    cabin, it's amazing how some deer like brassica and some don't? It's too late to plant them anyway. Don't waste your money on the buckwheat for a fall planting. Plant BW in May. Do you plan on keeping the 1/4 acre plot in annuals?

    thats a blanket statement.....are there people who plant for that one reason? sure....there are also people who are in to habitat managment and food plots are part of the equation.

    If you plan on planting it back in corn next May I would plant winter rye. WR will give you some free Nitrogen which corn needs.

    This time of year its tuff to judge the age. If i don't have history with the buck I usually add one year to what i think he looks like during spring/summer. He will look very different come fall. I don't totally see him to be 3 in that picture but he probably is.

    depending on what food you have available it will be a draw October-spring green up.

    1. Clover 2. Soybeans 3. Brassica 4. Corn I always have food standing for the winter months and have food available come spring.

    I must be the worst hunter in the world because I plant 20 acres of foodplots and never shot a mature buck over any one of them. I suck at baiting! Maybe if I put one of those deer xing signs next to my food plots I will get them to cross there?

    Mike, I wish my apples looked like yours! I also wish my food plots looled like yours. my plots this year are terrible. I got too much rain! fields flooded this year.
