  4. If you pay attention off on the right just before the Roberts Weslyen exit I believe , there is a narrow strip of woods near some houses . Up in a tree is a plastic port a potty turned into a stand .
  5. Not a nude beach , more an anything goes Key. Oh and he's wearing a yellow , sock like object , so not really nude I guess. im fully clothed , for now ....

  8. Found this in my quest to,learn. http://www.thetruthaboutknives.com/2013/04/ask-a-knifemaker-the-truth-about-damascus/
  9. As with all knives the key is what steel ( in this case steels ) are used, as well as heat treat , grinds, bevels etc. Handle material , file work, mosaic pins and over all fit and finish can all add much to the cost. As with so many things getting that extra bit of perfection is often the most expensive part of the item . Enjoy your knives fellas . NYbowhunter, that knife looks very well made with some nice touches , at that price point ! For the record the last knife I bought ( last week) was a $15 Mora , great knife .
  10. Congrats . One thing you may enjoy is joining Bladeforums.com . The following pics are from their , knife makers market place. You can talk right t the makers of all levels of knives, have something made to your specs and so on. while there say hello to Lone Hunter.......
  11. Here's one of the pics I got a couple days after he killed it, part of a text conversation , I have others but can't find them, I believe I may have deleted that text messages and not saved the pics. He should have put on a UA hat and slung some high end binos over his neck, endorsements and appearances could give him a good start in life .
  12. I just posted my knife question this morning , we'll see what answers I get. Now not knowing what you know about handmade or custom knives, I'll say this . The top makers often aren't taking any orders and if they do the wait can be a couple years , and their price reflects the demand . The trick is the find a new guy who puts out great work, but is not yet recognized as so. For example years ago I bought a handmade folder from a new maker I just started to hear about , I paid $200 a cheap price for all the work in making a folder I thought . Two years later he was getting $500 for the same knife . Other times one can find a guy who bangs the out decent knives almost like a one man factory . From what I've seen in my search , one can find some in the $85 range , these seem to,be made over seas and without handling its hard to say if they are any good. I've found some makers with prices in the $300 range for a 3-4 inch fixed blade . Try a image search and click on ones that appeal to,your eye, and go from there . Often there are makers who can make you a fixed blade for $200 or so, but Damascus takes a bit more work, and of course require forging and some makers only do the stock removal method . Doesnt appear to be many factory made Damascus .
  13. The mistake the kid made was saying his ML misfired on the deer the day prior I believe . He should be written down all the gear he used and how it helped bag that buck .... That where the $ is . I just texted my nephew to see what he knows .
  14. Good news ! I posted the kill here the day after he shot it, the kid is the cousin of my nephews hunting partner down there in Tenn. Oh and they got a bigger one on camera that seems to have made it through the season , I may have to go down and hunt with them next year. !
  15. Im not up on Damascus makers , however I'll post your question on a knife forum later today and get back to you.
  16. Help is always better or lug a ladder in,one with a V for setting against the trunk, use ladder to add and remove straps. That said I often carry in and hang ladders alone, including this one , about a half mile carry. I use ropes and all the stuff others have said . Sometimes I just work harder not smarter .
  17. Most houses in the city I work for don't have sumps, just floor drains . A large number of them don't work, plugged up over the years I guess, many times you've can't even get the cap off, and smashing through them with a 4 foot bar is the method to remove . After that we find many won't drain anyway.... Now these are old homes and often not kept up.
  18. Many of us in the pro gun , anti safe act camp, are waiting till Dec. And sending in paper forms. Flood them with a hundred thousand paper ones at the same time . i totally understand checking a co - registered box it tells them it will show up on another's permit as well , co possession 100 miles apart not so much. Words have meanings and it says, list guns in your possession , 100 miles away in another persons safe does not fit any legal definaton of possession I can find. Like much of the unsafe act, it's poorly written .
  19. Thanks I was viewing the form on my phone and did not pick up on the co- registered check box . Although I still fail to see how a gun in another's safe 100 miles away , is in ones " possession ". That's an odd definition as far as other laws go . Anyways she has till 2020 till she'll have to renew .

Im not a big IPA fan , yet double IPAs I enjoy .... This one is good .
  21. From what I read , it said to list all handguns in your possession . What about ones co registered? One daughter in another city has some of mine on her permit, but not in her possession .....
  22. Not a big fan of candles , I mean the are good for business , anyway heres a store bought one someone gave us . Along with a pic of a Christmas tree fire we had on Christmas this year. Nobody was home but being in the city we got a call as soon as flames broke out one window . We made fast work of it containing the fire to less than half of one room . Decorations , strings of lights , holiday candles use caution .
  23. Congrats and tip of the hat to Cabin Fever . There is quite a bit of things like that , that go on behind the scenes here. One guy lent a barrel to another members daughter to try, others have sent beer to guys, helped guys find bucks, given away a bag of antlers to a guy so he could do projects with his son, signed over doe permits, taken newbies out, to name few I know of . Keep it up fellas and gals !
  24. Ok thanks. I gave up on it half way through the first year . Went back to the town barn , less guys more deer. The town hunt really changed things around Pellet / Whitting roads for the land owners / hunters I know in the area , their take dropped, guys all over, trespassing on their land and so on. Irondequote put hunters in an area there was none. Webster put them where guys already were on adjacent land . Nice opportunity for others to hunt town land I agree , not so nice for the adjacent land owners/ hunters I know .
