  1. That’s just odd . Just went to a shop that sells to military and first responders only so it’s pretty controlled to begin with you have to get buzzed in ect , ammo is now behind a counter , worker gets it for you . At point of sales, instead of showing just my work ID it’s my DL they record that info along with occupation .
  2. FYI the gun shop I go too had 3 or 4 different boxes of 6.5 creedmoor, I didn’t ask the price . Fresh out of 7mm08, grabbed some 9mm hp .
  3. He must know many hunters are scared of Dec officers , but yes I agree . Im asking to see his tin AND photo ID , as anyone can order a badge online . I do admire his ingenuity and spunk , that took balls .
  4. Little used, , Nikon BDC scope and I’ll throw in one box of Winchester 150gr ammo . It’s a lefty , years back my right eye was weak and I switched to shooting lefty , remarkably easy ! After LASIK’s im back to right handed and a7mm08 . it’s in Webster NY you want it that’s where it is , buyer pays transfer fees , gun shop ten minutes away . online it looks like they sell for $550 ? $300 or it sits in the safe
  5. Heard a guy on the radio , said Cabellas ? In Buffalo , ammo roped off, one employee monitors it and let him go get his ammo . Then two more employees , one takes your info and records that along with caliber, manufacturer , amount and lot number , the last one did the sale . That’s currently three employees just for a box ammo . It’s also surprising that Dicks policy isn’t uniform across the state .
  6. His issue , if he wants to hunt with it this year , maybe finding ammo . Some stores are pulling it and while it’s online , they won’t ship to NY anymore . That would be my number one concern with a new caliber this close to the season .
  7. First arrows since last year . Shoulder is currently working and old eyes are seeing a single pin so far and not two fuzzy ones where there should be one like last year . I need to go down and clear one path , and trim the weeds around another stand , next week sometime . Oh and I guess I should buy my license too .
  8. Been killing deer every year since the ‘70s, it was two seasons ago when the question was answered for me . For the first time in decades it looked like I would be skunked , and it was the lack of meat that troubled me , horns I like but they get tossed in a pile in the basement . Fortunately a doe fawn went into my freezer near seasons end .
  9. Actually I smoked the first one in a few weeks under it last night along with a couple G/T . To close to the garage to set it off though . i used to stand a lot, now mostly first and last light , part of getting fat and lazy I guess .
  10. I mostly sit in bow as well, when I see a deer I may want to shoot I stand at the appropriate time , but I’m super stealthy this might not work for others . Larrys training tip of the week , go outside at night and practice moving, standing and drawing in front of a motion activated light , without setting it off…. I can cross my driveway most times .
  11. What ? It let my wife and I ( zero college ) achieve a level of wealth in our 50s many only hope to cross one day . It Allowed us to pay cash for our kids college too , who btw are well on their way of exceeding us financially. Longterm time horizon, buy and hold , dollar cost average , index funds primarily, with some well picked individual stocks , don’t try and time the market , as you age put your “age” into bonds ( loose rule many variables.) your welcome , that’ll make you a millionaire given 30 years or so .
  12. Friend hasn’t worked in a bit, but said he saw it coming there. With all the new requirements, many stores will simply stop selling ammo, that’s pretty clear and those that do will pass on the increased costs to the buyer .
  13. Visa opposed this in an open letter to the gov. Saying it wasn’t moral for them to report on people buying legal items . A short time later they caved for for some reason . The way it’s written and comments by supporters and members of the gov. make it clear this is just a begging step using cash won’t soon matter. Stores here are recording the name , address , occupation, of ammo buyers, now along with caliber , lot number, amount , manufacture, cash or CC doesn’t matter . These are simply begging steps , oh and I’ve been against the move to cashless for some time .
  14. As luck would have it we have a 1 pm meeting with our advisor. I’ve always done most of our own investing , but this guy is a friend and helps me out at times , he handles a small amount of our money , generally you wouldn’t get him for this amount . Hes constantly interviewed by local and nation news , today may be a busy day for him .
  15. I’ll text my fellow retiree he works the gun counter there . Also I’m hitting my normal shop on Thursday to see what they’re done if anything .
  16. I’m all over the place , no one saying could possibly cover what i shoot or when , sometimes I don’t even know till the moment it feels right.

    Alaska

This 4 hour time change is killing me ! Animal run down , brown bear, black bear , caribou, moose, dall sheep eagles . We also made the 30% club three times actually, only 30% of visitors see Mt Denali due to cloud cover . Now to get ready for bow season !
  18. Briefly hit the store today , jar of mayonnaise $6.50 a chuck roast was $22 !
  19. Yep, I got people upset at me because I used the appropriate term Fudds . That’s why I almost wish they’d stop selling hunting ammo , just so perhaps They’d begin to understand they’re after all guns and all gun owners .
  20. Four posts, clearly few care anymore , but post about crossbows and hold on !

Ya I’ve had three bows in 34 years of bow hunting , seldom change anything on them , it’s seldom I have any work done on one , idk a string every 5 or 10 years ? I have arrows made every few years though .
  22. Married my wife came with 120 acres of farmland and cousins with 3000 more . Mike drop , Boom !
  23. G man and Wny bow Hunter saying 19.5 to 20 makes me rethink it , but I’m sticking to 22 plus. That seems wider then my 20 by a fair bit , but I’ve never “ scored “ a deer and only measure inside spread on one deer a year .
  24. 22-24. my buck from last year is 20 , that looks wider .
