  1. VO... Well they were on sale...the American broad head 85 gr Buckmasters I won...I've never shot 85 gr before...the Carbon express...I really liked the look of design... as far as cutting surface and 100grs...and the spider mechanical....had a few good on line reviews...though I'm really not sure if 51#'s is heavy enough draw for mechanical?
  2. The first thing we noticed was the already fade look they had from the get go...told Mr.b I'd better not forget this one in the wash I'd have nothing but blank paper in the end........Good ole NY printing on the cheap :
  3. Sorry guys ...but I have to laugh...Ahhh this time of year...and not just this bb but many hunting bb....and every year....all I can picture is a beach with a bunch of camo glad hunters( us gals can be as bad) standing around kicking sand in each others faces...Why because season is so close ..we've talked about it and planned it for soooo long ...but for many of us it's still so far away....Gets ya kinda wound tight
  4. Depends on how long they stay....if it's a weeks job or a 2 week job...if starting Oct 1 and if your season starts Oct 16 ...like mine...you really should be fine for most of the season...I'm saying this from experience...with our wood lot...they were here during the first 2 weeks and I had a great season that year...it turned right into a favorite bedding area....
  5. Steve ...try reading that again...I do believe I said ..I use to have my stands 60 or so yards off the line and those guys would come in and stand ..ground hunters...right in front of me on the property line...mind you let me mention it is a 1300 ft line and they choose to line up in front of me...Sooo...I now have my stands right on the line and facing my property...they are safe...I keep them from shooting up at me and I can utilize what I payed for....
  6. See I have a different take on this...first I have a few stands on property lines....2 neighbors I asked if they would have a problem with it...they are built in trees...and explained I would never shoot on their land...now these are there due to a north west wind in hill country...just the best place and tree to put them ...Let me tell you I've had to pass on a few nice deer that just wouldn't cross...So be it...and on others..Well did have stands 60-70 yrds off line...and EVERY year they would pile in and line up on the line directly in front of me ...so I couldn't shoot...same guys that have nearly shot me 3x and daughter 1...by shooting into our property....so I now have 3 stands right on that line ...all facing my land...I pay my taxes and should be able to hunt my land ....now they come in and sit nearly under me...and that is fine...they shoot on to their land ..I on mine....I just happen to go in and set up an 1-2 before light and they come in well after me...NO one had better be ..Tracking" on me because they have my cell #...plus it's on every posted sign and I have all of theirs and I will arrest...no matter who...if I don't get a call...and there better be blood off my land...I expect no less from them in this reguard........
  7. I have a dog house...I'll be setting up this week end.....and I have a chair blind that I loved during turkey season ...but it spooked several deer :-\
  8. I always used Muzzy...but when I started having an impossible time finding the 4blade replacements I decided to start checking out different end of season sales....and different types of broad heads...they all did there job and one surprised me...I can't recall what this was but it was a fixed 100gr cut on that cost me 10.00 for three after season sale...I shot forward and at 20 yrds it went through her shoulder blade and almost out the other side..I refuse to pay 40.00 for blades...I will only shoot a hunting broad head once
  9. 10-20 yrds with most kills in the 15-17 yrd range
  10. Well give me your thoughts...I have been practicing with 100gr field points and this week switch to the broad head elevated practice...I only shoot with 3 arrows...this year I have 3 chooses..all of which I've never shot and how they fly is the deciding factor ..but...I still have to consider a couple of things...one I have always shot 100gr 51# older Hoyt...and never shot mechanical before...I shoot a full length wht tail carbon 40/60 arrow...So what thoughts do you have on these: 1.) Spider 1 1/2" mechanical 100gr 2.) Carbon Express 1 1/8 TriokaST3 100gr fixed 3.)American Broad head 1 1/8 Buckmasters 85gr fixed
  11. For the last few years I've past on some really nice 6's to find they were shot during gun...but they didn't get them all....there is the guy in the pic ...and a a couple of 8's and at least one big 6 around....I have a policy of only one doe take here and as many as I can get tags for down at camp....We have a few seriously huge doe this year so if the weather is cold enough I'll shoot a nice doe...then I'm hoping for a crack at the one below or one of the bigger 8's....last year holding out got me a 2 doe year...but great shots...hunts...and meals
  12. Opps meant to say Tractor Supply..... And too many ppl putting out too many scents it just spooks the deer around here ...that being said though....our goat urine...buck/doe both and buck rags....The deer hang around the barn....rags soaked in hazel nut oil
  13. Erussel...I know what your saying...some ag companies are the same...ie...Trophy rock....wouldn't sell it because it was illegal...so the company wised up and is now packaging the same "trophy Rock" as a" Equine "mineral lick...with horses all over the display...Ha hahaha ...not too transparent
  14. Dang thats a tank!.....and comfy looking too....have a great time hunting it
  15. Burmjohn...they love the buckwheat here as well.....looks like it got some seed so it may re germinate ...if not you'll get some volunteer buckwheat next year...I planted soybeans and divided it into two separate plots...for 1 acre total.....It was the volunteer buckwheat that kept the deer from destroying the bean fieldhaving a mix of perrenial plots near annual ones is always a good plan and planting spring buckwheat ...you can't go wrong...makes the fall planting so easy....... year around food
  16. Nice little group of "Jakes" you have there...good looking bird too..
  17. Took these yesterday afternoon........
  18. Hey Doc no disclaimers needed as far as I'm concerned!...If they can't get woman hunters on these shows that look like real woman hunters they shouldn't be there! I can tell ya in my younger years ...many less grey in hair and material in my clothes : ....I still didn't look so hot at 4am ...having showered in no scent ... several layers of camo ...bandanna holding hair and hunting boots on...headed out the door ....then after the shot ...up to my elbows in blood from gutting the deer and then dragging it out...I never had to have some guy walk me through the woods to my stand and tell me when and what to shoot....good god what a joke...........
  19. I usually disc in my buckwheat...I'd go with a winter rye...tritical...or winter wheat right now
  20. the beans are just soybeans and the turnips are purple top and Appin mixed...as of yesterday they are about 9 inches high....Dad in-law called tonight...50ft off the drive he spotted a low wide racked 8pt trying to cross over to the house side of road....he was coming off that plot...which is where I spotted a huge doe standing infront of my stand on.........
  21. Heres a doe coming into the mulberry tree I had the camera on....plot of turnips/beans in the back
  22. We get so many deer tags for our area...usually 4 each ...I get the extras for just this reason...but usually it's to put down gut shot or wounded fawn that make it to our property ...I have to do this way too many times....if it's brown and RUNNING...it's getting shot at around here iggits > ....but I have gotten tags for a couple of buck I had to put down one was a 7pt...one of his ribs was sticking straight up between his shoulder blades and he had gangrene...thought at first it was an arrow...but he'd been hit by a car..took him into Avon office..got a new tag
  23. all the trees on our land for the deer are wild ...I take the young ones and move them to better places...alot of variety from red to green and big and sweet to small and tart...early and late but few this year as compared to others and falling way early...acorns and beech have been dropping for weeks now.....
