  1. I put 3 out sometime in the summer . I pretty much have stands all set late winter early spring , over the last 30 years I pretty much leave them where I know they'll work. What walks by walks by .
  2. There are a great many ( most ?) long guns that were designed for military use. From muskets to bolt action rifles .
  3. The oldests birthday tonight , so this sea food dish along the clear waters of Irondequote Bay....
  4. Left eye dominate , right handed , so I buy all left handed guns or top tang bottom eject so I can shoot lefty . Right now I'm shooting my rifle lefty but my front door shotgun ( Benneli ) with its ghost ring front sight I shoot righty ..... as I see the site clearer. Handguns shoot right handed left eyed ... Although the giant floater and the smaller 100 or so really are messing up my left eye . Oh to answer the question I close one eye , although I guess you're not supposed to .
  5. Can't find the link right now , but what I read a group was hiking , went past the " no entry" area or ever they call it and entered the water . It was an area of sloppy rocks and as we all know swift water that is always before falls . One fell in and It seems like others tried to grab that person and they ended up in the fast moving water above the falls .

  9. I've read the penal code as well, and don't recall that wording. I'm late for the gym I'll post it later .It does say gravity or centrifugal force , which is the issue as the latter is not gravity . Keep in mind one can carry a fixed blade in NYC ....
  10. gPeople there are getting arrested because of overreach and a misinterpretation of the law as written and well , the laws of physics ..... Only in NYC would gravity have a different meaning the the rest of the universe !
  11. This has been going on for years, and it seems finally we may get NYC laws ( really there interpretation of them overturned ). Here goes a gravity knife as used by paratroopers, is simply a knife with the blade inside the handle, a button is pressed ,( much like and out the front auto, with out a spring) and if the knife is tipped upside down the blade drops straight out and locks. Gravity is what causes the blade to drop out. NYC says any knife that can be opened with a wrist flick is a gravity knife. If it takes a cop ten tries, if it takes several cops until one can flick it open , you go to jail. I believe 60,000 arrests over the last ten years . Cops love it as it builds arrest numbers...... If your pocket clip is showing, NYPD considers that open carry and will stop you take the knife and " test" it . Workmen , stagehands , visitors all make up the major number of arrests. Those folding razor blade knives every handyman carries, is a gravity knife down there. An odd group of artists , stagehands, knife rights groups , and even the New York Times has come out against current law. 16 ga that's not quite right , almost all folders have a bias towards closer , be it ball detents on liner locks , to the spring on lockbacks , the design of the Axis lock, tri lock ,arc lock and on and on. Take out your Buck 110, Spyderco Delica, Benchmade Griptilian, pinch the blade and pull it open a half inch or so and let go . It snaps back closed, the fact that it doesn't open when tipped upside down shows graivity won't open it . See below . http://www.akti.org/resources/additional-definitions/
  12. Turkeyfeathers , I own some Surefires, a Tomcat and a Beagle .....
  13. My nephews daughter goes to private school in Nashville , and Luke Bryan's kid is in the class, along with 3 former NFL QB kids and Phil Vassers kid . I'm not much into today's country music , but my nephew says he's a nice guy and a fellow Hunter , so I'd share a campfire with him.
  14. Define " elderly ". I've seen people say those in their 50's and 60's are elderly lol .
  15. The towns are the ones who make you rezone, so,yes . Not all your neighbors will want it . Fracking was going to be big too..... The farmers , land owners I know who did their vetting turned the offer down. They told me " I would not make out on that deal ". I have no idea , not a big deal to me .
  16. Nice to see the owner pay the bill too , best to,your dog . Pepper spray is decent, some drawbacks but better then nothing. My beagle was attacked by an off leash pit bull looking type dog a few years back on the hojack trail, I broke my walking stick over its snout which backed it up a bit. Owner stayed way off not even trying,to call dog off. Then my .38 came out as we stood in some sort of Mexican stand off and I started to take up slack in the trigger , oddly enough the owner then saw a need to call his dog..... Which was good as I really did not want to fire, but I stopped it as it charged by yelling stomping my foot and raising the stick in the air, then it attacked and I broke the stick over it,a third charge I would have had to fire . One thing I'm concerned with is there are a couple women in our neighborhood who, walk very large powerful dogs , and they have no control over them. I've watched the dogs go after something and drag the women down the road as if they were waterskiing .
  17. Most of what I've read about this said , you need a lawyer who has done solar deals, as the contracts tend to,be overly complex and specialized . This piece seems to explain what is happening in NY and why. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/b12ab3f5300b4b66a0a50e35de280ff1/solar-farm-developers-target-new-york-lease-offers Around us the offer is $1,500 per acre . Your land is then rezoned commercial , and you, loose the AG tax rate and pay commercial . It seems you are responsible for removal and disposal of everything at the end. They say the scarp value will cover that , but who knows . I just spoke with people who received offers, no takers yet .
  18. Myself I see "booms" not having much effect . Guys around me are all starting to shoot after work during bow season . I shoot on my range often during bow, hunt morning , shoot guns , hunt afternoon . It's scent in the woods or being busted on stand that after awhile will change things in my woods/farm . guys often say as soon as the guns go off the deer all hide, go nocturnal ( which they are anyway no need to "go"....) I say it's a bunch of guys running around the woods not playing the wind that's a much larger factor . As far as last years doe, our farm took 40, which is about average

    Beer

Well today is my " Saturday" so,I bought this as its 9.5 . I don't drink the day before or after a night trick so,that gives me 5 days in a row of no alcohol, my balance of sorts , I start nights Wed. Not a big ipa guy , but it's hard not to try some , this is fine for an IPA . Btw I'll be in Pittsburg Sat through Mon. Taking in a couple Cardinals games, any recommendations? I'v had Iron City already ....., Been to PNC park before but don't remember what I drank .
  20. Couple months ago,I bought a new Glock , while doing the paperwork another guy was waiting for the nics system , been about an hour . I left with a Deputy who was also buying, a Glock through the blue label program we drove to,the county clerk put them on our permits and returned . Guy was still waiting for the system to work. Luckily ours could be done over the computer not phone and we got the ok in a couple minutes while the other guy was still waiting . Store said that they had a tour of where the NICS system is located and that they share phone lines with the IRS. We were there the day before Fed taxes were due , which could explain the wait then .

lI haven't worn a dog collar since my goth days..... Could I attach it to my para cord bracelet ?
  22. No ! I was so happy this was not brought up here, as I was sick of the overload of news on this ! This was one place I was free from it .
  23. Dad was in WWII , at 18 Y/O until his 20 Y/O bother was KIA along with two young uncles all around the same time . Great Uncle was in both WW on a heavy cruiser that screened for the Enterprise at many famous WWII battles , finnally taking torpeto hits and sinking . He was plucked out of the ocean after an hour or so. Uncle told stories , my Father ? I never even knew he had a brother till later in life.... I often think about that war and the men who fought it , and wether I'd have the guts to storm those beaches.

    Ticks

Wow thats horrible. I often mention it to people I see on a local trail, most act as if I'm nuts or something ( which may be partly true, but not relevant) . I've pulled a few off our dog and cat as well as myself, know a couple people and dogs that have it , ours was bitten by a tick carrying it but it did not present .
