  1. It's all about public relations , if they ask for a picture , well it'd be impolite to refuse !
  2. I prefer to hunt like the Indians did, you know, 85 % let off, drop ,away rest, fiber optic sites , release, carbon arrows. While wearing a scent loc suit, from a tree stand with a range finder, 6 trail cams, and a gps . Just like Ishi .
  3. We ate here today about 2 hours prior, at that time all the lightening seemed to be over the lake . A number of years ago we went for a lightening strike to a strip joint here in Roch. One of the strippers came out in a fireman's out fit..... We posed for a picture, I'll see if I can find it at home tomorrow !
  4. My Dad served in WWII at 18. Here's a new clipping about his family, they got notified , of his brothers and one uncles death in the war on the same day, another uncle was killed not long before . That war took a large toll on many families , God bless our Vets.
  5. The bottom lines are communication lines i.e. Phone and cable . Since you said they are almost reaching or touching I assume then it's the bottom ones . Power lines are above those and the safety gap between communication and power . Wires down is a very common call for us , it's almost always the lower as that's what trucks hit and tear down . We walk up cut the line with.wire cutter , coil up the rest , Mark it with yellow tape, to,try and keep every passerby from calling it in again ..... And have dispatch call cable or phone co . I dug out some Lilacs that were over grown soon after we moved In 20 years Ago, I still take grief from my wife about that . The other day I stopped along the road and cut a few off a lilac tree( bush ?) and brought them home so,the house smells nice and she's happy.
  6. It was years ago , 240 gr. JHP . Many like solids but those worked fine for me . When I used my ML in regular season , I toted my 357 for close up deer and finishing off, if needed. Like if I spined one. Just easier to climb down and go over for a quick finish , rather then reloading my MK 85, which was rather slow , just trying to get an 11 cap on took some time . While on stand I would put my handgun in my day pack and have it hanging off my seat so I could slip my hand into pack, with little movement in case one slipped in without me knowing ,and or my long gun was hanging on a hook.... Enjoy your new gun.
  7. Scope wise, I had one on my 8 inch Dan Wesson .44 for awhile . Took it off did not need it under 50 yards and it just made the whole package rather large . I was at the time only carrying a handgun . What's your plans ? If you'll be carrying a rifle too, no way I'd scope the handgun . Only the handgun? , see how you shoot it and really what are you looking to,get out of it? A more challenging way to hunt ? Hunt thick area with short shots or field edges ? Nice gun have fun .

    Beer

I'm willing to,bet I drink my beer way to "cold" at home, but that's how I like it .
  9. Treasured family heirloom ..... Grandparents brought home from FLA. It's stamped Cuba. Needs a good cleaning , and some glue on his toes , that are getting weak .
  10. Belo I very much like it. I went the hanger route for now. It's on a basement wall but with a mount , flat screen, and now this sticking out from wall, it's getting crowded .

    Beer

Some sort of pale ale . After work yesterday ( which was my Friday ). Sitting on Park Ave watching girls jog By .
  12. Happens every May around me . Passed a dead fawn a few minutes ago on 590 North near 104, but really they're all over the expressways.
  13. That's a good question. Some only shoot what they would mount, others anything wider then the ears ,so say 17 inches ( and that could be a 2 1/2 ) . Myself last year in bow I took a 17 inch wide 6 pt but a very solid body and a cake shot at 10 yards , then I passed a similar buck ( 8 pt 25 yards with my .270) the second day of gun , as I would only shoot much bigger for a second buck . We have no set rule other then try to,pass the young ones , so ideally that would be pass all up,to 3 1/2 and some would say those as well. But there are a number of farms and hunters involved and nobody can force anything upon another farm , our farm , it's outside the ears , yet some only will shoot a buck they would mount . Some have monsters on the wall , and they go years sometimes between bucks . Others are after a certin one . Not me , in bow I don't mind hunting a lot and passing , but if it's a cake shot and what I feel is a good hunt , that first big enough buck is going down . Although this year knowing what's there , and having a pile decent bucks in the basement ,I may hold out . I change year to,year it seems..... Just a passing 1 1/2 and most 2 1/2 , banned driving and walking around , having areas off limit has made a big difference . I don't read books about deer hunting or go to seminars , plant food plots, we just pass up.younger bucks and oddly enough they become older bucks .

    EAB Proposed

    Black visa ? I'm Good to,go !
  15. A 15 y/o bottle of Pappy would be nice . A few times a year guy down the street brings me some Heady Topper, I really appreciate that . Summer time I enjoy Tangueray with some Liber cocktail syrup . So that would work too .
  16. The soil is good with lots of crops. But my point is something as simple as passing on the young ones , more or less can bring success as far as an older age class . We have no over all master plan other than letting young bucks live . No ratio or deer per square mile , no one buck rule, don't know anyone with a " food plot " .I've hunted the ground 30 years and just doing this one thing has really changed things .
  17. I don't know much of the ins and outs of qdm and the like. The large farm I hunt and many surrounding though have a complex set of hunting rules ,kill as many does as you wish and only bucks wider then the ears, and that scale kinda slides a bit for bow..... and first timers get to shoot what they want , and "mistakes" seem to happen as well . Here's what we got ( a small sample ), most of the trail cam ones were killed as well . And no.

Nice ! Opened our pool after work, today . Sipping Jim Beam Devils Cut tonight, I've had much more expensive bourbons , but I enjoy this one and the price point is great !

  22. And my American Standard toilet sh#% the bed after one year and a month, and they told me to bad. The bowl cracked, it has a five year warranty but I did not save the receipt ( my fault ) but the manufactor date is stamped into the tank it's less then three years old. But they would not budge , two, phone calls over an hour of trying . Guys at work said just buy a new one, put cracked one back into that box and return it for refund, but no I had to try and play by the rules..... Five year warranty , made less than three years ago, I tied it their way .
