    Ah yes the crazy fringe come out in full support of shooting dogs and are quick to label small game hunters as trespassing lawbreakers. Classic thread turned into nonsense right here. If some whack job shot my dogs while I was minding my own business hunting small game I would shoot back in self defense.

    My 70yr old father shot this 4 in 4F today while still hunting. Wish I was there but the pic and story are good enough for me.

    The combo of wind and heavy snow was all it took to take down the Turkey pen and dang near part of the chicken pen yesterday, thankfully all the birds were put in and were safe. Amazingly we did not loose power. It was worse last night and I am glad I wasn't out hunting in it.

    Just a guess but, high hit one lung and clipped the spine enough to knock it down also high mussel hits bleed like that. How are you onto your second buck?

    My very first buck with the bow way back @23 years ago when I was 14 I hit in damn near the same spot. I did everything wrong but still came home with him and the memory of what I did wrong. Mine was shot while he was walking and I dropped my arm bad, it was an instant sick feeling followed by elation when he fell over 50 yards away. As my dad would call it "$hit house luck".

    Stone The only cure I found was shooting more deer.

    Congrats and...That's the third high hit this year right? Bury the @&%% pin next time, you are a way better shot than that stone. PS my freezer is still void of venison and I'd be tickled with a not so perfect quick kill shot. Lol

    Fresh from the back yard, I swear I bounced it off the shooting bench when I dropped it. If you look you can see the blood spot where it hit.

    Here are some facts for you LJC, although I am not sure you will comprehend much of what was written by the author. In short, it ruins all the fictitious claims you have repeatedly made without backing up. Crossbows are good for archery. I am as hardcore vertical compound as they get and will not use a crossbow but support full inclusion based on the facts that are out there. http://www.ohiohuntclub.com/club/support.pdf

    100% True right there. The tracking abilities need to be there to recover these deer and sometimes it is clear that some guys do not have those skills developed. Lack of experience leads to not knowing where the shot went, not knowing when to back out, not recognizing the type of blood and unfortunately not recovering the deer or worse yet giving up too easily. It is too bad more time isn't spent on learning tracking, nearly all resources go to getting the set up needed to get the shot and not the recovery.

    I see it as the opposite effect, add Crossbows and have another reason why ML or guns wont be needed in the future. ML's in bow is already on the edge of reality with the DEC, maybe because they cannot put crossbows into archery season? It will take a law change to make that happen but no law change to bring guns into archery. Let that sink in.
