  2. i carry my kimber 1911 chambered in .45 when i bear hunt and scout. Not because i think it's ideal but because it's the biggest i have lol. I'm also not sure I could justify a larger chambered pistol that had a barrel short enough to comfortably carry with all my gear and climber. I am looking for a nice .44 mag, but it would have a nice long barrel on it and I still would probably cc my .45.
  3. i read this story. There's a little more to it. They provided a place for those to go who didn't want to walk out (gym). This kids issue was that he didn't want to pick a side, which is noble. The school states that their issue was him refusing to go "somewhere" and then being left unsupervised. I can see both sides. The irony is that the kid wanted to stay in school to do classwork and now has one day out of school suspension. way to go education! lol.
  4. yeah, my point is that teaching to protest is good and very American. Guiding the beliefs of youth is something teachers sort of have ingrained in their DNA. It's really not their fault, but we do need to do a better job ensuring our teachers understand that their job is to educate and grow our children, but not to instill values. On the flip side, not enough parents are instilling values and that is not helping our country either.
  5. in less exciting news, scentlock bogo socks! lol https://www.scentlok.com/shop/weekly-specials/?mc_cid=a80258f70a&mc_eid=045e74ee96
  6. Pretty sure I’ve seen that lol Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I’ve been thinking about it too but am not as ambitious and thinking guided. What kind of shape are you in now? I work out at least 4 days a week and wouldn’t dare go in my pretty fit current state lol. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. pretty shitty water rat. Guy was a brilliant mind suffering from a horrible condition. but I guess I shouldn't expect much less from you as a followup to your woman's day post.
  9. there has been a big effort on education for a while now. Started with bush's no child left behind act and now some of the controversial "free college" stuff. It's a cultural problem in my opinion. devos isn't helping lol.
  10. numbers were smaller than the media portrays of course. I might have worn my nra hat to school if i was a student lol. I also believe that the students planned the rally and the school districts "organized it" so that it remained peaceful and not disruptive. I'm ok with that. It was going to happen anyhow. Many schools also only had memorial or remembrance days, not protest. Again the media skewing things as usual. not really sure anyone funded anything either? If my kids were old enough i would make it a point as their parent (like most should) to explain what is going on and why. That's maybe the failure.
  11. nothing stopping anyone from doing that. Remember the marches on Albany after the safe act? I do. My point again is that despite what the protest is over and whether we agree or not, we should continue to support the right and freedom to do so. Take that away and we're all doomed.
  12. But you do agree that we all have the right to peacefully protest? There were examples of students who didn't peacefully protest. There are plenty examples recently of liberals not allowing conservatives to hold rallies (antifa and what not), but deep down... you do understand my point right?
  13. So i just read this thread and it's actually one of the more lighthearted harmless threads we've had. You wanna see fun? Go into a crossbow or AR thread. I think someone is confused about the mental state of outdoorsman in late winter when there is still 8 inches of snow on the ground and all he wants to to do is go for a hike.
  14. even as a very pro gun guy, I sort of like the idea of teaching peaceful protest. Educating our children on their rights and actions that they can take in this free country. That to peacefully assemble and protest is just as american as owning a shotgun. Nothing wrong with some civic pride and engagement to start finally holding Washington accountable for bull shit.
  15. not at first haha. but wow.
  16. dicks is publicly traded. the stock owners are the owners. the ceo only reports to the board.
  17. so do you think he was dead on his feet or died some time later, possibly even later in the year?
  18. no i don't think so. This is like any gun or controversial policy. It's very hard to push through but once through almost impossible to reverse. I don't ever see anything changing with the safe act. It's why i can sympothize with the "dont give an inch" crowd.
  19. there are websites where you can trade gift cards, but i've never done it. I know pawn shops will take them too but not for face value.
  20. The company's CEO also said recent changes to its firearm policies, ending the sale of guns to anyone under 21, will hurt future sales and may cause fewer shoppers to come to its stores. interesting... because i don't think that was their tone iirc when they announced it.
  21. stopping harry high school from grabbing his dad's gun is ON US. if you have kids or teens in your home, ESPECIALLY troubled teens then you need your guns locked up. Hell, even without kids your guns should be locked up. Your house gets robbed when you're not home and that's more illegal guns on the streets. But to your point, that's why i think this was more to shut people up then it ever was about preventing violence. It doesn't change much, but some groups will feel like their voice was heard. Still the shame here is on law enforcement and the fbi.
