I give you points for that, but you picked an easy topic to do it. It was like tossing French fries on the beach , you know the sea gulls are all going to drop out of the sky and peck at each other trying to get a fry.

Prusik is the correct spelling btw it's a last name. I don't really see how it would let your harness "swivel " and not twist up your line. I guess the loop could take a few twists . One could just unclip and straighten out the strap no matter what the system .

Well put me squarely in the idiot collumn as I see speeding as a worse infraction than shooting a few minutes early. It kills people, and the higher fines for speeding ( and increased insurance rates) over shooting early reflect that .

I've said it before , people that hunt to the exact minute are a bit like Bigfoot , Mountain Lions and unicorns, I've read about them but in 40 years of hunting and knowing untold numbers of hunters and hunting with perhaps over 100 different ones , I've never seen one in the woods. I'd like to see how many here are in complete compliance with the SAFE act ...., personally I do not know one who got rid of magazines over ten rounds or registered their rifles and the states numbers back the low numbers of comliance . I guess though the few that did obey are all members here .

In hunting like painting the real time is in the prep work . This bow season perhaps 30 hours in a stand . Gun who knows I got the first two weeks off, I'll hunt for sure but with a buck in the freezer already I'll sleep in when I feel like it .

Just curious what's the significance of 343. It's a number that stands out to me for personal reasons .

My buddy is hunting in Montana right now ( took a buck) so I googled it . Man it's quite a list. https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wdfw/licenses_fees.html

Few years back nice buck rear quartering . Made a good shot but arrow was sticking out a bit , he ran across an open field pretty far so I marked blood and came back in morning. Found him In "the little creek bed" he crashed right there foot up on a wire fence. Turned him over to cut around the vent, and there was the tip of my broard head !! Sticking out his rear end.... I pulled it out had about an inch of arrow on it , gutting him found a few more inches of shaft inside. What I think happened was, nice shot through the boiler room that hit the off shoulder , running he snapped off arrow into two pieces , the head making its way to and coming out his rear end. Entry left side ribs towards off shoulder , exit his ass. More turns the JFK's magic bullet ! Edit I see I was beat to the magic bullet .....

I hang stands where I know the bucks cruise looking for does, sit and wait . Just about each buck I took in bow came in "hot" never looking up or around much, hardest thing is getting them to stop for a second to send and arrow their way. Oh I've used grunts, rattle bags, cans, scents , drags , just not much anymore don't feel I need them in the rut . I much prefer not to have them come in "looking" for something. "Most of the toys are gimmicks. Set up where you think the deer will be, and sooner or later the stars will all line up." The "Can" was first a child's moo cow toy from the '50's primo's took off the cow sticker and slapped on some camo and a deer pic . Tripled the price and sold it to hunters .... Ok it does work for pulling in young bucks. So does this..,,https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CN-SpMpxQUU Save yourself a few bucks buy this for $1.79,,, http://www.discountpartysupplies.com/moo-cans.html?zmam=33473167&zmas=1&zmac=5&zmap=200376000000_fvr4256&gdftrk=gdfV29343_a_7c3014_a_7c9796_a_7c200376000000_fvr4256&gclid=CI6Hh-Wgh8kCFYkjgQodZBsDyQ

Pro cuts is a solid choice , and it's right off of 444, the main route out of Victor . I'm somewhat familiar with that area.....

I'm on board with this guy, he tossed a few softballs and everyone swung with all their might. It's got a few key things guaranted to get folks worked up, he sees the antlers in the moon light, he did not know for sure what it was, he starts a half hour prior, under a full moon, which on Oct 31 was not "full" .

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong
Nomad replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
I'm going down to my spot today ( took a decent buck Sat.) and use my leaf blower to clear 4-5 foot wide path to my one stand that is a 225 walk through the woods ( top stand too). All my other stands are 30 yards or less into, the woods but mostly thickets where it's not much of an issue . -
I don't think he was the " man" of the house.....

I agree Turkey feathers , but consider this. I have hunted with 12ga (mostly pumps) for close to 40 years prior to rifle season here. I like to practice a bit, and it's no fun after a while of that 12ga pump beating my shoulder . My .270 is a joy to shoot plus it slimmer more comfortable package. My accuracy has become more pin point as well.

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong

Two bucks shot on the farm this morning ( 1 mine) and my hunting partner had four bucks and one doe go by in the first two hours. -
The plan was to hunt to 9:00 then for Joe and I to put a new rather large ladder stand as Joe had be leave by 10:30 and I needed help putting it up. Joe went into the thick stuff and saw 4 bucks and 1 doe, while I saw nothing..... Then this guy crossed a large field and entered the woods I'd say 100 west of me around 8:45 or so. A bit later I saw antlers heading my way, I stood up,with bow ready he's coming straight towards me , he passes and at less then ten yards I shoot. Rear quartering but I hit high! No pass through either, he ran a bit than walked off, I heard one snap. 30 minutes later I thought I'd check the blood but figured I'd be coming back in 6 hours to look. Blood was very good an easy track he went about 100 yards. 6 pt, no brow tines. I know not a nice woods picture but I got a kick out of this picture !

That's a black face Explorer II , the Orange gmt hand is known as the Steve McQueen hand, as he wore an early Explorer that had an orange gmt hand. The first watch is a sterile pilots watch on an orange Zulu strap. I rotate watches and straps / bracelets almost daily . I found it funny that my watch that day matched my new gloves and fletching . Perhaps one day Patek Philppe will make a camo watch !

Quality is down because that's what the market wants. A quick look shows that in 1962 a TV costs about $190 or close to two weeks gross pay back then, a Polariod camera $179 you want to,pay a week and a half gross pay for a camera today ? No? then keep buying junk for a couple hundred that does not last .A washer in 1962 was on one ad I found $189 in today's dollars that would be $1500 , so yes a washer for a few hundred is not going to compare. I try to buy quality but I'm one of few. People love my Maui Jim sunglasses , " these are great, what do,they cost like $100?" When I tell them they bulk at it and make do with junk. Re reading Ants post I see he paid a bit more for his stuff, like 1k for the washer but sadly the premise is still true today to,get things that last it costs a bit more $$$ and in some areas you, just can't find the quality you want .

I can't remember the last deer I shot in gun that I did not watch go down, oh Last year one doe, because it was in a corner of a field and I had a small window, but I know my.270 crushed her so I got right down and found it a short distance away. In bow I'd say close to half my deer I watched go down so no waiting , big fan of 2 blade cut on contacts, looks like they don't even feel the hit two just went back to feeding after snapping their heads up . If I know a good double lung hit and it runs out of sight, I sit a half hour. Lesser shots longer sits .

I took that shot for a watch forum, but as you can see it did not come out well. Yes it's generally under my sleeve , other than when it's inside a deer.
