  1. Well you know those bags of feed are hard to open, that can be hard work! lol Sickening aint it.
  2. Very cool, have a good safe trip aswell.
  3. Chufa? Sounds like a dirty word. lol
  4. There are going to be others with far more expertise here but, I shoot 90 grains of Black powder and a 385gr Hornady Greatplains Bullet. I am good to 100 yards with open sites and a gun like your's. That load for sure will do a number on deer.
  5. It reads, Congradulations, you gave a grand and we gave you this piece of plastic, and has a pic of a guy giving you the finger. lol
  6. That sounds like our one spot, we see no one in the steep spots which is nice. Consequently, that is where my brothers big bucks come from.
  7. Lets see, we only have about 6 stands between four of us and only use them in select spots. Ground hunt alot, still hunt alot, stand hunt a little. As far as total acres we hunt, @400-500 in one place,+150 in another +100 (stateland)+30 in a small lot+30small lot by the house+? I dont know, a bunch, lol. Don't own any of it but get permission by helping out and long standing relationships. We share the hunting with others in just about all of the spots. We use the stands pretty much in one 150 acre place and have the sets close together due to the thickness of the place. The thickness and varying winds are why we use the stands there to begin with, makes life a bit easier. It is by far the thickest peice of woods we hunt and the deer love it.
  8. Hey there, we hunt in Leeds not far from you.
  9. Yup deer farms are ok to sell their meat, at a smaller stand like that they may very well be selling wild game and with the proper permits it is ok. There is a noticable difference from deer farms to wild game as far as taste.
  10. Looks to be close to a 20 something inch wide 8? Very nice semetric's on him. He would make a hell of a mount.
  11. "you my friend r a sheep.... for others out there who do realize that this is a possible threat that might just one day come true and would stand up to any type of nonsense like this i applaud you. ask any Texan what he would do if Hypothetically he woke up one morning and his right to hunt was takin away, i really doubt his answer would be to go for a walk in the woods to watch birds! and as far as Doe's opinion on hunting being a "PRIVILEGE"(learn to spell DOE) i say poo to u on that too! just because your government tells you something is a privilege doesnt mean it so....you will always have the right to hunt and feed yourself as an American! hunting a privilege, yea right just like your your privilege to be taxed to death here in NY " blah blah, shut up drama queen. Go take another picture of yourself with your Monica Lewinsky cap on in front of a mirror, freakin troll... And seriously, you are trying to play word poilice on me? lol
  12. And to answer Bubba's question, I too would get some cows and chickens to eat, our next house will have land with it to do just that, once we find one we like that is.
  13. "gotta agree with this chap, when they "attempt" to take away my right to hunt imma gonna get real ugly," Two things, one its a privlage not a right to hunt, two, you already are ugly and I can't see you getting uglier. Bubba, my thoughts exactly, highschool drama at its best.
  14. We have eaten up to 3 in just my house, and that is gone by summer. So we could eat easily 4 or 5 with no problem. Typically we hunt as a party and divy up the take, some years we don't though if we encounter a good year as there is no need. We LOVE venison as a family.
  15. Wow two guess's and someone got it, great job guys! He is a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, we got pick of the litter. Not bad considering there was a two year waiting list to get a dog from this litter and I didn't know about the litter until the breeder who is a new buddy told me about it in early June. The woman who is the breeder wants to possibly show him and if he turns out really good, breed him, which would mean he might pay for himself some day. I can't wait to start training another pup! Gus is doing great by the way, he had a blast pointing and chasing sea gulls and sea ducks in Maine, that was real funny to watch, haha.
  16. Nice grab! knowing you the guy gave it to you for $7.00 and a beer..lol
  17. No, but a relative. Good guess! Gus is a Wirehair though.
  18. and another pic of him with his new pal Gus.
  19. So we made it home Friday from our trip to Acadia and then my wife and I piled into the car for a 3 hour ride to Canada to pick up our new puppy. He is named Lucic (pronounced Lou-cheech), after the Bruins player. I finally agreed to get another dog but made the deal that if the Bruins won the cup I would get to name him. ;D Can you guess the breed?
  20. Well we made it just fine, 10 hrs up and 10 back. We all had a great time and left wanting to go back in a few years. p.s. I ate 5 Lobsters, fried clams and fresh Haddock and it all was good. ;D
  21. I have yet to see one in the woods, there was one hit on the thru way close to our spot last year. Its just a matter of time, bears really have made a come back in NY.
  22. What I get out of the DNA reports is this, it links it to the South Dakotas, that does not mean it came all the way from there. That could simply mean it is related to those from that area, seeing how the farthest one ever traveled before was 640 miles I would think that this one came from the Minnesota/Wisconsin area which is about 1000 miles.
  23. Geno has stands on 6 of those trees and his buddy on the 7th. They've got the Island covered pretty good. yea, plus you can shoot from one side to the other, how hard can it be? lol
