i don't know if i have any pictures accessible here at the office right now. mature doe with flat squared off briskets and shrunken heads are a tell tail sign. i've taken some that are very large framed but didn't way as much. we aren't the best region or area for soil either.

that's a point that many don't get. they'll look really thick this time of year because their coat is dry and fuffy. have to be that way for better insulation.

roll up to customer service or call them up. cards are interchangeable.

it's just like any other community or group of people. there's bad ones and good ones. the structure and way of life lets them get away with a lot if they choose to go down a wrong path. stupid actions only begets stupid consequences.

they knock down and waste so much corn it's not even funny. worse than bear i feel like.

my cousin's husband and a couple friends of his that work for him all went to Tree House. i distraught and bummed they made it there first.

cash is better just not as convenient. smaller privately owned businesses eat less fees and costs with a cash transaction vs CC, despite much of those costs are written off during tax time. offer cash and the purchase price will be cheaper on more expensive things. other reasons that you wouldn't get into on a public forum.

DEC says Increased number of deer taken and reported in 2018
dbHunterNY replied to Bigfoot 327's topic in Deer Hunting
they'd be biting the hand that feeds them but if DEC didn't brush off the idea of how important it is to report we'd be doing a lot better with it. they pretend like they're fine without it but more people reporting only helps. the first ticket would start having people reporting in a hurry. -
arrow isn't the best match for that bow. definitely not helping your shooting by any means. get arrows with fletching not vanes and better matched to that bow at your draw length and you'll probably have a much better experience.

This 4 point not legal in the NY antler restricted zones.
dbHunterNY replied to Rattler's topic in Deer Hunting
nyantler dug up an old thread for some reason. there was proposed yearling buck protection legislation that would've used antler point restrictions. it had your 4W at 3 points on a side and 8N would've been 4 points on a side. it makes some sense that you'd want to protect a young buck like that 8 pt to make use of genetics seen in a deer already walking. multiple research studies have proven you can't alter antler genetics by taking cull bucks in a free range herd, including one that started with intent to prove culling certain bucks would work but proved instead it doesn't. problem remains that just because it started as an 8 pt doesn't mean it'll end up as a giant. a spike horn next to it might grow up into something bigger. also if someone was willing to shoot that yearling 8 pt then they're most likely going to shoot it without antler restrictions so it's a moot point. antler restrictions from a biological prospective are meant to ensure protection of most yearlings, not all. there's always going to be a limited number of older bucks that are an exception that doesn't work with antler restrictions. then again you could always go by points or spread/beam length. other states have mandatory antler restrictions using something other than points on a side. -
that's making it difficult. maybe change it to a leg or finger. just sayin. ...i'd rather see you draw a crossbow with everything intact, using a fancy crank drawing aid. those things are pretty awesome. in action.

Work Sharp Ken Onion.
dbHunterNY replied to Nytracker's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
i have one. it works good. only problem is some hilt profiles don't let you start your edge right. also it's a convex edge profile. can't touch it up with anything else really. if you move to a stone or flat surface sharpening system you'll just be taking more material off to change the profile rather than work the actual edge. makes a nice sharp edge that can take wear and tear from those who abuse their kitchen knives. -
when did anyone mention antler restrictions?? "mandated" is relative. i know a couple on this list use their own that in a sense are mandated despite not by law. let it go and lets just appreciate smiling folks behind nice deer.

not sure about DEC data/numbers but i know we did work at the prison down in Ulster and there were stupid amounts of deer out in the fields even a ways from the state owned property. by sheer numbers they could produce some good ones.

Tahoe, Honda Pilot, or Toyota 4 runner???
dbHunterNY replied to halfnelson's topic in General Chit Chat
anyone i know of loved their Pathfinder in hindsight and never should've sold it. i don't know about their longevity but any vehicle maintained well lasts if it's been good that long. we always looked for less bells and whistles to run a vehicle up for mileage. -
even if a big one dies a property will get attention. if it produced a mature deer with big antlers it was for a reason, and it will produce one again. not all attention is from those with honest and genuine intentions.

last trophy i won i spanked a Mathews shooter and a Hoyt shooter. I shot an Elite Victory. i told them it was because i was lucky and practiced to make them feel better. i totally lied. the bow shot itself and i was along for the ride. it's hilarious because they still think i'm a good shot.

i'm nobody and i have a bow i like to shoot 3D with, bow i hunt with, one i shoot targets with, one i like to pretend i'm Fred Bear with, etc. i suppose most can serve as a hunting bow but my wife knows none are a backup bow.

If you do feel like putting it down Moog will troll and haunt you until you don't. lol Ridiculous amounts of fun. Like throwing a baseball. First shots will feel awkward and clumsy. Practice often and the right way and it's like riding a bike. just have to almost crash a couple times before you kick the rust off again.

he was over 6.5 yrs old?? that's awesome to have an opportunity to take a buck that old.

What kind of wood?
dbHunterNY replied to 2012_taco's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
dark area is probably just the heart wood so it was boards from the center of the log. -
What kind of wood?
dbHunterNY replied to 2012_taco's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
not into wood working. rough cut boards from whatever is on the farm or around is where my experience caps. looks exactly like white oak. not sure about the dark portion though. -
not doubt nice deer. many of the biggest you probably won't even see or hear about.

Tahoe, Honda Pilot, or Toyota 4 runner???
dbHunterNY replied to halfnelson's topic in General Chit Chat
i'm impartial. i know of all three owned by people who are straight up running them into the ground and they just don't die. i had a Honda Ridgeline that to me was an awesome SUV/truck. everyone said i could run it up to way past 200k but i decided to sell it at around 130ish k miles. nothing wrong with it though. anything i did to it was normal wear and tear. i used it like a truck more than most guys use their actual truck. -
