I thought you were a God fearing man. Did you convert to Islam?

it's not like I stopped hunting. It's all relative to what you're used to. I know a bunch of southern hunters who wont even go out if it's below 40... too cold lol.

oxford is really a beautiful area. 1k of acres of public land just 20 minutes away. Nice college/family town and deer season is 10/1 through mid January. But yeah... the creepiest thing was the first night bowhunt I had where all the trees were glittery on my headlamp. Upon closer inspection there was some massive spider hatch that day. Noped it right out of there

it is an odd woods when you know there are things that can kill YOU. Worst i had was a cottonmouth go scurrying in front of me to a pond... which was good because they're know to chase you.

Cheap Predator Setup?
Five Seasons replied to Five Seasons's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
seems like zoomable is cheaper. which seems odd as that would be a preference no? https://www.amazon.com/VASTFIRE-Zoomable-Flashlight-Predator-Picatinny/dp/B07DPNPR4D/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=scope+mount+light'&qid=1578072813&sr=8-2 -

Cheap Predator Setup?
Five Seasons replied to Five Seasons's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
seems a lot more reasonable for entry level, although I'm sure it's a "get what you pay for" kind of thing. Some of these are barrel mount. I think I'd prefer scope, agreed? -

also curious if you guys prefer spotllight or headlamp and do you need one in addition to your rifle mount. assuming yes but wanted to ask. -

man those wicked lights aren't cheap haha. is the tri-color worth it? what disadvantage to just having red? -
I feel like I ask something like this every year as deer season fades. Not including the gun, What's it take to get a rig going as far as light and caller. I have a good feel for the entry level callers and I know electronic isn't required either, but what about lights? What do you guys do with the carcass?

still use my browning gold edition 12 gauge when i hunt monroe or onondaga. But man do I love how light my rifle is for wayne county. I really dont have a shot past 100 where I need the distance of the rifle, but appreciate it's power and weight. Funny enough in Tully valley is where I test the limitations of my shotgun and could use the rifle the most, if not for range but hiking up that damn valley lol

lol my first observation

I was nervous moving from wayne to monroe. this was about 4 years ago now. Both counties websites were confusing on what the proper process was and this is when i learned how messed up our state system is. Anyhow, what ended up happening was wayne informed me there was no reason or law required for me to re-apply or whatever in monroe but that they would change my address on my current permit and i think I paid like $5 for a reprint. I went through the renewal in 18 and it was all approved, so I assume it's good. If this isn't kosher hopefully somebody doesn't track me down now lol. but thought i'd share.

2 50g pellets of triple 7 powder and shockwave sabot bullets. The shockwave made much better groups than the powerbelts. I think i have an optima v1?

happy new year to everyone buy lawdawz. Because he intimidates me and is scary.

Five Seasons replied to fasteddie's topic in Deer Hunting
So last friday I did some squirrel hunting. I hiked about 45 minutes and didn't see any of the thousand squirrels from deer season and decided to pop a squat near one of our stands. I'm wearing some camo, but no scent control or any real cares, just sitting there on the ground with my back to a tree when I see a deer coming out of the pines. Oh sweet I think. Now I realize it's not just any deer but a buck, and then realize he's a decent 2.5 year old. He eventually hits my scent cone at 15 yards broadside (it's kind of cool you can pinpoint the moment he hits the scent). As some of you I never had a shooter in range in dozens of sits this year. Sometimes you just have to laugh and be happy he survived as he'll be a wall hanger next year it's a cell video so might be easier to see launched in youtube.- 9790 replies

woah. heard beaver (haha) wasn't great do to the oil/stink gland, but the tail was decent? thoughts?
-
I agree with the hair part too for sure. I also find that if you bring a large ziploc with you that by the time you're done with a quick skinning the surrounding squirrels are back out after the gun shot noise wears off. Some field wipes and you're good to go again.

spring for archery is almost unheard of, that's awesome. I think many do it on the side, so the wait is really just them getting around to it.

that's a bummer, but the family part is really all that matters in the end. And sounds like you may be on to the start of a great Christmas tradition!
