Boy I bought two a few yrs ago, man they were bad. They took 4 c batteries that would barely last a week. I had to go buy rechargeable batteries, I couldn't afford new batteries every week. Both died after a yr or two. This summer I picked u a bushnell for $120 and haven't replaced the batteries yet, amazing!!

Was Santa in a hunting mood?
Zag replied to growalot's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Nothing exciting here, but I did buy a new truck in Sept and did pick up a 55inch tv on thanksgiving for our new addition that's starting as soon as the weather warms up a tad. -
U said it grow about beech. Our property was logged back in the late 80's and now 5 to 10 acres is overgrown in beech. Its going to be a big task fixing it. The last week of muzz I walked around that beech stand and that was the only place on the property with no deer tracks. There are hundreds/maybe even thousands of small diameter beech saplings. Its gonna take a lot of time to fix but I may have an awesome solutions that's in the works right now!! Its a long shot but some barriers might be broken!!

MERRY XMASS everyone!!!!!!!

I got a field and stream at dicks for like 120 bucks and was just fine.

Im up in the air on what to plant this spring/summer. I had clover, alfalfa and chicory almost 5yrs. This past summer it was more weeds than anything so we cleared it out and started over and tried brassicas and turnips again. And again the deer wouldn't let it grow over a few inches and by mid Oct it was about all gone so im going perennial of some type. Most of my focus will be on bedding enhancements and tree planting & forester management plan. Now I just need extra time!!

Anyone in my area that wants to join nwtf let me know our banquets coming up in march, I believe its $10 a bag and we will have a limited amount. Growalot I have planted a pheasants forever blend of corn, buckwheat, sunflowers and sorghums and the buckwheat gives it a jump start and haven't had any issues with weeds.

Come on guy's no vote for I want a hippopotamus for xmass.. that song makes me want to pull my hair out. This yr ive been into Silver and Gold, and dolly and Kenny.

I agree with most of that and appreciate the advice. The sanctuary wouldn't be completely off limits from hunting. But if you have 10 acres of great bedding I would say it makes the woods surrounding it better especially during the rut phase. I'll have to really take a hard look at the land (its a new piece) this winter to really see what we have.

Who has them, do you find value in having them? How many acres are they? Did you enhance them? Im looking to expand on a current bedding area inside our 45 acres parcel that's pretty much only going to be used for hunting.

Wow good for him!!

Hmmmm... tree stands, guns, ground blinds, deff more t cams but most of all... my hot wife is a Santa nighty!! Way better than any hunting thing.

I saw it too, a lot on money was blowing out the back of something!! I kept wondering when it would stop!!

Bow was fine, passed a lot up. Gun I've seen one buck and have had only two opportunities at doe's. Its deff been a frustrating gun season. If I were to take a pole from people ive talked to it would be about 50-50 on success vs not seeing much.

RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love to see more pics, but from this one id say 120-130ish. Nice buck!!

Call me a $#%@& but I passed on this am. Its only the 2nd time I passed on a hunt this yr. The first was one was due to the freaking wind we've been having. So far the farmers almanac is spot on.

If not you will get ur hands on them this spring!!

Deff a great option, we did it and it has a ton of value. We did most of it during the winter which provided a ton of tree tops for them to eat, plus I found 4 sheds the first yr around the tree tops. Has anyone done any prescribed burns?
