  1. You'd be better off hitting your thump with a framing hammer than arguing with stubby.
  2. Don't believe it. I'll need pics.............................. Oh.........2012taco has made a pile of your jalapeno bites of late. All I've sampled have been dynamite!
  3. Wow...........gonna need a little more information to sell this beauty.
  4. Pretty tough to signal for help with a map and compass if you bust a leg......
  5. If you're going to insist on crossing those fields, at least you're doing it safely.
  6. Keep us posted on any guns you'll need to sell to fund the "Cash Vacuum" called college. And, congrats to the young lady!
  7. I usually keep the butt stock sleeve loaded with 5 when I leave the truck; 3 go in the magazine, one up the spout and one still in the sleeve. Three to 5 loose shells in my pockets round out the stockpile. The reason I only keep one in the sleeve while loaded up is because I've been known to shoot my lefty bolt guns right handed in a pinch. What's a "pinch" you ask? Well that would be the occasional time when a deer shows up in the wrong place and the best rest I have is via a right handed hold. The only problem is that the ammo sleeve is right on my cheek and I guess could play havoc with my teeth in a worst case scenario.......I know it's a stretch but if there are 3, 4, 5 or 6 in the sleeve it could be more of a problem than just one set near the rear of the sleeve. Note ammo sleeve in the first pic.......only one cartridge because the chamber and spout are still loaded after following up after the shot. In this picture you can see the ammo sleeve has more cartridges and the bolt is open and back, cause it's unloaded. My pants and coat pocket had a 3-4 shells in them, in case (as seen above) I peeled my jacket off to follow up a wounded deer. 8-9 is hopefully enough to close the deal on a wounded one.......been many years since I've had THAT rodeo. Last I remember was probably 30 years ago while toting the smoothbore Remington 870. Thankfully it was a moonlit night with a 6" of snow on the ground.......damn near started the woods on fire with all the fire coming out of my barrel that night.
  8. Looks like he visited yesterday morning at 6:47am........hopefully he's having a HUGE birthday bash right now.
  9. Good stuff! Funny thing though (and true) is that I've got my eyes closed when I'm in the john as I'm afraid I'm going to chisel a hole in the darned urinal..............can't read graffiti with your blinkers shut.
  10. I think people get excited because these "mountain lion" threads invariably go down the road of thought that the New York State DEC has released them to assist in controlling the deer population. The only thing missing from this picture is the DEC radio collar..........
  11. I love it when a "birthday" stretches into multiple days, even weeks.
  12. OK ATbuckhunter, this is for you. I've used the Barnes 80gr TTSX in my .243 for 3-4 years now. The first deer I killed with it was also from PA, a nice adult doe. I shot her at (IIRC) 235 yards, head on. There were only a few minutes of shooting time left in the day and that differs from NYS in that they let you hunt till 30 minutes PAST sunset. The sky was overcast and that didn't help. I was sure of my target though and set the crosshairs on her chest and took the shot. She disappeared at the shot......by the time I got down to her it was dark. I field dressed her on the spot. After she was hung, I looked her over and couldn't find a exit hole. Being a head on shot and a dead right there kill I had no complaint. I butchered her as usual and figured the bullet was stuck in the gut pile left in the bush. Late that winter I was cutting up a roast for a goulash meal and came upon THIS: So I guess this time the Barnes TTSX FAILED since it didn't exit. 100% weight retention.........it's in the basement along with a handful of other recovered bullets from ML'r, slug gun and rifles. Might even be able to find a flattened BB from my Crossman 760 if I look hard enough............ Apologies for re-posting the same tired old pics and story for those that have seen it here.
  13. WOW...........225 is a HUGE buck. That IS dressed right? It barely looks like the same buck.......looks smaller in the trail cam pic.
  14. Glad you have a sense of humor! Barnes makes some great bullets, I've been using them for 20+ years.
  15. That, my little grasshopper is the point. The bullet did it's job and exited the deer, leaving dramatic damage and two holes to leak. The bullet is stuffed in a grassy lane in north central PA resting after completing the mission.
  16. Avoid plowed fields at ALL costs fasteddie..........
  17. Here's a picture of the 80gr Barnes TTSX from the buck I killed on Monday: .
  18. Thanks wooly and all others....... I ALMOST hit a nice big doe this morning on Harris Hill Rd. Exactly what I DON'T want........
  19. Happy Birthday Al. Did you do anything special to celebrate??
  20. I had a Special Package that needed to be hand delivered to Pygmy. Along with the "SP", I had something else to deliver to Dan, it was a pair of binos that I found between the front seats of the car we bought from Dan's lady friend. Sunday while I was traveling down to PA I stopped and made the delivery. Dan, The Mermaid and myself had a nice visit. Then, before I left we had a toast to all our Hunting NY.com friends.
