  1. To many systems to list right now. Being on knife forums for years and years, I' ev heard tons of stories like yours. The response to " who's got a knife ?" Is of course " what do you need me to cut? " As I'm sure you know Benchmade will sharpen your Presidio for free for life. They also do or did replace a blade for $35 , for when someone borrows your " knife" and use it it as a hammer, screwdriver or pry bar........ I wore the blade on my 710 down pretty far after years and years of use, $35 and a new blade!
  2. Own 120 acres ourselves and hunt a 3,000 acre farm where we managed what we take ( or is it I take whatever I manage too? ) Stands up, wood huts built , cameras up , brush hogged lanes and oh been hunting it over 25 years so I know it pretty well. I guess I could drive an hour and start knocking on doors with my climber and bow. Many folks own land, camps, or just hunt the family farm , places they are familiar with ,places they know pretty well, they'd rather not start over from scratch I'd guess. So like me they are mostly are sitting out the first two weeks, working on their houses , taking the wife for a drive to "see the leaves" enjoying the sun on the back deck. I always said I hunt to much early season, well this may have been a mixed blessing as my stands have been mostly empty and from Oct. 19th to Dec. 3 , I'm only working 6 days.
  3. You did more than most . The only thing extra you could do is , some paragraphs ...
  4. That's nothing try going to sleep with body less ghost deer in your front yard....
  5. I use an " independent " mechanic , two bays ,two lifts no sign or advertising . $50 and hour and does not mark up the parts, which many places will mark up as much as 200% or more. $50 for a diagnostic check , no further labor charge if he can fix it in under 30 minutes. Honda timing belt and water pump $600 at dealer, same belt and a better pump from Don Was $400. I have not used a chain or dealer in years.
  6. For he's a jolly good Belo .....
  7. Core nailed it. Most younger people I know don't have cable or dish.
  8. Actually I'm a once a day man, right after getting up in the morning. One and done . Every once in a while , due to getting up early to hunt I have to use the woods upon arrival . Btw a few in a Baggie in your inside coat pocket keeps, them warm for the tender "foots " out there.
  9. Atomic Fireballs. I can't believe guys still use TP in the woods. I stopped 25 years ago when our first child was born and I discovered baby wipes. Much better at the task at hand and you can clean your hands .......
  10. To warm today for me, so we did a tear off and re roof of my hut.
  11. Farm land in parts of Ontario County is inching towards that......
  12. So he makes enough for a few hundred a month lease and a suit.
  13. 1st morning sit, to many green leaves need to trim this stand! Very warm , tree rats going crazy as well. Highlight so far has been my pack falling 20 some feet.
  14. Me to ! Led Leppelin, Black Sabath, the Who, Slade, The Outlaws ,Charlie Daniels, Kiss. No turntable though.....
  15. Only out once , afternoon of OD. 3 bucks in range a fork, bb ( neither of which I would shoot) and a giant bodied buck at about 15 yards at last light. No real shot at him anyways , head on to me but with no clue I was there . I going out in the morning for a doe, I have only one stand I don't mind using at this point . It was one I was going to move to a better spot but never did. See a lot of doe there though.
  16. Yes I was going to say a witch , but I don't see a broom . Anyway I believe you cant shoot one till Oct. 31. And only with a cedar shaft , or is that vampires? Idk I'd consult the hunting guide to be sure. Btw the pic is dated 2,010 ....
  17. When I started hunting out of stands back in the '80's I tied a rope around the tree with a clove hitch and a bowline around me.... Then I got an early HSS vest thing. Big seatbelt buckels that made noise when hit by guns and bows along with ladders and such. It was Baggie and caught on tree steps, so,I put it under my outter layer . The I used those that came with standsbut they don't fit me right. My Muddy is a joy to use. Light comfortable and with good features , such as a tension relief strap that is attached to it . Easy to put on , I really love it !
  18. Btw your Prusik knot ( named after the mountain climbing dentist who populized the knot) Should be of a smaller daimeter than the safety line. It is just one of many self tensioning hitches as well. I make the closed loop with a double fisherman, this loop is than tied into the Prusik . Here is a good website for learning knots . Also don't count on it on a frozen rope. http://www.animatedknots.com/ipaddetails.php
  19. I took my selfie stick out in Niagara Falls once, but the Mounties threatened to lock me up if I didn't put it away.....
  20. Honestly I really don't care. I mean I go to Gander maybe once a year and find it underwhelming , I've been to field and stream once, I think I bought some jerky seasoning . For me at 56 I've got everything I need and outside of socks, sprays, and odds and ends the box stores don't carry much of the products I'd want to buy anyway . Hi , " do you carry Filson ? " no." Surefire lights" ? No. " Bark River knives"? No. Ok thanks bye.
  21. Ya well opening day , evening hunt a slob of a buck 15 yards behind me with no clue I'm there. Now in all honesty he never gave me a good shot angle even if it was legal. But I'll say this I'm not im a hurry to hunt again till the 16th. Although I'll try maybe two mornings in stands that are more doe stands away from thick cover.
