  1. Hum friend in Bristol has a Fisher on trail cam too ,thought they were kind of rare.
  2. Me foo, right handed left eye dominate But for me the switch was easy . Nice buck ! And shooting !!
  3. I move like the wind , silent and swift . I walk "in" along field edges , maybe a few hundred yards, then my stands are 30 yards or less in the woods or thickets . I may scan the fields I guess , I don't walk around or look for sign . I do,have one stand that's about 225 yards across a hardwoods, I made a nice trail with my leaf blower to it the end of bow season which is when I put it up. The deer started using it a couple days later ( the trail not stand ...) Next year I may make a bunch of trails so they walk where I want them to. Oh and after I dragged my buck out in bow season I walked with a bad limp for well over a week , right hip was killing me.
  4. In the past I always did Thanksfiving morning , not so much any more to busy and tiring of a day. I'm still off work till I think Dec 3 , happy to let the woods sit for a few days . Good luck to those heading out .
  5. Thanks ! That's a mighty sweet buck you got . I'm right handed .... But my right eye used to be very weak ( pre LASIK ) and my left eye is my master eye, so years ago I switched to,lefty for long guns. I don't golf perhaps when I'm to old for manly activites .
  6. I'm going to take a guess and say most of the "city folks"here have not spent much time in the inner city. If you have you would know that there are far more toothless Garandmothers In their late '30s, teenage girls having their 3 kid to the 3rd baby daddy, a staggering high school drop out rate . More pos cars held togather by duct tape and clothes line than any other area of the state . Ive seen plastic outdoor furniture used as main indoor furniture more than once ,one guy was burning broken up wood chairs in a 55 gallon drum inside his home...... One genius tried to kill the bedbugs on his bed by soaking it in gasoline , oh those crazy sophisticated city people ! Jeff Foxworthys career took off after he was mocked for his accent in Detroit , he was playing a club and next door the bowling alley had valet parking. They called him a redneck, he said " I'm a Redneck, if your bowling alley has valet parking you might be redneck. I suggest one spend a night in an inner city ER, and watch all the unwashed , uneducated , rude ,demanding leaches of society that occupies much of our cites come through the door . Rural area may have their share but by sheer numbers alone Cites " win" unwashed hands down.
  7. The secrete is Atomic Fireballs. Pop one in and before it's gone a deer will show up. Not sure what works on Heidi Klum , I'm still working on Sophia Vergara, came close with Mike and Ike's still fine tuning .....
  8. Yesterday morning I put a .270 round tight through her heart .
  9. Me ? No. I can shoot a doe most sits. We let young bucks walk and have some real nice ones in the area , that's what I'm after. I took a decent buck in bow and my goal is a much bigger one in gun. This morning I took a good sized doe as conditions were right, right stand , time of day, close to my car for an easy drag. But I'm fortunate I have a very good spot and tons of time to hunt. This question varies so much depending on where guys hunt and how much they do. One guy on the farm took three doe by 9:00 AM today , I know someone else that shot one out the kitchen window ..... Some on here can go days without seeing one.
  10. Back on stand watching "the slope" good afternoon spot. Weather has just been outstanding this year! It's. 40 and no wind . As of 9 AM 4 doe were taken off the farm this morning. Saw two fields with deer feeding in them around 3 as I got close this afternoon.
  11. Reel time , that was one of the best posts I've read in a long time here. I say this though, I used to bring one home to hang in my suburban yard , for the sole reason to show neighbors that I'm a hunter. We come and go in the dark , cover our deer and so forth , some folks would never know they live among hunters. I think I'm a good neighbor , keep up the yard and house , welcome new people with a gift ,always lending a hand , snow blowing their driveways. I want to show them the nice old guy on the corner is a hunter . I've also had kids come up to "look at it" that's a wonderful opportunity to explain a few things to them . Oh and now sense both our kids are off our payroll, I'm thinking off buying a truck .
  12. Plan was to drop a doe this morning , because I'm taking my daughter tonight and I don't shoot when k hunt with her as I want her to get one. So far plans working !
  13. And over in my spot in 8h deer are everywhere . Are there less hunters ? Sure I guess, bad for the hunting going forward , Great for me , gun season is like bow season this year, deer just walking around like nothing's going on . Best season in years . My only competition is moms in SUVs and yuppies commuting in BMWs.
  14. Nobody flips off an old man in a Buick ! Most wonder how the heck he shot the deer to begin with, I also drive home with the left signal on the whole way..... If someone gets upset and flips me off I consider that a win for me, but I'm weird like that.
  15. My partner Joe hunted tonight saw 7, killed a doe. About 40 deer ahead of him at the butcher. I'll be on stand in the Am solid movement since Sat. Morning I may drop a doe if I get a chance .
  16. Glad to see you try to talk it out . In reality don't we all try to keep deer on our land ? Be it food plots, providing cover and bedding ares , sanctuarys we don't ever enter , we don't allow driving or really any walking other than to and from stands in an effort to keep them as less pressured as possible . If I had to guess I'd say he did that to the trail to keep people out, people enter on trails and breaks in hedgerows , that's where I double or triple up posted signs, as it takes away the I did not see any signs excuse . I have one spot turkey hunters were crossing I placed two signs about ten foot part where the gap in the hedgerow is and a third in the center but across onto our side 20 feet or so. I was thinking of taking home some yellow " crime scene" tape to string across the gap as it's hard to say you didn't know when you have to break tape to cross. That's why I think he may have done it for people .
  17. Some tape across a trail is not going to stop deer from crossing some imaginary line. I block trails with trees and cut openings in old fences to move them over a bit to where I can shoot them ( this on my land). If you block a trail they just move over a bit and still go in that direction . Since deer travel in more than just one direction won't that tape then keep them on your land and not going onto his ? My posted managed land has a farm along one boarder that got rid of every tree and brush pile, it looks like a giant open golf course. Two of the workers line up in a ditch and shoot deer as they step out of my 15 acre sanctuary onto their wide open field , we pass young bucks they don't . Last night one kid dropped a deer at last light, I went over congraduated him . I just don't see getting worked up over what the next guy does.
  18. does rolling her eyes and yawning count ? In reality she does and even puts NCIS on mute !
  19. No,those ribbons across the trail will stop them dead in their tracks....
  20. It's simple really just buy his land , then do as you please .
  21. Paragraphs would be a good start followed by spell check.
  22. The farm I hunt is 3,000 acres but it's patch work and my spot is on a boarder. But many other farms / land owners are on board with the practice , just not those south of me, but turns out he shot a doe .
  23. I forgot to,have my wife buy more Hendricks gin while I was hunting ! So,I sent her out today. Came home ,to a nice scolloped potatoes and ham dinner and a stiff drink . Being the trophy husband has its perks !
  24. Sat for an hour and a half, one unknown right off the bat , and one decent 8 at 4:30 . Came in to 25 yards decent mass, ok fine length can't see width finally it turns not quite to ear tips . He gets a pass . Finally he busts me and runs towards property line where I know guys post up, BOOM ! I go over kid shot a doe, " hey congrats "....,,,,
