Saw some bear scat Saturday afternoon just north of (200 yards) Holmes Rd. If you do kill one, you call me ASAP. Oh, and it was NOT the same area that I saw the bear in this thread. I was north about 5 miles.

If you have hunted out of the US since 2002
Lawdwaz replied to Dinsdale's topic in Out of New York Hunting
I'll pass this to a couple folks I know that have hunted outside of the US since '02. Thanks for the heads-up. -
I think more survive than die from what I've seen. The slice of an arrow (and not at all to diminish it) would be easier to recover from than the damage from a CF bullet or deer slug. I'll pass on being the guinea pig on either one though..... Guts, liver etc are for sure dead deer but some other non vital areas I think can be survivable.

If Gman was the trigger man (and I assume he was) I know he has killed at least one other bear, almost a self defense situation. It's a great story if someone can dredge it up............

Saturday morning I had my first ever NYS bear sighting. I was on stand and around 8:30am I looked behind me and spotted a black bear about 40 yards away. I grabbed my bow and spun around, hoping he'd turn and come my way. He was going west and I was a touch to the south of him. No dice, he got nervous; possibly winding my tracks where I came in. He went back the way I assume he came..........It was quite a thrill, maybe only about 150 lbs but a very cool experience.

I'm sure your brother would give you credit for all you've taught him. Congrats to him and hopefully you have a story and pics coming from Ohio. Good job Joe!

I wish you well and hope the docs get to the bottom of it PDQ.

I recovered one about 30 years ago and it'd make for a great story if I was on my laptop and not my rinky dink phone. Best of luck to you.

Nothing and I mean NOTHING compares to Hello Dollies. MY grandma used to make them and they were unreal. My sister does a heck of a bang up jump on them too. In a pinch, Dash's makes some that'll knock your socks off.......trust me.

I just scanned this really quick but it appears you omitted the chocolate chips. Must have been a typo?

Good stuff bizzy, your pops looks like a pretty happy guy. Do you have any siblings?? My father will be 77 in December. He hasn't killed as many nice bucks or bucks in general as your father but he's had a good time, no doubt.

I don't have this book but a good friend of mine swears by it. http://www.richardpsmith.com/book-twd.php

You just saved me a write-up in the NYOutdoor News, a hefty fine and a HUGE blemish on my stellar record.

I have some good ones you may be interested in. I'd be happy to let you read any you want. I have a few from Capstick that will thrill you to no end on African hunting. Gene Wensel's "One Man's Whitetail", Dan Bertalan's "Bowhunting's Whitetail Masters", Roger Rothhaar's "In Pursuit Of Trophy Whitetails", Ted Kerasote "Bloodties", David Petersen's "Racks" or "A Hunter's Heart" plus a few other older books from John Wooter's and Ted Trueblood. I can toss 'em over the fence if you'd like.

Well that's a heck of hunt! Nice to punch a fall bird tag; I've only done it once in all my years. Actually that would be one in NYS, I did kill a hen in Texas December of 1982 on a deer hunt also. I've always just been interested in bow hunting for deer in the fall or some duck hunting. Maybe I'll tote the scattergun this weekend as I've already got a buck at this point. Congrats TF, he'll be good eating!
