  1. A thread on "missed shots" that stick in your craw would be good. I have some I could add to that............
  2. One of the first thoughts is who's helping with the drag? That thought is usually answered with deafening silence. Next thought; where's the closest 'wheeler? If that isn't met with a positive response I shrug my shoulders, peel off as many top layers of clothing as possible and get to gutting. THEN I start the drag...... (the prayers and good thought happen also but that's between me and the Lord)
  3. Is it hanging from a helicopter? That'd work...
  4. Never said I didnt use them. It ain't like ordering a pizza......these guys are just regular guys who probably have families, jobs and might enjoy a little hunting too. They don't have a "set" response time and this is their busy season. Lots of Happy Day Wangers are out plugging holes in deer; some get found, some don't. I don't know how many volunteers in the Deer Search network but it ain't many in the big skeem of things. I'm sure there are guys out there that would take any old dog out and try it but beware, that ain't legal and could get a guy in a heap of trouble and they may even loose their right to vote.
  5. I'm guessing they're schedule right now is akin to Walmart on 12/24.............I wouldn't hold my breath.
  6. I feel brother........ My bigger problem is that although I killed a buck two weeks ago I still haven't see a doe from the stand, that's right ZERO doe for the season. Had two other bucks in range this year and a few I could have killed with a gun.
  7. Saw one buck this morning from stand, no doe. Pulled two cards and had the bear during daylight hours on Tuesday He's bigger than I thought!! I got back in at 3:00..........wind isn't ideal for this sit but it'll do.
  8. I think he's cool as all get out.......... Cork 'em!
  9. Those spurs are bigger in the flesh than that angle shows. Due to lighting issues and an Iphone, that's the best I could muster. A few other sets were lost here and there and of course the one and only spring gobbler I have mounted is in the Buffalo Gun Center on darn near permanent loan. (my wife says NFW is that coming back HERE)
  10. Great going Larry! We'll need more information on the day at your convenience.
  11. I shot my buck two weeks ago in 30mph winds...........
  12. You're on the board! Congrats on the very nice deer.
  13. Oh yea.......it isn't the first or sure as balls won't be the last thing left on a tailgate, roof of car etc to go skidding off into never never land. I always freak out when I see some unsuspecting bloke cruising down the road with his tailgate down and his sharp truck is sporting a tonneau cover of fiberglass topper. Most haven't a clue that all their high dollar tools and sporting equipment are sliding out.........uggh.
  14. I hope it turns up. Lord knows it could have slid off into a ditch or someone picked it up but doesn't know who it belonged to. (I know my name and number aren't on my bow!!) I'd be looking to hang a freebie on Craigslist ASAP under "lost & found". Luck to your bud......
  15. "Field Tips" are a little misleading of a name for their application. They're the last thing I'd be walking around with and plinking........
  16. If he is small game hunting, that dude is gonna be pizzed off when he realizes he lost his back tag.
  17. Advice from a skeptic. I'd like to think I'm rarely duped into buying into a bill of goods........why waste $500/year (I know it's $40 a month but I round up for easy math) on crap you probably don't need and won't use? 10 years=$5,000 20 years=$10,000 Maybe a little exaggeration but time flies when your having fun.
  18. Heck Matt, if I'd have known I would have sent you one of mine. All spring birds........I put this together a bunch of years ago and only add to it every few years after the spurs dry out enough to hog out the marrow. Stinks even when dry..............They hang with pride in my basement stairway. Congrats again on your successful hunt.
  19. Yes, choose your bullet per barrel twist then start messing with suggested powder volumes. IIRC with real black-powder it's volume-not weight?
  20. It is very strange that that buck wasn't recovered PDQ.......... Like someone else said "what broadhead are you using?" Also, what Deer Search volunteer were you using to do your search?
  21. I bought a T.R.U. Ball release in 1999 (my first release) then since I liked it so much I picked up a second one from uncle a year later to have as a backup. Both are wrist strap models although one is more like a glove?? Neither one has EVER failed me although I've had to sew up the strap on my #1 unit a few times. Very well made pieces IMO...........
  22. Lawdwaz

    Almost..

The silence isn't a good sign.
