Do you shoot 100 grain or 125 grain broadheads and why?
Doewhacker replied to burmjohn's topic in Bow Hunting
Ahhhh gotcha, In my opinion its better to have an arrow go only halfway through and stay in so that the BH works as a blender inside as the deer runs off there by resulting in a faster kill. I shoot 70# cause I like it, plain and simple..haha -

"The parameters I'm talking about are compound bow hunting from a stand/bilnd, basic broadside/standing deer and the typical +/-20yd shots" Yes now slide the parameters out a bit farther and the heavier arrow wins. Plus myself, I shoot 70# at a 29inch draw so a little heavier is the better all around performer. Also, I came from shooting aluminum and some guys still do, they run heavier than even the heaviest carbon aroow on the market. -
I thought you already said you were leaving before? Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

And thats why we have sick days....lol My old boss, who was also a hunter, called me one night and told me to stay out and go hunting the next day,I didn't listen but I did get out early and shoot buck the next evening. Best boss ever!

37 bucks sure is tempting, eddie were you there to get some fresh depends or maybe tennis balls for your walker when you got lost and found this deal? Can you go back and buy me one, I dont own one and I would love to use it to keep track of my employees when Im not there. I could time their breaks and catch them standing around on their cell phones screwing around on the internet...oh wait thats me! lol

Yes that means that they are illegal. You can't expect the DEC to come out with a ruling on every single BH on the market, they set the rules in black and white and it is up to us to follow and figure them out. If you use them and they work 99 out of 100 times and they malfunction on that one last shot and its in a deer that would mean they are illegal. Simpliest thing to do is not use them seeing how there are dozens of other BH's that work just as well if not better that are absoloutley leagal. It seems like a complete waste of time to worry about this kind of thing.

I'm guessing that some guys couldn't make a good shot at anything over 25 yards in their back yards at a foam target. There are also probaly plenty of guys that shoot thousands of arrows a year at long ranges cause its fun and would be fully capable of making this type of shot, now add in to that a guy that has lots of experience at shooting game like the one on the TV show and you get a higher percentage shot than you think. Would I try it on a deer, no, can I kill the hell out of a target and most deer I shoot at, yes. Its all about taking a good shot that you are comfortable with, weather its 10 yards or 70 it doesnt matter.

75gr for me, but I shoot a heavier arrow so it works well for me. -
Wait a sec, your not supposed to cut that part open? I'm kill my father for teaching me that! That was like a perfect storm of nasty, and the hell was unleashed. lol
-
I fixed that for you, oh did I mention you had the option of doing the truffle shuffle? opps must have slipped my mind, ah well you are in any way. Welcome to the brotherhood. lol
-
Yes but it is fun to practice shot's from a long range, and as Doc say's, there is something about the flight path of an arrow that is neat.
-
Do you have a level on your sight? That will cure the problem if you don't have one, the tiniest tilt will have you off by alot at long range. My sight has tiny .10 size pins for 50 and 60, works great.
