    Beer

For those that don't know what Chimney Bluffs is, it's a small state park about 40 miles east of Rochester , along Lake Ontario. I recommend a visit and hike along the bluffs, followed by a stop at Sodus Point, for a couple beers and a bite to eat along the bay. That's what we did .

    Beer

I enjoy this beer . I'm not a big hoppy guy ,so I don't buy a lot of ipa's, so bocks, porters and the like are what I buy. I also like to support Genny. You'll never hear me talk about ," notes of this, followed by a hint of that with a nice clean aftertaste ." So all I can say is I like it . On a side note.... Three Heads is opening a brewery about 1/2 mile from the firehouse I work out of ! Brewpub, outdoor seating and they have a bunch of food trucks coming I believe on Friday and Saturdays . We last spoke to them a few days ago ,set to open in June .
  5. I was waitng for this take this turn......

    Yeti

That's the trick. Find something at 1/3 the cost that gives 90% of the performance . It's always making something that last bit better that adds the most to the cost.
  8. I just brought 5 guns, 3 old hunting knives ( '68 Puma white Hunter ,Marbles from 1911), A box of old ammo, a scope off my deer shotgun , to Hesseny auctions , mentioned above . They seem very nice, they research prices ( the more it sells for the more they get ) and handle all the paperwork, nics checks and so on . They said it all would sell, and prices seem to be around the retail valves , sometimes less sometimes more, but it tends to average out. Time will tell, but I wasn't about to try and sell them one by one, meeting each buyer at a gun shop for nics check , dealing with no shows and , low ballers.
  9. It's not " what she wants ", I liked the look, she didn't . That was about it , honestly I could put on a trash can lid if I wanted . In my Familyroom is a mount over the TV , two antler mounts , one turkey fan, one rattle snake mount and a foot tall alligator dressed as a mariachi holding a pair of Morocco's . Oh and the deer head gets decorated at Christmas time , and she's often the first to start hanging things on him . As for the red , it looks like someone at some point ," sealed " it or something .
  10. Well Lake Ontairo is two miles north of me. But the Bay in my avitar is a much better source . I have a friend who collects drift wood and I mean giant root balls the size of half a Buick . logs 10 , 15 feet long . He has a part of his yard that looks like a driftwood Stonehenge ,or something . I think I'll just grab some more barn wood . Don't worry of offending me, there is nothing a stranger on the internet could say, that would. ( no offense)

    Beer

Gave my neighbor ( my Heady Topper source ) a humidor, cutter and some cigars . He handed me a couple beers to try . Here's tonight's .
  12. No she's cool with where I hang things . The line is deer piss in the refrigerator and nightcrawlers in the beer cooler . Ok looks like the wood will become a clock or something .
  13. I respect all your comments , the problem is your all in agreement with Mrs. 302 on this .
  14. Well I sure Stomped around the ground this spring looking for sheds, did not find any dead deer so that was good. Since he walked off with two doe I believe he survived the encounter . I'm up in th air with the slab myself . The farm has many many old large barns they don't use and I brought home a piece of barn wood off one a few weeks back intending to use that. I dropped it in the driveway and in spilt in two..... I could get more but barn wood is a very common backing on Euros thinking of changing it up.
  15. So last years bow kill has just been lying around , when I came across this piece of wood slab in our basement and got to thinking . My wife says the wood came from her Dads farm, not cut there but someone got it at a woodsmans exhibition or something and it was just hanging around the farm as it now is our basement..... I kinda like it but I'm not 100% , appreciate your thoughts . Opps guess I should post the pic. !!! Larry
  16. And try to buy used. My canoe is $1,000 new, or on Craigslist you can buy a slightly used one for $400 .
  17. I don't even use roasts anymore, because I can get them to taste fine for the initial meal, But leftovers were always not so good . I'd be interested in correcting that.
  18. http://www.nucanoe.com/nucanoe-frontier/ I use an Open Canadain aka a canoe , Old Town Discovery 169. If you're going to go kayak for hunting and fishing, look at the above link , that's they are made for . You can stand , and even walk in them, lots of room for gear and they track very well. I've canoed 100's of miles of Rapids from the Yukon , British Columbia to local rivers and lakes. There is nothing worse then using a canoe or kayak that's made for one kind of use for another . Want to hunt and fish, buy one made for that .
  19. When we remodeled our kitchen, I put everything out at the road for trash pick up . I left a 12 pack under the last cabinet , I also helped them load it all, when he got to the 12 pack it looked like he was going to leave it, I said that's for you. After that I could have left dead bodies and they would have took them .
  20. I give all the credit in the world to guys from NYC who hunt ! I've killed deer a half my from my house, and my land is 35 minutes away. I have my own shooting range and so on. The effort it would take me if I lived there, would be hard for me to muster.
  21. Imagine is all it would ever be my friend .
  22. I have here and there over the years , and I've nailed some decent Toms. But I have not gone this year and only once last year .in fact I'm selling my Mossberg 835 turkey gun. Well the woods is often to warm and buggey for me. There is no way I'm getting up that early to,kill a Turkey no way. The ones I did kill were when I went in around 9 but then it's getting warm out, and I rather be boating or working around the yard. It seems like a waste of a nice warm spring day. Wild turkey meat is just ok to me, not going out of my way to get a little bit of it ,
  23. I Can't do it, after what we went through with my parents stuff, no way I'd do that I'd do that to my kids . Funny part is we had a company come in that buys everything , leaves the house broom clean. We turned down their offer , then after weeks of sales, people who never showed , sorting, pricing , donating , borrowing tables from friends and family for the estate sale , trips to get rid of hazardous waste, throwing stuff out each week . We ended up with about the same amount . Books are going to,the library , records being sold tomorrow , baseball gloves went to a family down the street , some guys at work got some free knives , this just scratches he surface . Animal shelter is getting a pile of old blankets and fleece throws (our kids had stacks of these ). The antlers i think I'll toss where some of you guys look but can't find any sheds..... Seeking a balance between a Monk and hoarder , like a well armed Monk with a liquor cabinet and big screen . Philoshop , you have very good advice. My Mom collected crackle glass and cut glass. She had a "book" with each piece listed , price, date and so on . The glass is gone , but the book stays.
  24. Some guys like to carve the handle of their Opinel . Seems like that would be like standing in a bucket and lifting yourself up by the handle .....
