot young bucks, no driving or walking around and just him . Next thing my phone is ringing ,it’s from the homeowners who’s houses run along our land on the OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD , his buddies are driving my one acre wood lot, and shooting at running deer right behind their homes. Just don’t need the hassle

Nephew called he saw 22 this morning , he’s in Tenn. I assume the same moon phase though . -
Not sure that’s for me , I don’t care much for euros either lol. My friend does these for $60, this is my first buck from the ‘80s sometime I sawed the antlers off , he did this many years later for me. The two bands are off the first goose I shot it was double banded which from the reaction of the guys that took me is a big deal . I have a knack for annoying other hunters with my luck lol

What’s a buck and where do I find one ?

Looking for recommendations on Yote setup
Nomad replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Killed them with a compound ,xbow and my deer rifle .... never actually went coyote hunting though . Shaved the back hair off one OD this year, should have dialed my Nikon BDC up , and passed two more easy shots the first week . -
When I worked in a factory, half the guys could forget about getting Monday off, myself included . On the FD of course we weren’t a M-F job, so the Sat opener was just as hard , there were years when I had 25 years on the job and it was closed when it came to me to, pick my vacation . If one week end lost kills an enter towns economy, they were circling the drain anyways , or I grossly underestimate the shear volume of alcohol hunters can consume in two days .

Some small piece of equipment with two headlights . -
Thanks for the update totally understandable , and with a 52 hour response time by the DEC , no wonder it’s a high poaching area .
-
Enjoy your day !

One way is to not mow, Brush hog fields . This piece was all field when I started hunting it , now as you can see it’s part open field and an outer lane way all the way around where it’s mowed . But the other part is now a true two hands to get through it and you’ll still lose your hat ! The not shown Double Buck “ field “ was once a field and now it’s the thicket piece on the property. Some guys plant fast growing tall vegetation, others hinge cut and other things I know little about .

Yikes ! Ya bow was weird with far far fewer sightings , gun is absolutely a ghost town . I’ve hunted this ground 32 bow seasons and 34 gun seasons , this one is like no other . Same here no buddy out much ,few shots . Good luck -
I guess I like mornings better, although I seldom kill any at first light or last light in the afternoon . My favorite sunrises ,though were what we called a Scio st sunrise , where you watch the sun come up through the burned out attic roof , wet ,cold ,hungry with black snot running down your face . But I’m a romantic.

Hunted hard since OD, with Turkey day off , today I saw two run into woods and away from me , after which I heard a load snap of a branch from where they started to run . So now my deer sightings are up to 4 . Or what should be an average morning sit lol . -
Round two coming up ! Talking with a guy who lives next to my spot, he hasn’t see a deer yet in gun. We both feel it’s mostly due to the fact that once crops are harvested, the ground is turned over or covered In manure, there’s no corn stubble , or spilled beans to pick through ,the food is just gone . Yet less then a mile away there’s 100’s of a acres of standing corn and so on . Add in few hunters out ( I saw one pick up parked on my drive down and back ) and nobody pushes anything anymore , they used to be pushed around all day on OD and weekends . Oh well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to, it !
