One thing I do is not use a strap that goes all the way around the tree,that makes your camera visable from 360 degrees. When looking for my cameras I realized I often spotted them by seeing the strap from behind. I use a short piece of webbing and tack it to the tree.

I like to think my range is from 21 years old up to late 50's.

This is my friend Rodger who lives in Montana . He killed this in bow a mile and a half from camp, he packed it out in four trips, twelve miles total ...... Yikes !

Back when Creekside was open, on the last two Saturday' of bow it sounded like the Canadiens were invading .

One farmer who's corn butts up to my spot has cut that field and I see others in the area have as well. The farm I hunt has hundreds upon hundreds of acres of beans and just as much corn, I have not seen any of theirs cut yet. Normally they cut beans first by me sometime in early/mid bow season then on to corn which can often be up till gun. Right now my best spots have beans to the east and corn on the west side. The Timothy field is getting hammered right now some really nice bucks in it. As for it being an issue, mixed bag. When i have half mile corn fields by my little 80 acres of woods/ thickets it gives them lots of hiding spaces , once it's cut my thicket is the hiding spot they run to.

That's funny. I'm either adding some more webbing as those seats are pretty comfortable or making a wood top that I can carry in an and out. Avoid droppings and ice that way .

Same here. I have not looked at my work calander to even see when I'm off yet. I have 3 or 4 weeks off from late Oct to Thanksgiving that's when I'll be out most days, early season no idea .

My longest bow kill and shot was 25 yards. Oh sure I shoot well at 40 in my yard, my bow kills all tend to be under 20 and many well under that.

Most falls happen climbing into and out of stands. One needs to be clipped in when starting the climb up and unclipped when back on the ground.

Moved a handful of stands shot my bow maybe 5 or 6 times , oh I hung two cameras a couple weeks ago. Checked them the other day, one was not turned on the other had dead batteries .... So all set!

Thanks Burmjohn, great site. I'm more or less ready , have a few odds and ends yet to do. Not close to excited for season yet though, honestly that'll happen the end of Oct. oh I'll be out a few times early just to keep an eye on things perhaps shoot a doe.

Just make sure your gloves match your purse ! That said I use 'em. I wear them working on people who've been shot so might as well for deer too.

I have many stands " in the thick stuff". About 20 yards in that's it. Walk in along crop field slip in a cut trail and up I go They are wonderful stands some catch deer walking the edge from a southern crop field to a northern even thicker bedding area . Others catch them coming from the west or center of thick stuff to the field I walk in on , an afternoon stand that pays off every year. Basically I only hunt the edge of this 20 acre thicket and only when the wind is right , you really have to be on your toes as you can't spot them ( especially early season ) till they're in bow range . This 20 acre thicket has crops on three sides with the hardwoods on another , there often is no need for them to enter the hardwoods , but I have that covered too.

Life long Webster resident ( except for a few years in the city to get on the job) my family moved here when Lake road was a dirt road. Quite a number of hunters still here even in the swankier neighborhoods , but I understand fully what you say . I always made it a point to hang one in my front yard, you'd be surprised at the chance you get to talk to kids and adults alike about hunting in a positive way because of it . Oh and Welcome !

When my release comes off my wrist it goes right on my bows limb .

Ill be skiing on the Bay and swimming in Lake Ontario this Friday the 25th I love it ! Won't hunt more than a couple days the first two weeks anyways , should be cool by the end of Oct .

Ya start with kitchen sink and work backwards ...... Couple screw in steps. Extra gloves and facemask, (i tend to leave them in other pockets or drop them on way in) Binos. Pack of hunters baby wipes. Snacks and water. First aid pouch ( knives and broadheads tend to be sharp) " survival pouch" fire starter, compass,knife, trash bag , 550 cord flashlight also tags,pens, zip ties go,in this. Ball cap if wearing watch cap, watch cap if wearing ball cap...... Tree stand seat cushion as I don't leave them on stands . And most important Atomic Fireballs!!!! On me at all times. Wallet, cell phone, flashlight tension relief strap, Spyderco knife clipped where I can reach it while hanging by harness ( tested this, harness does ride up and limit access you may have had)

I would never say it's not the safest thing to walk their dogs in hunting season , someone like me would take that as a thinly vailed threat . Myself I'd just hunt , not your land not his. I have two ladies who walk their dogs daily along the boarder of my hunting spot, depending upon what's planted and or harvested in those fields in any given year. I can't say it's really effected my hunting. My spot in Webster dog walkers and walkers in general are a common thing, heck I walk my dog there during the season as well.

Went down to check/ trim posted signs and do a bit of last minute odds and ends. The corn north of my woods is cut already .
