  1. Excellent reads...Have you ever thought of putting these all together and writing a book. between the photos and your writing you could end up with a real hit....Thanks it is an education and adventure in every post...
  2. Dang we never have no wind..I'm in the house, no wind..Lol
  3. Yes indeed...Bless all families, friends, workers and survivors, Also all the people that knew or are related to the shooter and were side swiped by his actions...they don't deserve the fall out.
  4. I call hubs popups as well My Gander hub /popup gets warm though it gets full sun when the leafs aren't on the trees...anyways good luck you are showing some nice critters this year if not a buck perhaps a coyote...
  5. Sometimes a blessing sometimes a curse...those deer could have very well stayed near you to keep an eye of the happenings next door...I had a neighbor that would walk the neighbors lands borders along my border ...every single afternoon ..one day he actually stopped 20 yrds out and waved at me NICE! This was always just at end of day ...after I had sat several hours just waiting for this time....Well that day he waved...big shite eating grin on his face and turned to walk home. As I watched him in disgust out of the briars next to the trail he was on popped a nice 8pt's head...he watched him walk away too...then stepped out and walked right up under my stand..I named that buck after the guy....then when he came down to vote(I was an inspector) I said THANKS!...he never walked by me again...
  6. RIP and thanks for the memories...
  7. I find my popups get pretty hot when the sun hits them...nice on a cold day but 70.....I couldn't do it... Good luck... taking the day off and gee...I have to think hard on tomorrow perhaps Rivers blind or the wooden one..or the new popup tower to see what ids going on in that neck of the woods...though The leafs are so noisy now...I don't want them going nocturnal on me...afternoon hunts would be best...hhhmmmmm
  8. Other than my bow I have to say I love my bobbin head decoy...they company sold and they don't make them like this any more...not sure I have seen any around in a while...I put him and my bobbin head hen out together,It's a riot watching different animals react....I've had some close calls with young buck coming in to him...I coyote yip to scare them off, a good cough works too...Anyways he's getting old and the heavy balance weight has cracked the plastic...but I drilled and did some fancy wiring and he's casually turning his head and swinging his rack up and down again...couple of times I dozed off to have him startle me when I snapped awake over the years....lol He is very noisy to set up so I will do it the night before and I have a big piece of camo material I tie around him...I never spray scent on him but use scent wicks under him.He works great in these lane ways and the small middle plot where they can see him from the ridge and the slashings on the other side...He's a problem in the front field though...cars can see him from either end of the pines...then begins the Oh so slow drive up the hill or stopping getting out of the vehicle. ...by then I'm waving out the blind window...lol
  9. God could ask to shoot my bow and I'd tell him...With all due respect, not even you are not allowed that. My Son 6'3" came in the house and picked up my bow and started to draw...I believe I about laid a rock! He clearly received and understood my displeasure.
  10. Years ago I was against them...then I picked one up at Gander and looked through the scope...I went in to buy a 10.00 card reader and left with a 300+ dollar bow...I hated using it the first few times...It's bulky...now I have shot a few deer with it and dang drops them and crazy fast... All that said...no full inclusion unless it is a bow class and bow tag...I won't change on the full bow certification, period...as far as use...Hell they have it available for the best time in the deer woods now for anyone that wants to buy a muzzle loader tag so why not full inclusion....WITH A FULL BOW CLASS...You know if a person has the certification, maybe just maybe they would give compounds or traditional a try as well.
  11. Oh ya I know what you thought...not...lol Seriously though a good GDTV this week...Well all except the elk hunt..though...great action and I would so love to do just one hunt...I'm talking about the Basspro museum ...Now that I'd go to... http://www.growingdeer.tv/#/bow-hunting-bugling-bull-elk-in-new-mexico http://www.wondersofwildlife.org/
  12. I have my little green target...I take the arrow off walk home and shoot the target...If you are not on your property put one in your trunk and step off the road or parking lot and shoot...
  13. Belo.. Did that bluck have a rack and wings or just a bill and wings...did you quack him in or grunt him in...
  14. http://www.huntriversedge.com/2-man-bowman http://www.basspro.com/shop/en/muddy-prestige-series-2-person-ladder-stand Mind you I'm too cheap to pay that...I would leave the rail down and buy a blind cover for it...
  15. liar liar pants on fire!...LOL..... I've been watching those picture posts
  16. I did it was a great night really....I do feel bad about the neighbors cat though...you could see the desperation in it's run...and I had just pasted it that morning as it came out of the hedge row to the road with a mouse dangling out of it's mouth...I thought GREAT! one less nest in the small JD engine...not even fabric softeners or moth balls stop them now. though I have to say no hunting this morning...my lower back/tail bone is wild sore...I have to ease into this sitting for long periods of time motionless.
  17. I saw this because Dan quoted you...so I'll answer...Because the Kindle demanded it 3x's actually and refused 2 corrections... Though thanks to a damn button I held at full draw until my arm gave...a doe with twins came in fast ,she was pushing the biggest bodied BB I have ever seen and the doe fawn was no slouch either, niether had ANY traces of spotts...This time of year that's unusua.I can normally see some very faint spine spots. Anyways she came in so spooky after him that every time I even shifted she was ears forward rotating and looking my way...I had her broadside 10 yrds for a long but he was 3 yards off my rt. at another apple tree..by the time she got out of hearing distance and he had moved to the next tree over I could draw..I waited until her head was behind a big red maple and I couldn't see him and the other fawn was head down feeding I drew and he spotted me and blew...she stood still ...I held for so dang long my arm just gave out...he blew again going up behind me and she trotted past me. When she was behind the apple trees I drew again but she took a hard rt and there was no shot...man Oh man...were the muscles from my shoulder blade all the way down around the rt rib cage on fire last night...no problem with the shoulder joint, but I had certainly locked those back muscles. Good news...non stop deer action all night...But not morning day shots...That stand stays empty until mid Oct...the apples hold well until mid Nov. .
  18. I found out the hard way how not to cock my crossbow...Always use your forearms..not your back!. I had to shorten the cocking rope sagnificantly. I lock my elbows tight to my side and lift with my fore arms..it protects my shoulder..and back.
  19. I didn't think they made them any more. Ten point had a cross bow stick called Steady Eddie I believe...
  20. Tow rope and . Phone this a.m. Halfway down drive this afternoon...ding,ding,ding...no quiver...
  21. Ps..That was a damn button buck...and Fox chased the neighbors cat...
  22. Lol .....I actually corrected that twice..see it didn't take again
  23. Well everything was perfect....until...a Damon button buck looking his mind...I have to say long story short...some one needs to put an arrow through him!!!!!! Oh and a Fox running the bright rd cat past our barn towards me...They hit the hedge row and I heard a blood curdling meow and silence...I'm guessing who won...Lol...2 cats in 2 bow seasons 1 owl,1 Fox. Makes me wonder how many are taken each year.
