  2. I'm one happy blue dot as well' great night to be out. Good luck all.
  3. It's a toss up, the snow covered field was last gun season and I just like that pic. The other speaks for it self , remember it's all about stand placement ! Try to set up between the seats and the bar!
  4. These guys weren't hard to track down , what with the orange Mohawk and all.....
  5. Well I love lawyers, my hunting partner , my friends wife, brother in law and nephew. I highly recommend traveling and hunting with one. Everything from upgraded rooms in the Dominican Republic ,To explaining to a rancher in Montana that no he does not own the land we're hunting on its, BLM land and while he can graze his cattle there, we be hunting it as well. Paid for our wills, poa and that other one I forget with a treestand..... When the computer store at the university where our kids went to school said I threatened their employee one phone call to my bil and it ended. Best part was the store called me back and said that I was right and the computer was indeed covered , see no need to get the cops involved I told them. Ha ha
  6. Buddy went, out this AM, monster 10 bedded in golden rod 30 yards from where he walked through it, he ( the buck) had a doe with him. After a couple hours of watching them my buddy grunted to see what would happen , well two more bucks popped up and came into him. After which the big one came in but not in range.
  7. Warm a bit windy have most of Nov off I slept in. I am going to go out to put up a blind for my daughter to use in gun, last minute change otherwise it would have been up by now. Will probably bump a nice buck from under my stand....
  8. I miss Phil Race ! As for Bullseye in Bloomfield, one day while waiting for my buddy to pick me up I decided to draw my bow to see how my shoulder felt, while letting it down something strange happened. I had wrapped my release around the string the night before and it got pulled into the cam could not get it out. So my buddy hopped in his stand and I sat in the truck till Bullseye opened and drove over. He put it in his press and freed the release. I asked how much? He said give me five bucks. I said the sign says minimum charge ten. He said your having a bad enough day !
  9. I think we all have stands where the deer come from the wrong side of it, I know I do. However most of my stands are just 20 to 30 yards in, in thicker areas and the deer tend to walk parallel to the field. I have one inside corner where in the afternoon they come from the South enter the woods East of me then turn and head west through the woods,it's pretty regular . In the morning they move there from West to East but also East to West and sometimes South to North......
  10. They plowed the cut bean field, that made a hard walk in! Breezy, strong manure smell No deer yet! One fresh scrape by stand.
  11. So your Dr is Dr Vinny Boombatz ?
  12. This is my only stand that requires me to walk any distance in the hardwoods, leaves super crunchy .... blew 3 or 4 deer out of the woods walking in. I'm 25 yards from a mowed trail that runs between the thick stuff and hardwoods, runs from cut beans to corn . I look over my left shoulder see an antler through a bunch of saplings it's headed my way , as I turn my seat cushion makes some very slight noise, Buck does a 180. See one small doe hop out of thick stuff into corn. I get to my car which is parked on a mowed lane 300 feet from road and 700 from hardwood. Open trunk two doors, change pack up,slam doors and trunk start car and as I drive around a bend, 3 deer are standing in lane 50 yards from where I'm parked..... Well I've got it narrowed down to 3 easy to get to stands for the morning .
  13. Very still and clear , lots of leaves have dropped. Iny best afternoon stand inside corner lots of acorns.
  14. Sure just last week in 8H I saw what I thought was a coyote sneaking through the brush so I shot him, turned out to be a mountain lion!
  15. At 30 yards I group better with my bow then any of my handguns other then some 6 and 8 inch .22s. I don't see a big deal, poachers poach no matter what the law says . They shoot deer now with rifles in bow season . I don't worry to much about a guy with a 3 inch open sight mouse gun. A flopping spine shot deer an arrow or a .22 in the brain. Who cares. Btw 30 some states allow handguns to be carried in bow season with no issues , and many bow hunters I know carry.
  16. Honestly I keep an eye of the forecast to see of we're in for a lot of rain or wind. Otherwise I get up open the door and see if it to windy or raining or to warm.
  17. Well glad you' re ok ! Bow , check Pack , check Glock .40 check......
  18. Here I am in my favorite t shirt for the gym......

The park is a great hunt, bunch of guys on my dept. do an annual bow hunt there ,some have hunted the park over 30 years. We have many spots on the river bottom , some of the stands have tires and other junk in the branches above them from when the river was high. I know guys who rent the cabins for over a month( different guy renting each week ) they have Rent a center bring furniture and big screens..... We bring a deer cart and a rope system to set up a 4 to 1 to haul the bucks up.... I think just packing out the rack and meat would be easier. Fun times ! Our hunt is coming up fast, if anything of note is taken ill report back .
  20. Been a Cards fan since '67, anyone who beats the Cubs has my support , plus my Dad was a Mets fan, so they're my team for the rest of the year.
  21. Let me be second. Sadly my Mug is empty, I hope to fill it and empty it a few times watching the Mets though!
  22. Ya it can't hurt to stretch . Grampy I liked your post, not because you're all messed up but because of your dedication to the bow and hunting . I work as a firefighter awhile back my shoulders were so bad it hurt to hang my bunker coat on the side of the rig. That really made me think , should I be working( probably not at that point ) , how long can I hold out and so on. PT made a world of difference for now.... Getting old is not for the weak.
